the latest CSSU testing changelog says "fixed portrait wallpapers" so does that mean enabling portrait wallpapers wont lead to a reboot loop?
can anyone confirm this?

Setting /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/portrait_wallpaper causes crashing of hildon-desktop, but without reboot, so yes, it won't lead to reboot loop ;)

Hi to all!
I've just installed CSSU and wanted to activate portrait mode.
In the first message, it says:
Latest version: available as a part of the CSSU

So, I guess I don't have to install another package?

However, only a few applications rotate, as Firefox and Opera, but the desktop and the menu don't rotate.

I've installed "CSSU Features Configuration" e "CSSU Tuner" and set "Rotation" on "Forced", but no result!

Can anyone help me please?

it's a problem with transitions.ini file, restore original nokia file, reboot, start cssu features configuration - it will build transitions.ini file propertly and rotation will be working ;)

Hi! Thanks for your answer.
From "CSSU Features Configuration", I tried to restore the original transitions.ini, rebooted, but again only few applications rotate, the desktop doesn't rotate, even if I set "Rotation" to "Forced". :(

i attached you my transitions file, download it, rename it to transitions.ini and put in MyDocs folder.
In XTerm write:
root
rm /usr/share/hildon-dekstop/transitions.ini
mv /home/user/MyDocs/transitions.ini /usr/share/hildon-dekstop/transitions.ini

Nothing, it doesn't work. It always rotate only a few applications.
I think I'm gonna format it, maybe something got corrupted...

strange. As i said, i had the same problem but restoring transitions solved it, try to reflash, and install cssu - it has to work :D

Ok... I formatted the little brick, installed first CSSU and... NOTHING!!!
As before, only a few applications rotate, desktop doesn't rotate.
I don't know, I suspect I'm missing some packages...

There are at least three places you might go to to tweak cssu settings: Power button menu should contain 'CSSU Features'-Application, which you may also find in the application menu. And you could also find 'CSSU Tuner' in the Settings Application.

I tried, I tried... I set "Rotation" for "Applications" on "Forced", but Desktop doesn't rotate...
I think I'm giving up, for now. :(

Stable. Just to be sure: apart installing CSSU e setting "Rotation" on "Forced", there are no other packets to install or settings to set?

oh, now i think i know what is the problem, imo stable has default locked rotation. Just use this command:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/ui_can_rotate -t bool true

Why could't find it anywhere, in special way in the official topic?
Searching with Google, I could find only some russian forum!

By the way: I can see the icons in the two "modes", portrait and landscape are different, I guess I have to arrange them.
One stupid problem is I just can't find the icon of the phone book and of the phone calls! :o

And little advice about desktop, remove all icons, add it again, arrange in both modes.

Following maemo wiki, if you want "landscape orientation lock" install packet status-area-orientationlock-applet
And second advice: blacklist apps that won't work in portrait and using them will be difficult (camera-ui, image-viewer) if you don't know how, check last line of MY transitions.ini file that i gave you ;)

Mmmm... I read many pages, but I think I missed that one! By the way, searching that command with Google, that page is not present in Google searches.
Ok... I'll follow your advice!

Just to be sure: "landscape orientation lock" means I can lock orientation on landscape, if, for example, I'm tired of portrait?

Yeah, you get one extra button in status menu and if you "lock" it n900 just ignore accelerometer data and stays always in landscape mode, belive me, very useful.

Yep, despite of all the pain it caused me to activate it, portrait sometimes is annoying, since it activates when I don't want it!

As it happened to be Friday the 13th and I hit the portrait wallpaper bug.

I remembered I had portrait wallpapers before and tried to set the gconf boolean value. Did so and fooled around with a few themes. I desided to reboot to see the theme in full glory and yeap portrait wallpaper bug is still there.

Maybe archaen could update the first post to say don't enable portrait wallpapers. It is said of course later in the thread, but as I was a bit preoccupied at the same time as reading the thread I missed it.


Anyhow thanks for the nice work on hildon-desktop!

PS Backupmenu would have saved me some trouble and ssh on device a lot more, well maybe next time.. :)

guys..i need help..i installed latest cssu testing..n tried to enable separate wallpaper.i mean portrait n landscape wallpaper..but im not success to do that n now when i turn my phone to portrait the background just go blank..but in landscape mode..the wallpaper is still there..any help will be appreciate.tq..

I am using portrait wallpaper and I am on testing CSSU, works as it should. First time it was blank/black in portrait, I selected an image and problem solved ;)

Hi i have a problem i cant set two separate wallpapers when i set landscape or portrait its the same for both views. I have latest testing cssu and also portrait lock hildon desktop installed! What do i do please help!

Turned on portrait wallpaper in gconf, then rebooted. Set landscape wallpaper, close keyboard, rotate phone, set portrait wallpaper.

I've been searching, but i cant seem to find the gconf command for enabling the portrait wallpaper. Can anyone share this wisdom with me? :) thanks!

Anyway, how stable is this, because I also found a lot of people complaining that it bricked their device. Is this still a issue?

If you are using the latest testing CSSU, stability shouldn't be a problem ;) Atleast on my device I have no issues and I didn't do some other things, just enabling and using ;)
