i could lock the screen in portrait mode when the first hd deb package was released, after the update of 18july its not possible anymore

Just wonder will there is a apps to lock some apps in landscape mode,
example: xterminal, photo viewer.

There's no app to lock apps in landscape mode yet
And I think it's better if this option is added to CSSU Features Configuration application.
It's insane to make an app for each feature for each app
The only think you need is add the program to transitions.ini, in thp_tweaks.
Example:

blacklist = mediaplayer osso-xterm worldclock image-viewer camera-ui

But you need to compile from gitorious (or wait for the update) to try this now

Just to confirm, do we have to wait for an update before this works? It didn't seem to work for me (though I didn't reboot - in case that is necessary).

I tried this two options and it's not worked...
in transitions.ini (/usr/share/hildon-desktop) i put this line:
And after this I tried editing camera-ui.desktop (/usr/share/applications/hildon):
two options not worked for me (tried reboot too)..
I think we have to wait for an update...

New backgrounds :D Of course they loop in both orientations if you put them in that order ;)

Ok I added purple and orange but had to change the order and the gradients. Don't just add the two new images, apply all 6 new images for the gradients an colour loops to fit :)

Because it would be a hell of a long post if I put all images here, I've uploaded them on picasa:

I'm not able to see the status-area menu in portrait mode. Just a blink of the menu. What am I missing?

Already answered earlier in this thread.

The stock status-area menu is too wide to fit in portrait mode so it blinks off on activation.

The CSSU contains an updated status-area menu that works fine in portrait mode and that can be optionally installed.

i managed to put stuff into potrait mode but my photos wont do potrait mode, and my music player looks bad in potrait mode, shows half of the contents in just one part of the screen. not same s video descriptin. Helpp pls. i still cat find hildon desktop

This method does not work for me.Do not believe a man but now he is convinced.If someone has uninstalled otherwise share how.I no have any update of CSSU.

wen i rouched the top menu bar line i can see only two applets in my n900 i.e volume option and battery percentage option... i cant see the all applets like fm transmetter,shortuts,internet,clock,bluetooth etc... the default also went off...how to get it back

Go to terminal.

# sudo apt-get update apt-get upgrade answer Y at the question about upgrading hildon-desktop. Upgrade killall hildon-desktop Done.

I see alot of progess occuring on the git repo :)

1. Adding a blacklist feature
2. Seperate walpapers for both portrait and landscape
3. More fine tuning on the blacklist feature


All are friggin' awesome! Espc the blacklist for which aps should stay in portrait or landscape :)

I was thinking about doing something like Canola Layout for both portrait and landscape modes.

Applets' positions are stored in gconf keys:
/apps/osso/hildon-desktop/applets/_applet_id_/position
/apps/osso/hildon-desktop/applets/_applet_id_/position_portrait

I made a small change on canola layout and these are the results:

The problem is that sometimes the cellphone freezes (probably hildon-desktop because the power button menu still works) and I have to reboot.

The script kills hildon-desktop, I think that's the problem... There is a way to reload hildon-desktop without killing it?

If this freeze can be solved I'll try to do an applet for it :D

arcean please compile the latest one for us please... :) wanna try it out and I'm assuming all features are expectedly working now since I didn't see any updates on git for more than a day or 2 now. Would love to pull and compile one myself but don't have any sdk to use here.
