Does anyone know if this works with more than 4 homescreens? I believe that this requries installing the modified-hildon-desktop package, but I am concerned that this will conflict with the portrait desktop setup.

** sorry, ignore this, I had no idea that the extra desktops were enabled by the CSSU

Newer builds of the portrait hildon-desktop requires a new hildon-home with support for separate wallpapers. I'll release it after some testing :).

a new hildon-home? would that solve crashes? is it possible to make a new hildon-home that clings to widgets to solve RAM hogging after 2 days of usage?

hildon crashes??
i never have those kind of problem but to solve RAM hogging you dont you use optimize N900 that refresh your phone without having to reboot it....

1st - You never heard of hildon-home crashing? it's quite a common thing now related to widgets...

2nd - OptimizeN900 causes reboots sometimes which defeats the whole purpose of it..

Might not be for you but it is for me.. .and I've seen a couple of posters having the same issue too

Package is based on the latest cssu hildon-desktop package, which means new features like:
- improved task navigator by freemangordon
- do not change from portrait to landscape when device lies on a table by freemangordon
- added configurable saturation for blurless by David Fries
- included transitions.ini in deb configfile to retain user settings by David Fries

Yeah, I was very busy with a lot of task the last period...

What do you mean with "can you please change the layout of fastsms ?". However I'm starting to think to port this on meego, and this need a good amount of work...

This is awesome. The vertical scrolling makes me wonder if it would be possible to make it not 'snap' to each desktop. So the effect would be scrolling up and down one long desktop rather than moving between distinct spaces. That would be pretty cool. (is that how wp7 does it?)

hmm mm..... is this 2 ways of scrolling could be combined??? so to choose horizontal, vertical, or even both....??? no matter in landscape or portrait mode! that would be interesting :)

Well. Making use of 9 desktops in 3x3 pattern would be great... Even without diagonal scrolling it would be 2 scrolls to reach any of the 9.

If the screens form a loop both vertically and horizontally, they form a toroid, not a sphere.

my 2nd impression ..you guys are awesome and N900 is a hell of a device.
my suggestion : if it could be a quadrant tilting of the desktop ,e.g in vertical position from down to up and up to down And in horizontally right to left and left to right .
ME : N900 how are ya buddy ? ;;N900 : never been better .

(It is "possible" if you have a 1 color background :p but I rather have a nice background :D)

No problems so far, only been testing for a day or so.

Is it also possible to make 4 Backgrounds while only using 2 Desktops?
So if you scroll in portrait mode, it will have a nice looping, but also while scrolling in landscape mode

it is possible already through Live Wallpaper. play a bit around with it, as i don't really remember how to set it. but i had it for a while


EDIT:
go to live wallpaper
check to use the "same theme on every screen"
then click on the small icon of the screen and check "turn on"
Category = LiveWallpaper
Theme = Slideshow
Folder = Create a folder anywhere in /home/user/MyDocs/*** and place Your only image in there. Then choose this folder in this drop menu
Time to change image = I have set it to 300, so it doesn't it much memory (Although i don't know, wheather it eats it at all)

I would like to put in my 2 cents.

After CSSU was implemented and through the forced rotation, I learned that an 800x800 Image would act as a perfect image for both portrait and landscape LockSlider.


What I was thinking is that, whether it is possible to apply the same concept here... Just that we need to push the portrait mode screen to begin from the center (A push of approximately 160px)...

P.S.: No, I'm not high. :p

jldi jldiiiiiiiii ..i mean waiting anxiously for the final product . . . this is almost getting close to have a landscape and portrait desktop,all at the same .now hope vertical and horizontal backgrounds tilting can be achieved soon .
