Maybe forum software that would allow option to ignore whole threads, if they have messages from people on ignore. I would actually like something like that.

You can potentially miss out threads of interest if someone in your ignore list is a prolific poster though.

Manual ignoring (of threads) sounds good. There's already a thread rating (those 5 stars) mechanism that may be used to semi-automate this option.

And, if Good Member A chose to do so, they could could investigate further, but only as far as their and other's privileges would allow.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the basic picture. It could be very powerful, very simple, and very configurable.

Sounds kinky :D

Yes, I'd like to contribute via donation too.

abill_uk..... I think you have made useful contributions. I think it's your british wit that doesn't translate to print very well (like the quote above) I've had had differences of opinion with other members like ysss and pradabada, I usually make an incredibly intelligent and inciteful post or two and then let the fellow members sort it out. Sometimes I feel like I want to have an "IM" type discussion on the forum but that's when I realize that maybe I should cool off and wait a while before responding....... or take it to PM.

I know there are no winners on the forums or the internet.

I've been a moderator on various forums and every time you apply rules, the inbox lights up! It isn't all praise, you can never make everyone happy.

It's not all about you, me, ysss or anybody. It's not about right or wrong, it's the internet for crying out loud!

It's about the journey, kinda like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, you have to enjoy the good stuff, avoid the bad stuff and brush your teeth regularly.:D

Pretty existential huh?

AHA yes and i agree with you but your post is not long enough on this subject :p it should contain a few pages in my estimation hahaha.

We got such a vast difference of people and nationalities even down to religion that posts on here.

I am getting maybe just a tad too serious and should listen more to my own words and like you said take a trot down to willy wonka's choc heaven hahaha boy do i remember that movie !.

A few onhere are damm good posters you included but is a shame for it to be spoilt by some so i guess your right... in more ways than one !.

Thankyou for the comments, very noted ;) and can we have more people like you on here please ? your a breath of fresh air !!!.

Thankyou.

don't follow your example, sorry
nominally, i have nooo on my ignore list.
so i wouldn't see your (& Rauha's,) post(s) @ all?
or would i just not see the quote?

without wanting to sound negative, i see a potential for performance issue even only to display a page of 10 posts.... not to speak of the (dead) locks when posting at a busy time.
then again, i don't know how the software you were referring to works; does it use sqlite in the back-end?

But that's the beautiful part, you wouldn't even have to, the budget would be in the council's proposal submitted to the bill-payer, Nokia. And of course the only losers here would be the attention whoring trolls.

well,

if you are thinking about improving the sw on this site... could you add an outbox to their messaging system, maybe?

If that's the case, will they also want the plugin for meego's forum?

At any rate, if there's a donate button I'm sure a few of us would like to buy you a beer or something ;)

I would accept a beer, but this would be free as in freedom.

@daperl: whichever one ends up with least moderation I guess :D

a (free) beer in exchange for a tool to keep peace within a framework of (free)dom sounds like a good deal to me.
