First of all, cleven can't be run as root. On the other hand, you should ge nice popup notification about it, so it's still something wrong with Your permissions.

is it possible that my old issue here when triyng to associate with aps with spaces (still not working for me) to be related with my permissions as you mentioned above, if yes how do I fix this (sorry if I am a pain but I am still learning) thank you

No problem - unfortunately, I have no idea, unless You've messed with sudoers/sudoers.d or mass-changed some important folder permissions (there was a guy lately, that did 'chmod 755 /home/user/'...).

This is for sure unrelated.

I have not tested further for the behaviour with spaces in APs names. I have just forgotten about it.. :cool:

BTW, has anyone else tested with spaces?

Not able to get reaver or wpscrack to launch, the window comes up but closes immediately. I am using the latest version and have tried purging and re-installing several times to no avail.

Has anyone even confirmed that reaver and wpscrack in this script/gui even works ?

Anyways, 2.4-2 is not showing up in about. Is this the current version in the extras-devel ?

Also, do i need to install reaver separately ?
According to this link. The SDK is needed for a manual install which is huge.

Hi saturn,

i just updated to the 2.4.2 (not experimental) and i was wondering the following:

1. i download the reaver-1.3.tar.gz right?
2. do i unpack and put the "reaver 1.3" folder in the .reaver in n900 directory? or do i put the contents of the reaver 1.3 folder in that etc.....?
3. where do i get the walsh stuff from?

Not stupid at all. Thank you for the detailed question.

First I do not supply either reaver or walsh. If you want you can either build your own from the sources or get them already build from other members of this community. My advice is to choose builds that come from people that have been around long enough.

Second you will need to place the binary(-ies) in the folder
with the names reaver and walsh exactly.

Let me know if you have another question.

Hi,

Thanks for that Saturn! With your advice found the walsh+reaver binaries from another wps thread on maemo.org, unpacked the gz file and put the Reaver and Walsh files in the directory you suggested. Rebooted and hey presto got the links. cheers again

A note for all (will add it in the release above):

The code implemented in Cleven version up to 2.4-x works with version 1.3 of reaver and walsh.

At least walsh 1.4 does not work due to change of output format.

Uploaded Cleven 2.4-3 in extras-devel

Basically some minor fixes that bothered me.. and one change to help users report better the version they are using.

changelog:

• FIX: Further correction in the creation of the symbolic links for reaver and walsh.
• FIX: walsh output file would persist; now it is removed explicitly after each scan.
• CHANGE: Added build number in main and about windows.

** INSTRUCTIONS for new features:

• Add reaver and walsh binaries in /home/user/.reaver/ and re-start Cleven for the links to be created.
• This version of Cleven was designed to works with up to version 1.3 of reaver and walsh.

sorry for my newby question but i have read every post without luck..
I have made a .txt file containing the WPA code of my router, and stored at /home/user/.cleven/dictionaries.
As you say :

When the WPA security type is chosen then also a button for selecting a dictionary appears.

Pressing this button a dialog appears that shows the dictionaries stored in
/home/user/.cleven/dictionaries
and allows the selection of the dictionary to be used for the decryption.

so when the dialog appears that shows the dictionaries i choose my dictionary but then it doesnt let me to press decrypt..
(it only let me choose one of the .cap files)

As soon as you choose the cap file (you would like to test against your dictionary) then the "Decrypt" button gets active.

Sure, as soon as someone uploads them in the repos I will do it with pleasure.

BTW, the complexity to support them without being available as dependencies is much more than if they were actually available.

Yes but it gets active only when i choose a cap file..
I thought that if i choose my dictionary.. there is no need for a cap file to go on.. correct?
in other words i want to test my dictionary.
I have the wordlist containing the WPA key. If i press "Decrypt Packets" - "WPA" - "Select Dictionary" - "my_wordlist.txt" why i cant press Decrypt ?
Should i have to select a cap file first and then press Decrypt to find my key..?
i want to know if my dictionary is wrong ..

Read from here steps 2 and 4. My effort was to automate (as much as possible) those steps.

In short you need to capture the 4-way authentication handshake for the AP. This is stored in the .cap file and you test it against a wordlist (aka dictionary). So you need to choose both before the decrypt button becomes active.

(Sorry, I've never answered this, but I saw it again in the faircrack thread. It was more simple to find your post here..)

The bleeding edge drivers are not (yet) included in KP.

I suspect you have added a call to the load.sh in the boot sequence or added the drivers in the libs folder and then forgot about it..

Could it be the case?

Been doing some more research into this and still have not got a conclusive answer :mad:. Been looking into this for over a year now. My latest test confirm injection by aircrack-ng, but test for the injection driver shows stock drivers. I am sure injection has been working as part of my development on fAircrack (shameless plug :D), so I am looking for some wisdom from the almighty Maemo Guru's to put my mind at ease. I think I am going to give in and just do what everybody else is doing and actually load and unload the drivers. :o

In the screenshot you have there what was the command that gave you the interface info?

If you notice carefully there is an error. A script was executed and a sleep command was requested with 1s option.

I guess this script loads the drivers for you..

Thanks, I am now happily loading the injection drivers and get more reliable behaviour. Sofar I got to post #400 on the kernel power thread and can report that it definitely was not part of KP47, not sure I have the stamina to finish reading it for now, but I have a better understanding now of how the drivers are implemented :rolleyes:. I am sure I was not running the injection drivers when I got my results previously, but lxp reported that part of the stock drivers were kinda-sorta working (ie. monitor mode on channel 6 only), so that might explain why I got a false positive. Other option is that also some upstream updates made it into the later KP releases, however, I need to finish reading the KP thread to confirm :(. Sorry for highjacking your thread, back to Cleven business!

I don't understand what you don't understand about linking it from fAircrack. It was implemented there, both projects are FOSS, so I'm linking to currently existing implementation (which code may be examined, and even reused partially or fully). Consider, that I haven't remembered about You planning to implement it.

Calm down, I'm not going "illegal advertisement". As You probably noticed, I'm using both projects, and would like to see both fully-functional - both Cleven and fAircrack got some advantages and disadvantages over each other, but I'm not trying to convince people into using one or another (exclusively).

Wasn't upset, just didn't understand. It is more clear now but it looked like intimidation.

I could not have thought of your argument since the only code that could be shared is in the aircrack wiki page. The rest is quite distant.
Also I got confused because I thought you had thanked me and commented on that post but from what I see now I'm wrong.

I think Stefan got it right.

From the documentation:
the operative word here being "if".

Nevertheless, it doesn't help much in cleven's case the issue is elsewhere.

I have made a small test-bench and have discovered several issues that can happen related with AP names.

1) Accented characters - the lookup fails; no action can be taken against them.
2) APs with the same name - only the first one that appears in the list can be captured.
3) Spaces in AP - authentication fails.

Will work on fixing those..

Re latest version of Cleven does not work for me can anybody else confirm

WEP with and without spaces in apps does not work: the authenticate window opens then closes immediately

Wep and WPA handshake/deauthenticate: the new window opens the script commands are executed but no handshake is collected (does disconnect the wireless devices on the network on WEP/WPA)

Reaver looks like is working (not fully tested as I have to setup my other two routers, will test and report back)

i can confirm (g0r problem) that authenticate is not working in latest Cleven....
authenticate windows shutdown immediatly right after pressing the authenticate button on Cleven....
