Estel, I recommend at least running an aircrack-ng capture session before initiating some of the other functions. Without the capture session the injection program etc. may invariably end up on the wrong channel, but with the capture in progress they always picked the right channel. That's what I noticed and why I recommended using capture before starting any of the other functions during my work on the fAircrack thread.

Otherwise I agree with free-to-try-whatever philosophy :p

Seems strange you'll end up in the wrong channel. Haven't noticed that.

In general and if I wrote it again, I would have one button "full attack" that initiates the textbook sequence and a second for "custom attack" where you get a list of buttons "capture, inject, etc" allowing to choose what to initiate and in which sequence.

its not illegal. u dnt kno it.its nt illegal.i just want to c weder i can crack it or not. i told my friends that i can show it to them that wat my N900 can do.they challenged me to crack this.i tried a whole day.but cudnt make it happen.suddenly it started fetching data some other day and it fetched 52k.den i did the next steps and in show keys it showed me a key.i was overwhelmed. but that key cudnt connect me.plz help me.i want to prove them my N900 is better than their i phone. and its not illegal.i will just show them.

its not simply as easy as getting the wep key. i highly doubt that it is even wep. its prob wp2-enterprise.

you must stop what you are doing.

Going back on topic, Saturn, how goes debugging issue with decrypting from multiple .ivs? Is there anything we (users) can do, to help tracking it? As you probably remember, my network I was testing it on hasn't got strange name or whatsnot...

It is illegal if it's not your own WiFi AP, or you weren't contracted to do so for pen-testing. "But yeah but not but yeah but no..." Did you remember to disable monitor mode and injection and also if you have the same mac address as your host you need to change it.

Hello again,

This time, not playing with my own router, but testing a friend's one, I seem to have the same problem as Miroslav, but let me confirm it is WEP protected *not* wpa
I also know it is active since there is a PS3 and a laptop connected to it, also aware it is MAC-filtered. I am using either the PS3 or the laptop's mac using MACChanger, but the data collection is incredibly slow... Removing the Mac filter, as well as testing in my network, WEP protection usually reaches 50k in a few minutes, but I don't understand what I seem to be doing wrong here...

*Edit: I am always doing this using N900's Tablet Mode, but I don't think it should change anything... (for power consumption issues)

Obviously, you're collecting without proper injection. so, 1000 IV's You got in hour is quite good. You need to use authorised (properly) MAC, and inject.

all i did was i opened cleven. enable monitor mode. set injection drivers. den set mac address. then tapped outside. scand for available networks and authenticated the desired network. xterminal opened. data collected upto 52k. den decrypted successfully. showed keys. but cannot connect with that key. :(

Hey Saturn, any findings/progress about why "all common" doesn't work for sample network names I've send You? Also, do you plan to enable broadcast deauth for WEP cracking (not only WPA) as it helps to create ARP package for injection? not demanding anything (by any means), but it's a shame that Cleven isn't still stand-alone equivalent for fAircrack (while Cleve is superior in many areas, or is supposed to be [''all common'']).

Hello everyone..i m new here i just tried cleven but had a problem..i read the guide on page 15 and tried it but the problem is that when i try to hack a WEP i collect the minimum data and den wen i go to the decrypt window and press WEP i dont get any AP there its blank..can someone plzz help me out with dis??rest everything is ok..i m using power kernel 48 and its f99 but i cant see any AP in WEP SO PLZZ HELP??will be waitin for a reply thank you..

I have the same problem... I captured some wpa .cap but can't decrypt it, cause there is no dictionary, and pressing decrypt button doesn't do anything. Please, anybody help

I have never ever been able to crack WEP ad-hoc networks. Ever. It always show “Waiting for beacon frame” and then “No such BSSID available”. However, it works fine with WEP infrastructure networks. I've been through different versions of Cleven (and kernel) but it never worked for me. I don't know if it's an issue of Cleven or aircrack-ng. Apparently somehow aircrack-ng/Cleven didn't get the right BSSID (or at least it's what google tells me).

It's not that my installation is broken. I just did a reflash some days ago and reinstall the latest version.

Anyone succesfully cracked a WEP ad-hoc network?

some late answer - better late than never they say..

Your case should be working fine since version 1.12-2.
one limitation of "all common" (which comes from a limitation of aircrack) is that you cannot mix .cap and .ivs files.

Since Cleven doesn't provide a way to create ARP files or use them then it doesn't look relevant to me..

OK, I haven't been clear enough on this. I mean that, when You crack WEP password using package injection, You need ARP. If You can't craft one (using Cleven only, you can't obviously), the only way is to capture legit one from connected client, and re-send it (which is possible with Cleven - package injection option automatically listen fro ARP and inject it, when got at least one).

Now, when You got idle client connected to AP, it may take quite long time, until ARP packet is send - on situations, where proper power-saving is used, it may even never happen (until client start to actively use network). So, best way of getting legit ARP quickly, is to deauth client - it makes it automatically re-authenticate (and get out of power-saving mode, for a while), so ARP is send, and our rogue device capture and inject it.

Still, client aimed deauthentication is somehow hard to implement in Cleven, if I understand You correctly. Ho ever, in most cases, AP-targeted deauthentication works well (AP just deauth all connected clients). AFAIK, it is possible to implement it without much hassle (latest fAircrack got this, while it - just like Cleven - can't implement client-targeted deauth). So, it would be great, to have a nice little button in Cleven interface, to do just that - AP aimed deauthentication :)

If I remember correctly, some pages ago You've said, that You thought, that client MAC is always needed to send deauth packet, and I answered that aircrack can be used also without client MAC specified + I provided link to aircrack FAQ page, where was stated that this method is "less efficient", than client-aimed deauth. Still, AP-only targeted deauth seems to work in practice - I've yet to see a case, where I would be unable to do so.

Also, if I remember correctly, You acknowledged that and promised to include AP deauth option ;) but, I may have messed something (mixed memories from different discussions, or whatsnot). So, in any case, glad to be of any help.

could you update cleven so its compatible with KP49???
since pali upload KP49 to repository recently anyone who use cleven with KP49 will got warning that KP49 is not a compatible driver for cleven....
although the cleven still works (i still can crack my router) using KP49 the warning is really annoying every time we started cleven & when we configure the driver...

Even better, could You include option to disable this check on every startup? I recently found, that I'm using fAircrack more often than cleven, due to long startup time (due to unnecessary checks on every startup, I suppose - on first startup or on demand would be sufficient).

gives a warning but works fine, wep and wpa handshake

for me still not working on networks with a space in names

I also mentioned (I think) if can be possible on a future version to decrypt hidden wep networks (name and key)

Yes it is possible with some heavy modifications in the code and UI to achieve hidden network discovery.

I was looking into that but found that the aircrack version we have for N900 does not return what its manual says for hidden networks, i.e. http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?...n_ssids_length

If someone knows a solution for this or wants to report it to the maintainers of aircrack, feel free to take part.

Finally, it will take some days to post an update for the KP49 since I'm in the middle of some more changes in the code and it is not yet "releasable".

also I haved used kismet to get the name of hidden networks & got it every time am I bad to say that kismet is using aircrack for same so how come works with kismet and not with any other ap (pls I am just learning about many things that n900 can do if I am wrong let me know and ignore me, thank you)

What's the problem here?

Mine airodump-ng does display <length= 7> the way it should. I have aircrack-ng just from repositories, thus the one Mentalist Traceur maintains. Or am I missing the point here?

@mr_pingu: Not sure. It works for you, and it works for g0r through Kismet apparently (which g0r said uses aircrack-ng as a backend for that?) Apparently it's not displaying for Saturn.

It's possible Saturn's test AP was just in such conditions that his device couldn't pick up the length?

Hence me saying I'd look into it as soon as I could, since if it turns out to be a 'works for me' thing for most people, then great, but I don't want to assume that until either I test myself, or a bunch of people say it works for them.

I believe kismet is an passive scanner, so without actively scanning for data/SSID. Not sure if airodump-ng is also passive..
I don't know if airodump-ng uses kismet as backend. Defenitly not the other way round.
But that's not really important.



I have the prove here: all acces points are named: "dehoven" and only one has been recovered by airodump by means of "captured data"

So don't know why it isn't working for others
I issued the following commands, don't what could go wrong in these 2 commands
