Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

I've now got the same problem. I contacted the developer via Twitter and this is his reply "FB doesn't seem to like the authentication url anymore for some reason, will fix that this week." So it appears to be more of a problem with Facebook than with fMobi.

I'll just have to keep a look out for the update.

after get into fMobi, go to Home, click Settings, and set "Logout on exit" to On. then go to Home again, click Quit.

then try to login again. it works on me

This looks like an interesting (albeit heavyweight) application,

Two questions:
1) why does fMobi request Offline Access permissions for the application?

2) where is the source code for fMobi?

Thanks

1) So you don't need to log in every time.
2) In my laptop

Got white screen on startup.

uninstalled fmobi,
activated testing & devel -repos,
apt-get update & apt-get install libqtm-11 as root
boot
reinstalled fmobi from .deb on the website.
deleted apps privacy settings from facebook,
added them back through link http://on.fb.me/o5ogM9
started app again, gave user name & password
tapped on log off when closing app
closed app and presto. =)

this is beautiful =)

but .. one thing .. a suggestion

why dont u make the scroll slower ?

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

Just downloaded v1.3.1 and this is definitely the best facebook app available for Maemo (and I've used a few, including Kasvopus and Sociality). I'm using it in Full Screen mode with a font size of 24, the UI of this app is so logical that it is an absolute joy to use.

I've looked hard and can't find too many bugs, but if you're interested in what I've found:
  • If the number of likes for a post is 4 digits or more, the number of likes clashes with the comments graphic (font size 24)
  • Clicking like on a post does not update the number of likes. Clicking refresh comments does not either. Showing likes list does update total likes.
  • Viewing a photo in Portrait mode, then rotating to landscape, does not maximise photo (keeps portrait size)
  • No minimize to dashboard button (not really a bug, can use ctrl-backspace)

Some features that would be nice to implement:
  • Change scrolling speed in News Feed to match scrolling speed in Friends List
  • Option in settings to cache friends profile pix (or an assignable # of days before updating profile pics)
  • Swipe (left/right) gesture for viewing previous/next photo

Thank you for supporting this community, donation has been sent.

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

I could add:

1. When viewing a photo the REFRESH button (to see new comments) is not working.

2. The OK button in the CHAT functionality, is a bit HARD to press. I always have to click a few times before it works. Also, the smiley icon and subsequently the smileys displayed, are too small.

3. A feed filtering option would be nice.

travla 2011-08-30 13:36

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

Feed filtering option is already there, just go to News Feed and click the 3 horizontal bars icon, and you have your own groups as filters, in addition to some canned ones.

Is there going to be a stable build of this available anytime soon? I'm not linux saavy and I'd rather wait until there aren't any outside install/download operations to perform.

Installing or using fMobi does not require any special skills. Try it out and if some problems occur just uninstall it from application manager.

but can you please add an option to decide if the app is running in landscape, portrait or automatically? would be great

another thing : do you push this thing on ovi or extras devel?

Sorted the libqtm-11..installed qtquickcompat and hot fixes and still get a blank screen when i try to load up ..how can i prove that libqtm-11 is installed correctly?

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

when i type comments or status updates (or any text where there is a text box at the bottom and a nice orange button on the right), if it goes longer than 3 lines, the text bleeds out of the text box and I can't see it (as it also goes off the screen).

this is in portrait mode.

How do I write private messages in this app?
I cannot find a button in the message tab.

And another problem I had :
When I get new messages in the chat window, it doesn't scroll down to the new message.

To my knowledge, the public API does not allow access to create a new message - whereas closed APIs do.

geojoking 2011-09-09 09:02

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

That's right. And that's why the iPhone or Android Facebook clients can do that, among other things (such as create Places).

He should email facebook. Snaptu was able to send messages and accept friend requests way before it was even considered by facebook.

travla 2011-09-09 09:49

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

To be honest, I don't see the point of sending messages via Facebook, we've got e-mail for that very reason. Unless of course you're sending the message to more than one person, where it's conversation layout where all responses is far more superior, since the conversation is centralised in the cloud.

geojoking 2011-09-09 11:15

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

You may not have the email of certain people who are in your friend list.

Re: [Announce] fMobi - Facebook mobile client

WHITE SCREEN : open x-term, sudo gainroot, apt-get install libqtm-11

BLACK SCREEN : open x-term, sudo gainroot, apt-get install qtquickcompat.
