Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
Does anyone know which reliable online stores in US accept PayPal payment (I know for BestBuy)?
EDIT: Actually, the first question is which online stores are reliable? |
Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
Err... if they accept PayPal, they will mostly ship only to the registered PayPal address. If it's not in the continuous 48 (a.k.a. Continental US only), you're out of luck. Also the billing address should match. That's a very common issue with US eStores.

hp.com newegg.com pcmall.com To name a few. But it´s a moot point. None of those has the touchpad at the sale prices. |
Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
olighak, hp.com has them at the sale prices with status "coming soon".

EDIT: I have an idea. When you pay with paypal you can write a comment, so the comment could be where to ship the order. In my profile (hp.com & bestbuy.com) I already have US billing address. |
Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
It is like this. I've been through this mess already w/ Newegg and a german PayPal account. And this is called "global trade"... of course only possible if it's positive for companies.
And: try it w/ the shipmen note; i'm curious. You know that US companies often have an extra authorization department that cancels your order even if only they could not call your bank to question them for the card holder? It's because they are afraid of fraud. They are actually so scared that they want to avoid any hassle with non-US buyers, because they face enough problems w/ their own countrymen. Remember that for credit card usage they specifically have to allow foreign billing addresses, good luck. (even for cards that are linked to your PayPal account, the address has to be in the US.) I have most of my orders shipped to my employee's US office, and pick i up here or let it bring/shipped to me. But as my card's billing address is in Germany and i cannot enter that too often, it still sucks. I.e. the most i can do is an in-store pickup 3 times a year, and pay there with the same card that they refuse online. (...0 They started this fuuckkkk w/ the registered PayPal address even in Germany now. It's nice, because if i include my german company name in the default delivery address, it is omitted in the checkout process. Nice, isn't it? Try to receive something where only your name, the street/house number and the zip code plus city are given to the seller, it it is your office address (not your own office of course). Barnes & Noble was a very good option, because they promoted international orders and shipments. Even Amazon is ok regarding payment and delivery if you have it shipped to an US address, and then arrange further actions from that address. Maybe i should get an US prepaid(?) card, w/ the office address as billing address... |
Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
Thanks for info. I was in US few years ago and I ordered same stuff from Amazon which were paid with my European credit card. I didn't have any issue with delivery, so I thought that with others should be the same.
Anyway, I'll take my chances (if I get any) and see what will happen. What can I lose? :) |
Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
My OnSale Order was canceled, i ordered mine 4 minutes after sale started.
I have NO idea what-so-ever why it has happened and i am enraged. My guess is that i used an international billing address and they were afraid. HOWEVER, since the order was accepted they cant just bluntly do that. they can only do that if they were out of stock, which they werent.[i know a bunch of people who ordered after me and still received a touchpad] I will call them tomorrow, ask to talk to a a manager and demand action, i have my proccessing time and my friend's who received it, if they still claim out of stock, i will consider my options.[like filing a fraud statement on amazon.] EDIT: Its not only about a tablet anymore, it also about principles. |

Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
Well I had the opportunity to try 2 different ones today but they were display models and was told they need to be send back to hp according to "staples" & "carphonewarehouse" staff in the UK, manage to put my name down in Tesco's and argos if they come back in stock, also put my email down in the HP US site not realizing the UK site was different, either way hp uk doesn't sell them instead they send customers to shops like pcworld, etc

Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
This can't.... be. Like 2hrs ago, HP Home & Home Office Store said "coming soon". Now, for both 16 and 32GB models it says "out of stock". Seriously, wtf? The more and more i spend time on this "interesting" hunt, the more i just want a MeeGo product (like the Acer M500), even if it's only a tablet not a handset. And NOT spending even more time for this obvious... shite of a spending run.

Re: HP WebOS TouchPad for $99!
Found one last night but could not reserve it due to some web site fault, by the early ours of the morning before shops even had open, it was gone, so someone working in the shop must have grabbed it once they became aware of it. What is annoying is these people are saying as such product are discontinued they not selling them any more, when is clear they had the item in stock before shop was open to the public, well this is total bull as i have purchased discontinued stuff from same chain of shops before, the people working there are just grabbing these offers when we find them.
When this was announced, I was reading that Dixons in Dublin airport was reporting as having 60 in stock but when people went to get some in the early hours of the morning when shop opened, they were informed such units suppose to have all been reserved (probably for members of staff or family or friends i guess) It just shows you if the price is right, these products would shift very quickly, however now a-days companies are just too gridy and keep prices inflated, shame the chinese don't buy them out and start producing this units at this price, they certainly would become as big in this area as apple or android very soon. |
