Another N900 user here!
1.3.1 works for me nicely. Many thanks. |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
I need xbmcremote for Sailfish OS!!!
:) |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Even if a fully featured Sailfish OS for N9 comes out tomorrow, without Xbmcremote (and a few others) I wont switch.

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
I've taken some first steps into building an app for Sailfish*. But I don't have a Jolla device (nor planning to buy one in the near feature). This means I'm looking for some input on what a "native Sailfish look" is, as I can only determine this from the sparse documentation on the Sailfish website and the components demo provided by the SDK. Furthermore I would need someone willing to test the app on a real device, as the SDK doesn't give a good impression of how it looks and feels on a real device.
I've already briefly discussed a Sailfish app with mzanetti and both our opinion is to keep the app the same as the Harmattan and Ubuntu app, with the native look of the OS. So I'm mostly looking for input on what would be the best implementation of the current toolbar, in which you can toggle between "media", "keypad" and "now playing". mzanetti and I are guessing this would be a pull down menu, but maybe there is a better solution to this problem. *I've currently got basic host selection and connecting to the host working, without authentication, but network discovery can't be tested as the app runs in a VirtualBox hosted and NATed VM so it can't broadcast to my machines network. Besides the boring "make a connection" stuff I also already have a working cover which displays the name of the connected host and provides stop and play/pause functionality during playback. So I've taken some small steps, but the heavy lifting of media browsing, keypad and now playing still have to be done. |

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
As someone asked me by email for a status update on the Sailfish app I'll just update everyone here :)
Currently a lot of small and bigger things are finished. But some things still need to be done. Most notably I'm still putting together the last bits and pieces together for the now playing page (audio and subtitle track selection), and I still need to start working on the keypad. The other parts are mostly finished, including a fully working active cover with multiple actions depending on whether the app is disconnected, connected, or XBMC is playing, viewing item details and input support (input dialogs triggered from XBMC). Although a lot of things are already done there is still one blocker left. Which is mzanetti reviewing all the work I have done already :p But as he's quite busy he hasn't come around to it yet. For those who are really eager to test it could do so, the code can be pulled from Gitorious here. This doesn't yet include the work on the now playing page as it is still unfinished and a bit buggy (the branch is on Gitorious also for those who also want to try it, but it doesn't include all the latest work of the other branch yet), and the keypad is still missing, as explained. |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Will not connect to my XBMC because it's newer than v.11
|
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
How do you mean it's newer than v.11? You mean you're still running XBMC 11 (or older)? That's indeed unsupported. It does work with XBMC 12 Frodo and I'm guessing with 13 Gotham also.
|
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
I have V.14 of XBMC running on Mac OS X 10.7.5 and The application complains that I am not running V11 of XBMC so…..

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Hi,
I have a kind of unique feature request. I am using Xbmcremote with my Raspberry Pi. Every time I want to use it I have to search for the TV remote. Solution: Allow to send to following three CEC commands: Turn on TV, Switch to this source (XBMC), Turn off TV. It would be great, but I do not know if its even possible without adding an addon to XBMC. |

Reinstalled 1.3.0 from Ovi store which works. Maybe the 1.3.1 update was build for the wrong target? Is it possible to update ovi store to 1.3.1? Thanks, M. |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Does anyone know if the lastest version for n9 (1.3.1) work with xbmc 13?
|
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
A few days ago I installed openelec 4.0.1 on my Raspberry Pi it uses a current Gotham build. Every thing works flawlessly. Even better than before.
I am no longer affected by the "connection denied" error. Which forced me to reboot unter Frodo. Additionally XBMC now wakes up the TV as soon as I send input using Xbmcremote, so I can avoid searching for my remote. And I can withdraw my feature request. :) |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Anyone has a rpm for sailfish to test? I can try to help out

I've just uploaded the app to OpenRepos where it is already available. I've also uploaded it to Harbour, but it needs to go through their approval process, which I expect to fail (multiple times?). This because some things aren't allowed in Harbour. One of these things is reading the contact list, which is needed for showing the contacts name when you get an incoming phone call. So when using the app from Harbour you would see the number, not the name. But it might be this feature needs to be removed completely, as it looks like some of the other APIs the app requires for this feature are also locked down. In other news, mzanetti also created a new version for Ubuntu, which he said is already available in the store. Too my knowledge this version only contains a couple of small changes in the media browser, as you can now sort the items, and when browsing videos you can hide those which you already watched (a feature which is also present in the Sailfish version). There is no new version for MeeGo Harmattan / the Nokia N9. But as you can read there are no major new features added. The latest MeeGo release should also work with XBMC Gotham so that shouldn't be any problem either. But this would most probably also be a goodby to MeeGo, As mzanetti works for Canonical, on Ubuntu, so mostly focuses on the Ubuntu version, and I only use my Jolla so will only develop for Sailfish. But if someone else is willing to step up and maintain the MeeGo version my guess is that wouldn't be a problem. |

Also, If I experience crashes, how can I report them? Do you have a log or do we have to run the app from the terminal? Regards, |

Coming back to the crash logging. There is no way to handle/log the crashes. Crashes may be logged by Sailfish itself. But for them to be useful it would require the presence of the debug symbols, which can't be provided in the store. So when you do get a crash, try to reproduce it and post the steps either here or send me an email. The same goes for other issues, either post them in this thread or email them to me and I will look into it. |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Xbmcremote is since this morning also available in Jolla Harbour. Although it lacks some features (so I would recommend using the OpenRepos version)
The features the Harbour version is missing are:

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Thanks. So are you planning on removing those features alltogether in next releases or have the caped one in harbour and the fully featured in openrepos?
Personally, I think the policy of jolla not allowing those features sounds a bit stupid. |
Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
They will of course still be available in the OpenRepos version. I'll try to release them in the Harbour version as soon as possible, but that would require changes on those policies on Jollas end. So that would mean waiting till they support on or more of those APIs.

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote
Found an issue. On the keypad view, there's only the upper pulley menu but you can push the page upwards, like there's a lower pulley menu. Found this while using the keypad like I described earlier.

Another reported issue (in Harbour) is the search field losing focus when it finds a result. This is also already fixt for the next release. |

If you can't live with this bug, and aren't afraid of modifying files on the device itself. You're able to edit /usr/share/harbour-xbmcremote/qml/pages/Keypad.qml. At line 49 there is a "anchors.fill: parent" add a new line after it "pressDelay: 0" (as shown in this commit). This should fix the issue. Although I didn't change the file myself on the device (I created a new RPM from Qt Creator), this should work, although I don't have any experience at all at modifying files directly on the device itself (without having a corresponding RPM). |

I've found another bug: When in movie or audio library in any of the subitems (album artists, etc) if you start typing to search, the keyboard is hidden every time you type a letter, so in order to search for a full name it's very clumpsy since you have to type a letter, then get the focus back on the search widget to continue typing. |
