Re: T-Mo Pearl (8100) with N800???
Hey Ryank42,
Sorry to hear its not working with the 770. Just wondering which version of the OS on the 770 are you using? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure also which version of bluetooth the 770 has. The 800 is 2.0 while the 770 is 1.2 and maybe the Pearl 2.0. It should be backwards compatible but maybe the dial up networking was only updated for the 2.0 profiles. I've never had a 770 but it may also be the OS on the 770. Just some ideas. |
Public Notice - N800 - Fido - Perl
For Public Record:
I have managed to repeatedly get a data connection through Bluetooth DUN considering the following. Unlocked Perl 8100 (Cingular Branded) App Version: 4.2.1.101 (164) A1 firmware Nokia N800 OS 2007 Version 4.2007.26-8 Fido Blackberry Connect data plan Connection Type: Packet data APN: internet.fido.ca Dial-up number: *99# User: fido Pass: fido No advanced settings altered I found that I had to initiate the connection from the N800 a few times before it would get working. It fails once or twice, but once it connects everything works flawlessly (perhaps... somewhat slow... ) |
Re: T-Mo Pearl (8100) with N800???
My 8700g (with 4.2 firmware) originally wouldn't work with the N800 too, but I managed to get it to work by setting a custom AT command:

Anyway, here's what I did: 1. Pair the phone with the N800, making it a trusted device 2. Go to Control Panel > Connectivity > Connections > New 3. Click Next on the Connection Setup Welcome screen 4. Set the connection name you want, and Connetion type: GPRS, click Next 5. Access point name: wap.voicestream.com, Dial-up number: *99***1#, click Next 6. Click Advanced > Other 7. Supplementary AT commands: AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com", click OK 8. You should now be able to click the Connection icon in the status bar and click Change connection... to switch to your new connection It connected and I was able to surf a web page or two, loaded up the home page and google.com and then stopped responding. After that, all I get is the server error message, which I guess is better than "internet connection failed", but it's still not working either way. I should note that I tried all the previous settings listed in this thread (and others) and this was the only configuration that worked, even though it only worked once and briefly at that. Any ideas are appreciated and If anybody gets a T-Mobile Curve let me/us know if you have any luck! |
Re: T-Mo Pearl (8100) with N800???
Hi, I still use my pearl to tether to the N800 every day. I got a text message the other day about T-Mobile's newest upgrade. I think its the latest version of the OS so it may OR may not work. As for the Blackberry Curve, it may be too new. I can check but if I remember correctly it was OS version 4.1.0.66 for the Pearl that worked. There is a way to downgrade or upgrade any providers (T-Mobile, AT&T and others) with any OS but I think it may be device specific. What OS version do you have for the Curve? I think I'm going to try upgrading to the newest OS again for the Pearl and try if it works. Downgrading's a chore since backing up takes some time. I'll do it though if breaks the tethering ability.
I don't have a Curve to test anything on but I know the Pearl with the older version definitely works. Good luck! DigitalAce7 |
Re: T-Mo Pearl (8100) with N800???
I tried doing a search and didnt come up with anything. I'm new to this foeum and the IT. I've got a pearl and and n800 that i just bought, when I use DUN it loads a page then disconnects right away with a message "Authentcation Failed try again". I used the instructions a couple posts up. Basically the same as getting DUN working with my powerbook. Should I have somethng in the login password section when setting it up?I didn't have to do that with the powerbook, but that did disconnect after 10 minutes of inactivity. Love the n800 so far, don't have to carry the powerbook everywhere now. Thanks in advance for any responces.
