In hotmail I can only export a csv file, and in N9 I can only imprt vcf format. Is there any simple solution? Up to now syncing is still not working for me, neither with m.hotmail.com and snt-m.hotmail.com, nor with dub-m.hotmail.com which I can find in my activesync.log. Thanks anyway, hosick |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Yesterday I have flashed the device. I thought may be some file is creating problem. But no use. MFE(Hotmail) with snt-m.hotmail.com keep on sync and then gives erroe Can't sync with MFE server.
Gmail has also not working. Once deleting .qmf file worked. Now it is just receiving mails but not sending, STMP server error. i dont know what to do with it now |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I have an update on my case.
It is possible to sync my contacts and the calendar using dub-m.hotmail.com. Calender and contacts are working, but as soon as I enable email synchronisation, nothing is synchronised any more. So somehow the email sync is jamming the whole syncing. Before my troubles all began, I was about to send some emails with attached photos. They have never arrived, of course, but is it possible that they have to do something with this? Regards, hosick |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hi @ all!
Thanks for your help so far. I always had 2 mfe accounts working on my N9. My primary account stopped working one week ago. The other one is still syncing well. Both have the same settings. Today i tried hosicks trick with disabling the email sync and with "blu-m.hotmail.com" it started syncing calendar and contacts… Thank you for this! But after resetting my device today my gmail account has stopped too. This I cannot understand and why is the second mfe account still without any issues, even as primary mail account? I've had my fun with N9 but now i think im done with it... I'll give lumia 900 a chance if it ever comes out. Official release for Germany was May, 25 but it got delayed to June,7, and today the date has been removed from amazon.de, so we'll see… What's Nokias Plan?? Anyone? :) Best Regards |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hi
I have a problem with my Nokia after setting MfE account. I have pr 1.2 installed and set up MfE, and after some time reset the phone. Afterwards it asks me for a security code to unlock itself (I have full keyboard to do it, not only numeric pad). During setting up MfE account I did not set up security code and trying all the possible passwords that come to my mind did not help at all. The device is locked and can't do anything about it. I thought I could flash it with winflasher but I'm afraid to loose my photos - is there a chance that refalshing will not remove my photos? Or is there any other way to extract photos from my N9 before flashing? On seconde notice, I think it's worth mentioning that along with MfE I set up track and protect service - but it did not ask for a security code either and I remember all other passwords, i.e. the one to log on T&P webpage - so I'm pretty sure that the problem is not due to T&P. I will appreciate any help :( EDIT: solved - apparently the password that worked was none connected with Nokia account, MfE or T&P account. It was the one I used when pairing the device with my PC over bluetooth - maybe this helps someone, but it's still really strange... |

Any update from somebody else? Regards, hosick. |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I have a curious problem with N9 MfE client and Zimbra Network Edition 7.2 we are implementing; I can see contents of only HTML-messages, and not plain text messages. One would expect problems other way around, as it has been in the past with Zimbra.
Plain text messages are visible in the inbox, but no preview available and there is just a blank message field when I open one. At least Android 4.0 does not have this problem, nor does the configuration to our old Exchange 2007. I already tried to switch to only plain text mode on N9 MfE through email settings, so I'm a bit of stumped currently. Tips anyone? Thanks for any help! EDIT: For anyone looking answer for this, the solution was to download MeMailSettings from Ovi Store, also mentioned in this thread somewhere as well in a thread of its own. Then enable 'Fetch full message's MIME' under MfE-account with it. After this reboot. Note that already synced emails won't be readable, but all new ones will be. Thanks Sergey and Anton! :) |

Just flashed my N9 today and I'm still having the same problem you guys are. I wonder why it stops randomly syncing.

EDIT: Androids using Exchange rather than MS' own client are also reporting problems.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...8-cdd93f0a0e04 Seems like MS did something and no one can connect via m.hotmail.com anymore. Maybe it's to push them to use official clients...?[/QUOTE] Thank you for this link. Glad to know it's the m.hotmail.com server and not my phone. |

I really hope PR1.3 will clean up contact management on N9... It's a real mess, I sync with N8: mess each contact, I sync with Lumia 800: same....
I have no way to save my N9 contacts... :/ Except within the backup app of the N9... |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I've recently come across an odd error with my nokia n9 MfE emails: every once in a while, they get stuck in my outbox and give a 'sending failed' error. If one gets stuck, the rest seem to as well - meaning I lose the ability to send emails until I delete the blocking email. Resending always fails (EDIT: it sometimes will send if I edit the original message and send it again; never sends if I long press and choose 'resend'), and a reboot doesn't help either. I've tried deleting my MfE account, rebooting, and recreating it but the error still occurs. I'd previously used MfE on my Nokia N8 without problems with this server, so don't think it's a problem on that end.
I did a bit of searching and couldn't find anyone with a similar error, so I turned on logging and have attached the relevant parts of my logs in the hope that someone can interpret these and let me know what the problem is. Any advice is greatly appreciated. msgindexer.log: Quote:

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hello everybody,
I'm facing Emails problems that I can't solve by myself... I used to be connected through my Gmail account directly. All was well until I deleted very old mails (like Facebook notif from ... the beginning of Facebook until now) but (not a good idea) my N9 started to download my whole gmail account (the 3 Gb and more mails) from the beginning (as If deleting old mails was an event and the N9 considered to download all that happened since that event). It drained the battery in a matter of 30 minutes or less, and as soon as I started the device again, it downloaded old mails. The only way I had was to delete my Gmail account on the N9. When I installed it back, it didn't want to connect : the app started, and when I clicked on the synchronise button, the round square at the top right corner began to turn, but nothing else happened, no down-arrow appeared on the status bar. If I tried to send a mail, it did the same, and if I clicked on the mail I was trying to send, it closed the app. I've already flashed my device twice, with different combinations like - Save, Flash, Restore -> started to DL old mails again. - Delete Gmail account, Save, Flash, Restore -> do the round square turning thing and nothing else. - Installed MfE to get my mails, it works but I have no notifications of new mails. And I'm here... I would like to be connected directly through my Gmail account again, so does anyone know or can tell me what to do to find out what's happening ? Thanks for any help... |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I am experiencing a glitch with mail after PR1.3 update. I have 3 IMAP accounts - 2xGMail and 1xOther, all of them set to "always up to date".
Regularly some of these accounts stop updating. Never happened before. It can be that at the same time one of the GMails is updating OK, when the other is failing without any error message displayed. I notice this when I check update status/time of accounts. When I manually update the "stalled" account there are new messages in it. It is solved, by deactivating the problematic acc., and then activating it. For several hours everything is OK, until this happens again. Still have not deleted and recreated the accounts anew. EDIT: After enabling PSM and then disabling it, accounts do not auto update. |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Sergey due to hotmail having problems with MfE i switched to using other mail account. However, upon adding my account it attempts to sync back all my emails. Is there an option to limit this to a certain time-frame as i've set to download both messages and attachments and have thousands of emails in my 4 accounts which fills up application data storage.
thanks... |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hi all,
I'm in a business trip atm, so I don't think that I will be able to check this thread quite often. I had no chance to install my lovely Debian on a laptop, yet, so that's why (plus to much work on a new project, a lot of things to visit in a new for me city, etc,) there is no update for MeMailSettings. Hopefully, I'll be able to update before the end of July. Quote:
"QNetworkReply::RemoteHostClosedError - the remote server closed the connection prematurely, before the entire reply was received and processed" Unfortunately, I have no idea what causes this network error. Quote:

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Not solved in PR 1.3 - email notification - 'It works very well for new email notification for the first mail coming in. Then if I did not check that new mail and let it be there, there will be no more notifications (sound or vibration) for the following new mails coming in. Just you can see the increase of new email numbers on the notification screen. Only after you check the emails and clear the new mail signs, it start to play the sound and vibrate when receive the first new mail, and problems again after that."
Could be a setting in .ini file somewhere? |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I added an MfE account (using N9 with pr1.3). It won't connect to the exchange server.
When I was setting up the account, it asked to create a security code. I did not realize this was a security code for locking the N9. How can I remove the security code? Under Settings/Security there are no options to disable. (I set it up to text me the code to another mobile.) I've tried setting non-provisionable device to on, but has no effect - does not enable any additional selections under security. Would deleting the account help? It's not working any way. At the moment, I get 5 tries for the security code and it locks after 15 minutes. These selections cannot be increased. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Has no effect. No option to turn off. No way to incrrsse no. of tries or delay. Deleting MfE account has no effect.

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
in PR1.2 I started having an issue with Fenix, which wasn't fixed in PR1.3: when trying to change folder, the mail client just crash, apparently with a segmentation fault.
I don't know if it's related, but at one point I had MemailSettings installed. It's now removed and I recreated the mail account after that, just in case. Any idea how to debug/fix that? |

Then delete the device from your Exchange profile in your Outlook Web Access preferences. Now you can try again adding the device without the lock code. Exchange remembers that your device was fully provisionable eg. supports the code until you delete the previous assignation of the device from the profile. Also Exchange settings may have policy enabled that does not allow non-provisionable devices at all (eg. it refuses contact). 5 tries and 15 minutes rules are also decided by the same policy settings, eg. you may have to get into touch with your email admin unless you are one, of course. :) |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Now that Sergey was seen in this thread, a question regarding Zimbra and N9 and N900, please.
We are migrating to opensource based Zimbra Network Edition 7.2 (that is supposed to have full ActiveSync version 12 support as is in Exchange 2007). However MfE in N9, N900, E7 and E5 phones mangles nordic characters so, that any plain text message content that contains them are not visible at all in the phone. Reply to these blank messages tells us that there is in fact message, but its content is just not shown when reading it from the phone due to wrong character set. (Probable reason being here is that Exchange has a bad habit of enforcing the character set in all emails, disregarding content type headers possibly before the activesync API and this makes it always work with MfE, while Zimbra fails only because it is playing by the book.) I understand that this is something Zimbra devs should look into, and we are waiting our premium support account to create a case for them. However you already made it possible to get around this problem in N9 with MeMailSettings with option to enable "download messages full mime" that gives the email client a bit more to chew on than just the basic headers and the content. The question is, are there similar option for N900 (or Nokia E7s and E5s)? I browsed Modest settings a bit with gconf editor on N900 but I don't know any possible strings to put into attributes I found there, and I don't know if they are just for IMAP or also for activesync/mfe-part of the email client. Can you shed some light if it is possible download full mime on N900 too? Short answer will do. Thanks! :) Sorry for longwinded explanation... |
