You should put your hand up, if they know you're looking I'm sure you'd be appealing to them, but you may be happy where you are.

Sorry to hear about your N9, it's worthwhile looking into a housing replacement, there's some good threads here about that.
Many users have reported improved buttons & less "creakiness" with their enclosure* after a successful replacement.

Also are you aware of the Summer 12' device program?
IIRC all of the devices have been won for 3x of the program's categories.
One was transferred over to the coding comp category (26 all up), which is still going.
If you're still working for Nokia you may not be eligible, not sure about that, qgil would be the best person to ask.

Luckily I got my N9 not in the store ;) so, I don't want a replacement, it is better to just fix this small issue (when I'm back in Russia).

Simple answer. I don't know, because I never worked with N900. I might try to ask someone who implemented as-daemon for N900 about it.

No I didn't mean a complete replacement, I meant the housing, you can get genuine ones on eBay, not expensive, see some of the great threads here.

Great, then you should have no problem applying for the coding competition, only if you want to of course! :)

I want to report that after some more time with PR1.3 performance of mail on my N9 is back to normal. Issue I reported(always_up_to_date not always working) is gone.

EDIT 14.07.2012: One day later issue is back - one of my GMail accounts suddenly stopped auto updating.

@Sergey_Kashin
Is there a way to start/stop logging without rebooting the device? Killing/restarting a certain process?

[QUOTE=Manatus;1236300]Delete the account in N9, then turn the lock code off from your phone's security settings.

I've deleted the account. As I said previously, there is no option in security (or any where else that I can see) to turn off the lock code. I must be missing something.

Well, there should be setting to turn the automatic locking off in the same place where you can change your code or assign a phone number where it is sent in case you forget it. If such options are not under N9 security settings -> locking (note: I'm guessing these as my phone is in Finnish), I think it has to be reflashed. The lock code that Exchange enforces is the same as the device code in those settings. I have never tested if the option disappears altogether with the strictest settings in Exchange, though (the setting is global in ours).

Note that the setting is exactly that; to turn the automatic locking off. The code still remains, but it just isn't asked anymore and this is the case always. You can totally remove the code, even the default '12345', only by more extreme means of disabling aegis using open kernel or nitdroid kernel.

In case that your Exchange has 'Allow non-provisionable devices' off and 'Require password' on in its policy, there is no way of getting past assigning the code again, so it would be best to check those first.

Yes, if you want to get activesync logs -> kill as-daemon process (IIRC it should be possible to do it from the console).
For Fenix logs -> fenix process.
For IMAP/POP3/SMTP logs -> messageserver and msg-indexer (in the same order, messageserver and only after that msf-indexer).

Then I guess I would have to reflash. I've checked all the security options (I have it set to text the security code to another mobile phone) - there is simply no new options, and none to turn off the locking.

What does "provisionable" mean?

I'm not sure why Exchange requires such "security". I can get the Exchange server through a web page which remembers my user id and password. Anyone who had my phone could get to my Exchange e-mail if they had my phone (before I turned on the security code).

^So is this why Hotmail MfE's no longer working? (see the 1st "Answer")

I tried the alternative server address found here*:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...17#post1214317
I haven't checked my own logs yet to see if the server I need is different to the usual: m.hotmail.com.

This is an interesting point too....

Maybe there's some sort of live.com specific config. that WILL work?

if you use debug-m.hotmail.com you can sync everything but emails...make sure to turn mail sync off...for mail you need to create an account using other mail which means no push and at best a 10min sync cycle...

Sergey could you help with regards to the Hotmail issue...M$ say they have upgraded their servers and the client side needs to be updated... I know development for the n9 is almost nill but cant a workaround be issued?

Bummer, I was only using Hotmail MfE for mail, nothing else... :-/
Oh well, not a huge issue for me personally, don't use Hotmail for email as much as Gmail.
Plus never really cared about up-to-date (push) for many of my accts, mostly have it set at intervals.
So a bog standard mail acct set-up, as opposed to a MfE one will suffice I guess.

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

according to this tread,
Quote:

List of Supported devices:

The following devices are supported for syncing Hotmail with EAS:
1. Windows Phone
2. iPhone/iOS
3. Android/Hotmail Seven App
4. Any device that properly implements the EAS 2.5 or 14 standard
EAS 2.5 is properly supported by N9, moreover, EAS 14 is supported too (not fully supported, but still it can be used for syncing). Can someone build MeMailSettings from a new_protocol_support branch and check will it work or not if you are forcing as-daemon to use protocol 2.5 or 14?

NOTE: I haven't tested this branch well, so be careful with other accounts.

@Sergey

So you're saying if we use the latest build of MeeMailSettings to force as-daemon* to use protocol 2.5 or 14...
Then we may be able to use Hotmail MfE again... Instead of having to set-it-up as a: "Other mail account"?

*what's that?

I don't know if it is possible or if it has been answered before, but is there a command line or dbus to ask for more emails to be downloaded for one account? (ie, doing automatically something equivalent to the "Get more messages" button)

And the opposite way, is it possible to remove old emails from the "cache"?

Many thanks for this, Sergey!

I am not sure where to find the "as-daemon" setting but using the source I deployed the build to my N9 and found a setting called "Force EAS protocol version" in the Easy tweak mode.

When I turned it on, a text box was displayed. I entered "2.5" and pressed "Save Setting".

That was it.

My Hotmail emails are now syncing.

Edit: I've attached the build, but as Sergey has warned, you may use it with caution..

Edit 2: Managed to build it with a version number 1.0.1 so the software updater won't bug you to update to v0.0.9. It can be found here: http://db.tt/0iZOlKWD

I can't express how thankful I am for this!!!!!!! Just tested and worked perfectly!

I've been living with no mfe for hotmail for the past month and it has been the most frustrating experience. I've been a big fan of MS since I had my hotmail account years ago and have always preferred hotmail over gmail. To see it breaking and MS not doing a darn thing about it was the worst. I was seriously considering giving up on hotmail if this wasn't gonna get fixed soon.

This is soo awesome!

I didn't do anything special. I had a QT Creator setup based on harmattan documentation.
I simply downloaded the branch, opened up the project, clicked build and deploy menu items in Qt creator, and the version got installed.
I don't know much about Qt but I had set it up a few months back to learn app development for the N9.

Anyway I've attached the build to my previous post.

I made the adjustment and it seemed to work fine.

It started syncing for around 15 mins but now I get the error:
"Data storage full. Free up some space first."

I found this thread:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1183924 which pointed the problem at being related to calendars - but I don't have any set up.

Has anybody got any ideas what may be causing this?

did you install pr1.3 using nokia suite which restored your backup? i you did then do a clean flash as nokia suite restores your emails to the storage partition but you cant access them so when you add back your accounts space taken for your emails is double or even triple...i had it too...

Still no fix for this? I'm on pr 1.3 and have gmail set up under mail for exchange. I've deleted and set up the account numerous times - will get a few good syncs, and then it will just stop syncing, citing being unable to connect to the server. This happens with full service or connected to a wifi network. Terribly frustrating.

Ashley download the file from this post.

after installing the app, open it and select your hotmail mail for exchange account. Then switch on the toggle for force eas protocol and enter 2.5 as the version. Click save and you are done. This setting is available is the easy tweak mode of the app.

First - thanks a lot for your help - this forum seems to reestablish my believe in the N9.
Unfortunately I am a complete beginner considering going into the depths of the Operating system.
So - I know I have to activate (and how to do that) the developer mode.
If I understood you right (please correct if not), I then have to download the attached file of your post, install it (I know I have to allow external sources first - I hope this is easy to find), and then -
what happens then?
Where do I find these memail account settings you were referring to?
Right now I only use the built in mail accounts ("accounts" on the main screen) - is this what you call MeMail or do I need another app?
Thanks a lot for your help - I admit I am a little lost here.

Thanks a lot for your help - I admit I am a little lost here.

ok first go to settings app on your home screen then click on applications --> installations --> enable installations from non-trusted sources

Then download and install the file from the post you quote...

It'll install an app called MeMail...open it and change the settings as I've described the in the post above you...

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

Does anyone know if there is a limit on how far in the future calendar events will be synced? While syncing my google calendar, it seems like only events in the next 5-6 weeks are shown on the N9.

Wow - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
You completely reinstalled my believe in the N9!!!
It works - after more than 1 month without anything, I can finally sync everything again!
You guys are really, really great:):):)
Just for the other beginners:
The instruction was perfect, but I had to change the connection server from m.hotmail.com to dub-m.hotmail.com (as described in several forums the 3 letters in the adress line of your browser when you log into windows live on a pc) and then I had to restart the device.
I did not activate the developer mode - was not necessary.
Thanks a lot again!!!

Just want to say thanks for this tweak. After two months unable to synch with Hotmail, and with almost zero response from Microsoft on the issue, I now can once again.

You are the best! Thanks and thanks and thanks and thanks again!!!!
