I have 'get' message and attachment selected rather than just headers, is that where you mean?
I still get some messages with only headers, and some perfectly ok |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I have selected 'get messages and attachments'. Some emails are fine, others only show the headers.
When I 'reply to all' only the sender is replied to, none of the cc's appear. |

What I mean is I have mail from maybe a year ago, that I need to reference, is there no way of pulling it all in, so that the older mails in the folders show was well? Sorry if I wasn't clear. Also, is there no way to add flagging to messages? That's an integral part of MfE for me, I could do it on every other platform that used it. |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Continuum to my previous messages:
Problem description: Account Setup -> Add Account -> Mail for Exchange fails; a) Sign in offers an "incorrect certificate", after accepting setup fails with "Check account settings.", b) Manual Setup throws screen with login credentials continuously w/o error, unless route a) has been taken 1st. Workaround: No workaround known/found. Tried adding the (very valid and CA signed) SSL-certificate manually over Blutooth from OWA/Webmail to the N9. It was installed properly under Settings -> Security -> Certificates and visible under e.g. User certificates (the whole chain). Did not help with the problem. Another certificate is still being offered when choosing the "Sign in" -option (as previously explained). Note that this particular certificate does not seem to get 'Saved' anywhere, at least I cannot find it in the same store. This would lead to think that the N9 has also a secondary certificate store, like supposedly the N900 has/had in the past? Nothing gets into activesync.log from multiple tries of setting up an MfE account. (Please note that I'm not trying to access over Corporate network, but public Wifi and 3G. Logging into the webmail does not and has not prompted any certificate notifications.) Ideas? Update: Case a) reason seems to be that the automatic settings with firstname.lastname@domain.com connects to another server, which is not the same as webmail.domain.com and the Exchange auto-discovery does not work (noticed that the certificate has another hostname than our webmail-server). Still, manual settings do not fly either. |

How do you configure your mail account? You go to the Accounts application, right? Which account do you select there? |

P.S. Unfortunately, there is no way to get logs from account plugin :( (if you don't have an access to /var/log/syslog). |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I'm using MfE (PR1.1) connecting to my Gmail.
1. Mail -- works really well. Delete from Gmail, and N950 updates. Same with marking an email as read/unread. 2. Calendar -- There's a bug from N950 to Gmail. Calendar entry description is not synced back to Exchange. Exchange to Calendar app works however. 3. Contacts -- 2-way update works well. |

Update: Interesting, seems that I get the same log entry repeated even if I type a wrong password, instead of the correct credentials. Maybe my password with some special characters (e.g. 1st char) could be the cause? Will investigate further. |

In the accounts section, yes. My MfE account. The one I use to choose "all mail" (i.e All mail that's on the server, from any time in the past) on every other platform other than Maemo or Meego. When you then setup the "when and how often " to sync, the furthest back you can go is two weeks, meaning any mail that's older than 2 weeks in your IMAP folders is not displayed, even after syncing them. The N900 had the same limitation. Am I missing something here? |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I still have the problem that some emails only have headers downloaded, even though I have selected 'get messages and attachments. But some come through ok.
Also cc'd people are not included when 'reply to all', |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hello!
I'm not sure if this has been covered already but hopefully not ;-) A search didn't help... Out of the box (the N9) I started fresh with one SIM card and added two email accounts, one gmail and one Pop3 and apart from some initial trouble with outgoing smtp and tsl/ssl it worked well. Then I changed to another SIM card and after that both accounts wouldn't sync anymore. Usually this kind of thing triggers a password prompt on other OS's. I had to perform a full reset as removing and adding the accounts didn't help. Otherwise I think email works as good as I hoped for. Regards, Per |
Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hi!
When I started to write this, I was going to just come with praise, but as I have played a bit more, I have a couple of questions... :P I'm actually very happy with the email-client in general. It does what I need - and better than any built-in email app I've seen so far. 1) It seems this "always updated" (or what the text says in english) for MfE isn't really always. It's more like every 15 minutes or something. This was working nicely with my N900 (and also every other phone I've tried). Not a very big problem, but when I have "always updated" with an IMAP account, it's makes a sound immediately, as I would expect MfE to do also. 2) I would really appreciate an option to choose what folder to save sent emails in for IMAP. Now they are coming in "Sent", which at least is much better than just some local storage. But it would be awesome to choose that folder. I would be more than happy with just an gconf-setting or something... Otherwise, great work! Really happy :) Regards, Stian |

To do this hack you need to: 1) Connect your device to PC in mass storage mode. 2) Open /home/user/.accounts/accounts.db (it is an SQLite database, so you need something like sqlitebrowser to open and edit it) 3) In this DB you should find in "settings" table an "email/past_time" setting (this is a string in the 'key' column) for your MfE account and change value to 0. 4) Save DB. 5) Disconnect your device from PC. 6) Reboot the device. 7) Sync your MfE account (if it will not start syncing automatically). WARNINGS: 1) This hack might confuse you a bit, because after that hack you will see sync back mails as "3 days" value (plus it might overwrite this setting in the DB, so it's better to not save it at all (or even not open mail account settings)). 2) Manual changes in the accounts DB might corrupt the DB, so, in case of any troubles, you'll have to recreate ALL accounts (this is means that you will lose ALL accounts info). !!!!THIS IS NOT SOMETHING RECOMMENDED TO DO. DO IT IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK - All the accounts can be corrupted!!!!!!! |

Solution: As a (current) workaround, don't use special characters in your password. My 'secure' password seems to have been the cause. MfE account setup works perfectly with another (plain) password, seems that the software doesn't currently escape certain characters properly. E.g. a password starting with $. I trust you will have this fixed for the future. |

For Other Mail Account (IMAP for example) you can enable it almost by the same way: go to the accounts app -> tap on the account -> enable sugnature -> edit text (if needed) Quite simple, isn't it? :D P.S. I thought it should be enabled by default... Quote:

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Hi, small feedback, I have the "Inbox not recognized" bug, too.
I have a old ovi account, transfered now to the hoster yahoo. Only for your information. So, to nail down this bug: I have the german language settings set on my N950. And at the Mailclient appears a empty Folder "Eingang" - the german translation of "Inbox". I'm unable to mark this folder with a star, so it is perhaps a special folder. But I have no such Folder hat the IMAP server. There the folder is called "Inbox" and I'm able to access this Inbox Folder at your Mailclient without problems. But it is accessed like any other folder - and I'm able to favourite it. Additionally to my Folders on the Server I have several other empty german Folders like "Ausgang". So I guess this is a translation problem. Perhaps the "Inbox" is somewhere translated where a translation will cause a bug. Hope this helps. Keep on the good work! :) |

Thanks a lot Sergey, will give it a go. Is it something that you would be looking to address in future updates? How come it's a standard feature on other MfE devices? The same question about flags please, will they ever be coming? |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
I can't send any message from my imap account. From watching smtp traffic it looks like n9 tries to use BURL extension when talking to my smtp server, server which don't support it and don't publish it in its capabilities list. My guess is that email client have buggy code similar to http://meego.gitorious.org/meego-mid...t.cpp#line1125 where it check if imap or smtp server is capable of using BURL, but not if both flags are set simultaneously.

I'm one of the two persons responsible for this server, and I can't really imagine what could be wrong... Anyway it works nicely with Android, iOS, Maemo... How do I provide the necessary logs so you can have a look? Btw, when I send mail through SMTP, I just get my email-adress as sender, not my name as I would expect and like :) I guess this is a known bug? And last, when you said "Noted" about my wish for a feature to choose folder to save sent messages; I guess there's no hope what so ever that it will ever come? I mean, I understand you can't promise me anything, but is it a possibility, or is it not going to happen? :) I really have to agree with the others appreciating your work, it's very impressive the effort you are putting into this thread! Can you please notify Meego forum if something like this starts here? I don't usually follow talk.maemo.org (as well as many others I suppose), so I easily missed this one.

^ Agreed,
The two threads Nokia devs have started in this sub-forum should by stickied by a mod (sjgadsby?). And also linked-to (and stickied) from the MeeGo handset sub-forum... Sergey you & your colleague are missing a large cross-section of people is this isn't done. Cheers. |

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here
Sorry for arriving late to this useful thread...
I've raised two defects/enhancements against the N950 Beta1 and Beta2, which are still not addressed in PR1.1 (2.2011.39-5): 1. Trigger new email alert with each new email. With the device only alerting the user on receipt of the first email, when the user may be out of earshot, and never again for any subsequent new emails until an email is read by the user, the audio notification for new emails is essentially unreliable and useless. 2. Manually display remote content, or only if the sender is a known contact. Currently, remote content (images etc.) can be either always on or always off. With the ON or OFF option buried in Settings, this is extremely inconvenient, and leaving remote content always on is a significant privacy risk as tagged images are a well known method used by spammers to determine if an email account is still active. Both of the above defects/enhancements were also raised against the original N900 firmware, and after much persistence from the Maemo community fixed in a later firmware update. I'm *really* surprised therefore to see that the same design mistakes have been repeated with MeeGo and the N9/N950! Hopefully both defects can be fixed in time for PR1.2. |
