Anyone know what happened to the "Smart Birthday" feature in Calendar (pulls birthdays from contacts, automatically displays them in the calendar)?

This was working in Beta1 on the N950, but is no longer functioning since Beta2.

my existing problems are: every few days my other email accounts stop connecting to the server. I have to delete them and create them again.

And I still have the problem of some emails not showing messages, only titles.

Does anyone know how to download images once you shut off automatic downloading of images?

i have the same problem as 888. Every 2-3 days, my yahoo mail account stops connecting to the server. Error reads 'smtp address not available' or something like that. I only have that one email account set up...
i can't send emails either.

It's getting frustrating having to delete and set up my email every few days.

I've got hotmail and yahoo accounts with auto setup, no encryption or authentication as far as I know. Have another set up for my work emails which does have.

All work fine for a few days, except for the odd message with titles only. Then they all stop connecting.

About the problem of receiving emails with titles only: could it be because they are too long?

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

N950/PR1.1 bug:

I'm also noticing that the email scheduling is not being respected. For example, Google account, Gmail schedule set as follows: Always up-to-date, 08:00 to 01:00, Monday-Sunday, Off peak set to Off yet I'm still receiving email at 03:00 which shouldn't be happening, but it does, and it's not easily reproducible either (just sent myself an email, not delivered so it's not all mail, just some).

This scheduling bug didn't happen with Beta1 or Beta2, although that was when I was using the "Other Mail" account for Google Mail, only since PR1.1 have I been using the new Google account for GMail.

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

I have an issue whereby I can't send email from away from home. I can send and receive without issue from my home wireless connection, but trying to send away from home via cellular network or another wireless connection doesn't work. (receive still works ok) I have tried contacting my ISP and they have offered a few settings with no success. I am getting 'error occurred' or 'can't connect to smtp server or it doesn't exist'. It is not a problem with my ISP as I had this working fine on the N97 and N900 previously. (Still do in the case of the N900). Tried changing every setting SSL on and off. Changed port numbers between 25 and 587 -removed and re-added account multiple times without luck.

I see others also having this problem so something is obviously wrong with the software?

Is this a known issue? It is frustrating, especially as I am off overseas shortly and will be wanting to use this feature.

Although I can send email through Gmail without problems, I would like to use my everday email account to send and receive.

Thanks

I created an account with my provider address (automatic creation NOT manual) and with this account I can send e-mail without problems.

but if I create an account manually (own server) sending is not possible.

seems there is a problem when you create accounts manually.

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

ok...maybe I have something...

it is not the smtp-server (postfix) the problem, but the imap-server (cyrus).

but I don't know why :-(

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

Solved!

If you have a folder named: something like "sent" (Sent, sent-items, zz_Sent) then it doesn't function.

Maybe the application tries to save the mail in this folder but something goes wrong.

I have read somewhere that the mail application use "burl" and this function isn't implemented in a lot of imap servers.

So I deleted my mail account on the device (you HAVE to delete the account)...renamed "Sent" to "Zent"...re-created the account on the device...now I can send mails.

That's really strange!

Problem: only the primary calendar is synced.

Is there a possibility that N9 will support syncing multiple calendars from a Google account over Exchange? As I understood it Exchange only supports 1 calendar / account, but there are some workarounds (at least for iOS devices http://www.google.com/support/mobile...&answer=139206). I guess I could use a separate CalDAV for the extra calendars but it would be nicer to use just one account for contacts, email and calendar.

if i remember correctly, you can do it by changing your desktop browsers user agent to iphone, going to the google accounts iphone page, and selecting which calendars you want to add.

the above description is a bit vague, hopefully someone comes with less hazy recollection and clears it up

That worked perfectly. Thanks! What I did:
  1. Change browsers user agent to iPhone (e.g. with an addon, with developer mode in Safari)
  2. Go to https://m.google.com/sync?hl=en
  3. Login and select N9 from the device list
  4. Select the calendars you wish to sync
  5. Next sync on your phone should bring int the additional calendars

My next problem is with Google Apps and the keycode it requires. My "normal" google account via exchange didn't impose any keycode requirements, but our companys google apps account does. And I couldn't find a way to turn it off. Is this something that is configured from the Exchange server (in this case, the Google Apps admin)?

I'm experiencing an issue with exchange 2003 when I start to get warnings about my password is about to expire (2 weeks before it actually do). This seem to cause the sync to fail most of the time.

I've enabled logging for actiesync and it can seem like there is a http status 403 (forbidden) causing the failure. See attached log snippet.

A bit anoying since the company I work for got requirements to change my password every 3 months.

It is sad that only one MfE account can sync contacts.

I have a work Exchange account from which i want to sync mail, calendar, contacts.
I also have a google account from which i want to sync email, calendar and contacts.

And well, now I can either use contacts from my work or my private contacts. But i can not sync both.

Does anyone know a workaround for this?

I need my work and private contacts on my phone :-(

Well done for finding a solution!

If the IMAP server supports URLAUTH and the SMTP server supports BURL and there is a sent folder detected on the IMAP server then the N9 should upload the message directly to the sent folder on the IMAP server and access it from the SMTP server using BURL. This avoids sending every message twice (once to the SMTP server, and again to the IMAP sent folder) which is normally necessary when using IMAP/SMTP and a sent folder on server.

However there appears to be a logic bug in the client so that if (the IMAP server supports URLAUTH or [wrong should be and] the SMTP server supports BURL) and there is a sent folder detected then an attempt to use BURL is made.

I've reported this bug, with a suggested fix. Won't be fixed in 1.1, hopefully next release after that.

This is not officially supported.

It should be possible to do by editing the qmailstore.db file directly, and using sql, but it's not simple. I can probably look into it if you really want to know how to do it.

As I said this is not officially supported. You can corrupt the mail database. You will have to do it at your own risk.

I don't know if it's connected, but as I wrote earlier, I found my sent emails saved in "Sent", which I was kind of happy about. But for some reason (don't ask...) I deleted the "Sent" folder.

Then I always got an error message "An error has occured" or something when sending. The mail would be sent, but not saved. I even restored the "Sent"-folder from backup, but it still wouldn't work. Not untill I deleted and re-created my account on the N9.

Wouldn't it make sense if it created the "Sent"-folder if it did not exist? Or am I seeing this bug?

Anyway, I'm really happy with the email client on N9. Except for the obvious bugs that we are told will be fixed, it's very good!

Hi!

Well, if it's not too much work, I'd be happy to know how to do it. I will not say that I'm very experienced with SQlite, but I have used it before, and "normal" SQL I deal with daily.

But this also means that the only thing missing to let users change sent-folder is the UI-part? I guess servernames and everything is already written to the DB, so it's just one more field... Interesting :)

Thank you for your awesome work, all of you!

Re: N9/N950 Email/Mail for Exchange - Get help & give feedback here

Issues I've had using Exchange on the N9:

(1) Won't connect if I select 'Non-provisionable device' although server does not require it.
(2) Takes aeons to update if you have a large number of folders in your email account. There is no way to select a partial list of folders. I gave up after continuous syncing of over 14 hours.
(3) Contacts info was deleted by N9, synced back to Exchange server. I lost about half my contact info. Luckily I had a backup. May be related to point (2) - the deletions occurred during this marathon 'sync' that never completed (due to large number of folders in email account, it seems).

Are you sure that server does not require it? There shouldn't be any problems with this setting. Did you checked the activesync logs? What kind of error do you have?

in PR1.0 favourite folders support is not implemented for MfE accounts, so this issue should be fixed in update (just because not all emails will be synced to device :) ).

Hi - Logs for the mail issue attached. Still can't send SMTP mail from home ISP when away from home. I managed to emulate the problem. Hopefully you'll see what the problem is in the logs.

A little question:

I have a N9 and I have manually set up my company exchange account and I don't have the option to enable push email. Where is this option?

Thanks a lot

go to accounts-> tap on your MfE account -> tap on schedule -> here you can configure your schedule sync settings (you need 'always up-to-date' option).
