Re: Grand Central Invite

I was fortunate enough to receive an invite from a forum member here, so I'd like to invite others and spread the love!

I have a quick question though: when I click on "invite" I get a form with space for up to 10 email addresses to invite. Unlike GMail where you could see a little "countdown" for how many invites you have remaining, I have no idea whether this is a "one shot 10 people" invite, or whether if I invite 2 people that I'll be able to invite only 8 next time.

Could someone please confirm how this works for me? I'd like to pass along the good will here, but at the same time I want to invite some friends and want to know exactly how these invites work.

Thanks!

hi y'all... i'd love to receive an invite, as i'm trying to implement a solution to make my office more contiguous with remote users. was shown GC yesterday by a client, and would love to try it out to see if it's the answer i'm looking for.

cheers!

Dave, you should have one now!

And FYI, I submitted the form with 8 (of the 10) fields filled in, and what happened is that now the invite screen has the 8 fields already perma-filled in, and I have two blank editable rows.

So, looks like you get 10 invites, and you can send them at different times. That means I have two left. PM me with your email address and I'll send 'em out!

Hello,
if there is another invite for Grandcentral that someone has floating around I would greatly appreciate it if they could throw it my way. I am using the Nokia n810 with intents on heavy traveling and skype lacks some of the features i would need to make this fully reasonable. ONce again an invite if you have one sent to spacepimp # gmail dot com would be awesome. thank you.

:)

Re: Grand Central Invite

just picked up an N800 recently (upgraded to OS2008) and have discovered it to be a really useful tool. I've been lurking for a bit on this site and have discovered many useful things from a very helpful community (though I'm still trying to figure out how to run a shell script to enable bluetooth PAN on the N800 so I can access the internet via my Blackjack 2).

Anyway, it would be useful to obtain one of these grandcentral numbers since I'm a consultant and having unified phone access would simplify things. Any generous souls willing to part with an invite to eaustin@gmail.com?

thanks...nhanquy for the invite. Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor to other forum members sometime soon

So glad I found this thread. I am having a horrible time with skypeIn. Desperate for a better solution. If anyone still has an invite for Grand Central, I would be extremely grateful. I'll be traveling soon for several months, and I'll be lost if I can't get this figured out.

Big Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Grand Central Invite

I'll give a hack... for everybody who is not in the states or any other country GrandCentral is actually working, or people who would like to have free inbound numbers in all countries and a really cheap forwarding service to a NON US number... there are many ways to make these, but it is the way I, for example need, living in Mexico and wanting to receive calls from France to my mobile... every service charges me about 20 to 40 cents per minute, so this workaround is cheaper...

1) Get a Tpad SIP account (you can be called by your friends with local access numbers in many countries and dial your 7 digit code)
2) Forward your Tpad account to your GrandCentral number (there is a small 1.7 cents minute fee)
3) Get a PhoneGnome account, activate SoftGnome Remote Access and Find Me/Follow Me (one month free)
4) Forward your GrandCentral account to your PhoneGnome SIP.

So they call you in any country Tpad has access numbers (free) you pay the forwarding to GrandCentral, and use the free forwarding to Phonegnome to get the call in your mobile... at almost 2 cents per minute

Enjoy your "free" forwarding month (Tpad fee of 1.7 cents still applies, but it still 10 times cheaper than a "normal" forwarding service to a mobile)!!! (Maybe you can cancel and open another account and go on forever, but this is not for sure, I guess you will need to buy after 31 days the "Premium" 25 USD package)

DOWNSIDE: you rely on 3 services to get calls

Other choice could be another service that permits SIP forwarding... but I haven't found one yet...

Anyway, can someone send me one?
yegaoo at gmail.com

Thanks!!!
