AFAIK:

* No flash support on WP? If not that makes it clear why we will not see it on N9. Because why would they allow it on N9 if not on WP?

* No NFC on WP? Well that means we will for sure not see any payment method on N9 :( Same as above why would they?

Nokia fails for every damn second now...

Well, it's of course a balancing act between recouping costs and not cannibalizing wp7 sales. Elop's main agenda is of course making sure wp7 is a success. It's a no brainer having N9 in the same markets would be 'disruptive' to wp7 sales.

The big mystery is how Elop managed to sell it to board of directors that Microsoft is more important than having a shot with Nokia's own platform.

I think the Asha series might have been a concession to the board? Remember, he is appealing to the traditional symbian/nokia users crowd and picking up WP7 users. He has either made a very good play here, dependant on the quality of the handsets, or he is hedging his bets.

Ah, but we already knew that the NFC in the N9 was not going to be of use for payments, given that the handset does not support SWP.

The saddest thing is now we have to wait for the white N9. I really don't want to be confronted with the "Is this the lumia?" question.

that is assuming the lumia will make an apperance down here. Btw if someone asks me if that's the lumia I will answer no this is not your sister.

if nokia leave on TMO users that how a phone should be both hardware and OS wise, they will certainly get a better phone i think

The Lumia 800 is decidedly first generation WP7 hardware when I halfway expected them to go with the STE U8500 hardware instead. That would have given Nokia an edge of sticking out, instead what they've done is wrap the external distinguishing part of the Nokia N9 and put commonplace Qualcomm hardware that has been in use in other phones for the last year.

On both the Nokia N9, which used the OMAP3 platform instead of the OMAP4 like the Motorola Atrix 2, and the Nokia Lumia 800 which uses the same Qualcomm QSD8250 chipset instead of the aforesaid STE chipset... they went out on the hardware as cheaply as possible without really risking much.

This is a "safe" bet. They can come out with better edition after Microsoft says that they can or should - yes, I'm under the impression that Microsoft pushed for this so that more people would hear or see WP7 on a device manufacturer the customers have previously trusted in order to get more mindshare.

I just am not impressed and for the record, I actually like WP7. This is not a huge step at all. This is a "release something now" move.

I'm glad I got a N9. Perhaps WP7 will be upgraded to where I'll rethink it. But this... isn't really a good showing. But it was a showing nonetheless and they did start shipping while still in conference. That's new.

Real new. Let's hope they continue that trend.
