So, this means that in a few days we will find an OS update in the app manager, even if we dont have install the CSSU ?

Well, without meaning any disrespect for the CSSU team, this update is coming from NOKIA.

CSSU will integrate this patch on their system, which is of course *also* a good thing.

Since I don't use CSSU, all I can say is thank you Nokia!

[BEGIN RANT] perhaps CSSU should focus more on this kind of critical updates or bug fixes of existing tools (e.g. modest, browser), instead of this "obsession" with portrait mode.[END RANT]

For once and all:
N900 is end of line. :-(

Nokia only delivers one security update and I somehow have the feeling that this is a favour of a tiny group at Nokia.

So thank this group and CSSU-team (I do not use CSSU currently)
and do not spread unnecessary and false rumors.

Who and how was contacted by Nokia? Was it the council as a Maemo community representative who was contacted? Or it was someone which has personal relations with Nokians?

The council was contacted and and I was cc'd.
@nokia.com addresses sent the email.
This was over a month ago and we were asked not to go public in case the update didn't happen.

The fixes on gitorious will be in it, yes, a CSSU update is still that.

A friend of mine who works at Nokia told me they have been toying with this new update for a month now, he uses an n900 and said it feels faster with the update. He also asked me not to share any details about this...

Plus from message #1 it's not even clear if 16.8 is already out or is the next version coming.

I bought my N900 from amazon.de (Germany) in February 2011. Warranty (24 months) is thus valid until February 2013.

SD69, I'm guessing you're getting confused, the first post clearly indicates the CSSU already includes the patches in version 16.8, which is the latest version that was out in September.

The patch that isn't in the CSSU is that to the control panel applet, it shows the DigiNotar certificates as normal ones rather than blacklisted ones.

Also, the wiki's changelog seems to be messed up, I pinged merlin1991 (he maintains/edits that page to fix it).

We could also do something to thak nokia and CSSU community.All users that have an n900 could send an email to nokia and thak them because they didnt forgot us, i still think that the CSSU community had a big impact to nokia, and because of that nokia decided to launch an update.Thaking them (CSSU and Nokia) is the least thing we could do, i`m not using CSSU but, i thak them.With this security update we will have a new flash update to ?

Gosh people.. stop living in Denial...Please.. only reason Nokia is coming out with the update is because of the DigiNotar Certificate Problem..and its Nokia responsibility to take care of it..but all you guys want are Apps, video calling etc...Nokia does NOT gives a crap about what you all want.. If you want something in your phone.. stop crying here day after day and learn Qt, gtk, and start working...
Contribute for Nemo/Meego for N900.. make it happen there...
Instead of wasting 5 mins here just to say.. i want this and that..use those 5 mins to read a tutorial on Qt. thanks.
