Bluetooth No Longer Detecting Phones?
About a week ago, my 770 stopped "seeing" available bluetooth phones with which to pair. I have since tried at least 4 different phones, and every time the 770 simply states that there is no phone detected. At this point, I am convinced that the problem lies with the 770, and not the phones.
I have already tried re-flashing my 770 with the Windows program to no avail. Is there anything else I can do on my own to fix this problem? I would hate to send it back to Nokia for warranty repair, as I am sure that it will take at least a month to get it back, and it works in all other respects. Thanks in advance for any helpful responses! |
Re: Bluetooth No Longer Detecting Phones?
My advice would be to open a bug in Bugzilla and also post in maemo developers, and hopefully one of the Nokia Bluetooth developers can respond and guide you through the process of debugging the problem.
See bug #865 for an example of what kind of things you need to do, information you need to provide and help you might receive. |

All I know is, this problem is not common for Nokia 770, but very common for PCs with build-in bluetooth. Also, try running "hcitool scan" command on xterm. If it gives the error "Device not found: No such device" then welcome onboard! Good luck and please also let me know if you can find a solution. |
Re: Bluetooth No Longer Detecting Phones?
I tried that, but all I got was "Scanning..." and then it returned to the command prompt. What does this mean?

Re: Bluetooth No Longer Detecting Phones?
If it is saying "Scanning..." then it's different then mine. Sorry I don't know what it means. I interpret as at least your bluetooth works but do not see other devices (somehow??).
See, mine doesn't even say scanning and gives the stupid error message. Likewisely, all other applications are fine and I don't want to send it back to Nokia. I saw your bug in Bugzilla and created a similar one. Waiting if someone helps! |
Re: Bluetooth No Longer Detecting Phones?
See my reference to bug 865 above, read the bug (I know it's technical, but do persevere) then try producing some diagnostic dumps yourself and paste the output into your own bugs in bugzilla - it may give Nokia a clue what is happening, currently they have precious little information to go on other than "it doesn't work".
