For some odd reason, my modest cache was taking up all of my optfs space (the 2GB optfs home partition).

Under /home/user/.modest/cache/imap, the cache was totalling 900MB even though I do not have offline IMAP enabled. cleaned the cache and now I freed up that space.

I'm not sure why my modest cache exploded all of a sudden.

Maybe, some databases are being randomly corrupted?.. Where should contacts be stored on the device?
Best wishes.

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

Besides my problem with audio volume described here I have encountered same problems as other users:

1. when using modest IMAP with one of my accounts (not google) it says "message not on server" or something similar. After I delete local cache with rm from /home/user/.modest/cache/mail/imap/<Account Name>/folders/<Folder Name> everything seems fine again.

2. when receiving a SMS I get the default message sound instead of the on I had chosen. In profile settings there is my choice still selected.

There is definitevly something wrong with notification sounds resulting even missed calls. After installing today CSSU-Testing 8.2 it rebooted and the first call sounded with my selected ringtone and I thought that everything is OK now. However, later I noticed that I have missed several calls and the following testing demonstrated that no ringtone was played when a call was received. So I rebooted the phone once more and after that the already familiar behaviour returned - the first call ringed with Nokia Tune and the following ones (without changing any settings) with my selected ringtone...

Now bunch of users are facing that frustrating bug with ringtones. Is any one here know at least where to look for faults?

Installed version T8.2 and works superfast with no problems experienced. Enjoying microB opening in a blink of an eye, and hildon-desktop is super smooth with orientation lock reinstalled and it finally locks in portrait ;)... Thumbs up from me... :)

Just a question why does it say (xxxx)kb left in root folder (low disk space)...? I have plenty of free space for apps and docs. feels wierd!

Anyway Keep it up CSSU Team...! you made my day? :)

Edit: Ringtone problem exist! I got 3times user set ringtone then Nokia Tune then 2times user set ringtone and then silent... :-( Please fix it in next update.

Any thing we (ringtone buggers) can do to find the way to fix this? Or what package to rollback (if possible). I supose the quick and as You call it "dirty" fix will be to set all ringtones to default and then swap the ones we use with the default ones - hope it's clear.
Might it be connected with the location of fingtones? I'm not going back to 7.2 - no f way:D

bummer....

well, except for latest KP and SSU I have nothing special on my n900, just normal apps, single (default) profile.

In profile the atmos ringtone is set, but when I call it is the Nokia tune. Any pointers as to where this is stored so I can check?

After updated to CSSU-testing 8.2 I have a new bug: if I starting device from power-button - i see white screen Nokia & after that - device shutdown. This repeated 1-2 time & after that device started normal.
Maybe it associate with - nowaday in the morning, alarm not worked when device were shut down. (install CSSU-testing yesterday)

Hello, I am having a problem, it may not be the fault of cssu but idk.
When I use wifi to browse the internet, app manager etc
After some time, like 20-30 minutes, sometimes less, it just stops working, but the icon still indicates that it is connected.
I always need to disconnect and connect again to make it work.
What is causing this problem? I

I have really no idea, because profiled daemon (which play ringtone) was not touched in CSSU T8. Maybe you can try to downgrade package by package and try to find which causing problem...

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

I have got one more bug: I use extended-media-control app which makes volume buttons to function as track change when camera button half pressed, and camera key to pause and play when device locked. It no longer works on T8 except camera key which still works to pause or play.

One more: LED light seems to malfunction sometimes when I get a missed call. Is it related also?

Edit: LED Bug solved after a cold boot.

For 3rd apps, please contact maintainer of apps. He will know better what hacks used in that apps. I do not know about any volume buttons remapping (or something else) in last CSSU-T.

After updating to the latest CSSU Testing, microb on freezes often with the message - "webpage not responding, forcefully close page? unsaved data may be lost". When this happens every other applications freezes too including the screen. Can someone more experienced advice me on what to do please?

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

I got a possible solution for the ringtone bug:

Solution:
1a: For Control-Panel-ProfileX users : Uninstall ProfileX and reinstall it once again.
1b. Reset the ringtone and all other settings once again. (Also in (Profiles) for ProfileX users).
2. Turn off N900.
3. Remove Battery.
4. Press and hold power button for 30 secs.
5. Replace battery and turn on the N900.
6. Check it by calling to your phone. (at least 5-7 times.)

//This solved my ringtone (Nokia Tune) problem. :)

@CSSU-T Team:
Hildon desktop is continously crashing when using slide to unlock from power button. Though it stops after a couple of screen on-off(s). It looks like an app is repeatatively closing. Is it related to T8?

p.s. I also have qtlockscreen on.

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

Hehe, profiled wasn't touched in Testing-8. So if you're having a profile-related problem, it wasn't CSSU-T's fault, I believe.

However, I do recall a profiled 0.30.2-1+0cssu1 having been recently dropped into one of the community repos. That one could definitely affect your 'tones.

But. Why would you keep installing those packages not sanctioned yet for CSSU-T or somesuch on your own? They're sort of "hidden" in the repos and you probably have to actively grab them on your own to install them, right?

It isn't nice to simultaneously install a pile of unrelated things and randomly generate a guess as to which one produces the problems.

[edit] I'm sorry -- I didn't mean to be blaming and bitchy about it. But I was. :/

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

new profiled in in CSSU devel repository, so this is irrelevant in this CSSU testing thread...

petur 2013-06-17 06:50

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

I was going to write that this has nothing to do with profiled since I didn't have it, turns out I actually have, BUT I can't really remember installing it.

I know this is getting offtopic, but how can I find out which package installed it?

Between the working ringtones and the misbehaving ones now, I only updated CSSU-T and Lanterne (IIRC). Maybe a change done by either of those triggers a bug in profiled then?

Pardon the rant but: Would be great if we can have some constructive thinking here, I've kinda had it with this box mentality (we didn't touch that, so not our problem), all software runs together on the system and weird interactions can never be ruled out just like that. </rant>

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

this may not be possible but could we include a pre-inst script to detect if the user has incorrect repos enabled during install and then stop and report an error message. For testing, error if devel is enabled. for stable releases, error if testing or devel enabled.

this might help in the future to eliminate possible issues

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

Sorry pal, no idea, to low ammount of details and no logs from syslog/whaever. You seems to be only one with such problem, with *seems* to indicate, that it may be related to particular things you've installed/modified in your system.

Without wide technical overwiew on WTF was state of your device, we can't help. You may want to reflash, then install cssu-test on *vanilla* system, before other modifications/programs. If problem doesn't manifest itself, then, it's not CSSU's fault.

/Estel

Everybody has profiled. It is the package responsible for switching between General and Silent profiles. Trust me, removing it is a major undertaking, thanks to an intricate mishmash of dependencies.

+1 for your "rant".

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

Yesterday I had to remove battery from N900, when I put it back it booted up after third time - so I was happy enough that it escaped from boot loop.
After that (without removing battery - right one was already inside) I switched device off, and tried to tun it on. The same stoty few boot loops and finally booted ok. I'm not even writing about ringtones :-D cause that was with no changes, a mess.

So having now only one device with all docs and stuff I need, as a N900 in working condition, I decidet to roll back to CSSU-T 7.2 which was the las one compleatly stable for me. So after doing so, with no problems what so ever, helped with booting. It's booting like it supposed to.

But when (after rolling back to 7.2) I sended testing text message - just to make sure, the ring tone was wtill f up. So 1st txt was with default Message1 tone, 2nd without sound, 3rd with user choosen tone. So I edited the 99.custom.ini file in profiled, choosing the right tones for each event (of course moving the copy of both files before messing around in safe place). Now it's ringing like it should, right tones for right event.

So my point is, the ringtone bug exists, and for sure it came to me after CSSU-T8, but rolling back to T7.2 did not helped at all. But T8.x is still in very early testing stage - and after boot loop got me too after "boot loop fix" update, I decided to go back to T7.2

Good bless, champs. Keep up the good work with CSSU's it is amazing to see new stuff coming into N900.

Edit: I was testing again with ringtones (call and text) after reboot. So editing the 99.custom.ini file which is located in /etc/profiled/99.custom.ini helped me to solve the ringtone mess.
