Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Cool one kontorrri. Its good news that nokia is directly working with you. If only they did that and supported more third party appliction compilers..... we would have more stable and useful applications.

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Ahh.. Thanks! I also hope that Nokia could participate a bit more in sending tips to developers when they see that something could be improved. For example I would love the get tips on how to improve the power management part of ukmp.
I also think that Nokia UI department might also be able to give a few nice tips to developers when they have the time. Roope's suggestion for example was brilliant. |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Wow, this looks ace, cant wait to use the new scrolling method
'dude is that an iPhone with the cool scrolling?', 'No its just my ultra cool 770 with ukmp' Just installed and instantly tried the interface, it is looking good, I am not kidding, I bow down to you, I'm now going to be cheaky and suggest the feature of playing music from other network devices like the media streamer :p Well done |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
from the video, there seems to be some screen tear with the kinetic scroll.
is it just because of the video? or is it like that? |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
The actual app is much smoother than the video and there is really not much noticeable tearing. Kinetic scroll is just as smooth as finger scrolling is in 1.4.
|
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Can you make the kinetic scrolling optional?
|
Re: ukmp 1.5 out

Of course I can, but why would I do that? |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Would it be tough to add support for foreign fonts??
|

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Crashes for me on an empty MP3 file. Message is below:
Invalid ID3 tag: Can't open /media/mmc1/mp3/xyz.mp3: [Errno 22] Invalid argument Removing /media/mmc1/mp3/xyz.mp3 since we could not identify it sufficiently Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/MediaCenter", line 2750, in <module> if __name__ == '__main__': main() File "/usr/bin/MediaCenter", line 2246, in main songprocessor.getIDTags() File "/usr/bin/MediaCenter", line 1848, in getIDTags self.saveTagList() File "/usr/bin/MediaCenter", line 1645, in saveTagList saveString=fileName+"##==##"+songlist[i] IndexError: list index out of range |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Sounds like an error trapping oversight.
Then again, why would you try to open an empty MP3? |

Hi Konttori,
Thank you for a great application!!! I appreciate the time and effort that you put into this program! |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
updated last night, still having the same problem. I can open the app, but as soon as I click on the download button or stream or whatever, it closes. boom.
|
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
I can't scroll... never could actually even on 1.4
What's wrong with me? I watched the video, tried scrolling with the thumb, the stylus... nothing works. :( I really want to use this player. |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Don't have much to contribute... but I just wanted to express my appreciation for konttori's hard work.

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Hi, konttori. Thanks for all of your work on ukmp (& uktube). It looks great. I just haven't been able to use it fully yet. Here's my situation. On one of my cards I have the directory structure [card]/Audio/oggs/ which is where I have my music files. In it are lots of ogg files and five mp3s. In album view, I have six albums listed: the five mp3s and "Nanny Oggs." The "Nanny Oggs album" contains all of my ogg files. Obviously, since I've never heard of Nanny Oggs, and my ogg music files are quite varied, this is not right. I tried changing the /Audio/oggs/ directory to /Audio/music/, but now the album cover is for the Fratellis. Is there something I can do or need to do to correct this problem so that I can see all of my music files as ukmp is intended? I would love to use ukmp :)
EDIT: I ran it from xterm just now to see if there were any options or if I could see any errors. After it processes my music files, it repeats: File does not exist:/media/mmc1/covers/UNKNOWN_UNKNOWN.jpg images disabled for maemo It repeats this many times (presumably as many times as I have ogg files). Nevermind, there aren't enough of these messages. It must be related to some other files (it's on the card w/out the audio files :o ). Also, just FYI, I noticed it tries to load modules for a cdrom and joystick. |

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
Hi Urho,
Kinetic scrolling indeed looks nice! One question though. When I come back to Albums list from a certain album by touching Albums button quickly, the list will appear on the screen scrolling. If i press the button more longer and release, the list will appear not scrolling. I guess this is intended behaviour? I usually listen a lot of mix albums, like livesets which tend to be quite long tracks...like 60mins or more. Is fast forward and rewind planned for future releases? Also some sort of an easy and quick screen lock might be nice. Anyways, thanks for the great application. Here everything seems to work smoothly! EDIT: Switching between audio/video modes seems to be quite hard with a finger. It almost always starts scrolling the list :) Maybe a bit bigger buttons for them? |

(empty) file with the extension .mp3 for some reason. |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
I checked updates, and needed to update Python. Did that, pulled up youtube, copied the link, pasted fine in UKTUBE but as soon as I click that button, the app shuts down. just like that.

Also, try pressing the dpad up and down. |

You can press and keep pressed the dpad right to fast forward and left for fast rewind. I'm considering of adding a new screen for the currently playing song view. You can press the back button to switch between video/audio modes. |

Hopefully you know what i mean. Anyways nice work! EDIT: I thought I had a dead pixel when looking at the upper right corner of ALBUMS button but it appears to be in the image itself. Just a minor thing :) |

UKTube doesn't show as a separate entry in my apps list. That link crashed, as well. |

Kontorri-
Great application that is getting better. Thanks, Fred |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
rcadden: sounds like your install is messed. Maybe you should uninstall and try re-installing. Also, try the latest ukmp install (it has uktube as well).
|
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
I'll try that and report back.
|
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
The scrolling is great, but the thumb navigation is an even better improvement. Now UKMP can handle "albums" with a large number of tracks. This effects some of the audio courses that I have on my N800.

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
This really exciting - I love the work you do on this. But this is a really silly newbie question, do I just download this new version and it updates the current version. Or do I have to un-install the current version, or delete it & then download the new version?

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
The program looks and works great. The only thing that would make it better in my opinion is some type of 'now playing' screen with an audio scrubber bar so that I could skip around in my podcasts.
Other than that, great job! |

I am thinking about making a nice play screen, I just haven't figured out how it will be accessible. Anyway, it will come relatively soon (and with it, will come bookmarking). |

I have more than 12 mp3's inside a folder... have more than 12 videos... and i still can't scroll... using the cursor and using the stylus :( Didn't work with 1.4 either. This the greatest app i have ever seen, but i would really like to see the scrolling and the kinetic movement  Using last version of ukmp and python. N770 OS 2006 V.3.2006.49-2. Anyone can help? Thanks |
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
I could never scroll beyond the screen to my other song files even on the older version. I found that really wierd....

Re: ukmp 1.5 out
You need to have more than 12 albums (and thus probably quite a bit more mp3s) to have the scrolling enabled.
|
Re: ukmp 1.5 out
I have 7 albums, and of course I don't expect to scroll there, but on one of the albums I have more than 20 mp3s. So I should be able to scroll there.
I've n800 with latest python and firmware. On UKMP 1.4 I couldn't scroll either and I deleted the program, because I thought that it wasn't possible. How do you determine when to enable scrolling? Maybe there's a bug when one has not many mp3s. |
