Saying that the maps on the N9 are five years old seems to be an overstatement.

Hi, Your comment is quite interesting. I had been going by the image of my house where I had an addition to my deck built about 5 years ago. Originally, I thought the addition wasn't present on the Nokia satellite image but upon closer inspection I'd have to say that the remodeled deck is probably indicated in the Nokia maps but for some reason the addition is too blurry to pick out with certainty. On the other hand the Google statellite image is a bit sharper here than Nokia's, so it was easy to pick it out. Now my neighbor actually had a deck built last year and that is clearly not in the Nokia image, so, my guess is that the Nokia satellite image of that area was made summer of 2010. The Google satellite image clearly shows the deck so its definately more recent (maybe later in the summer). Perhap different portions of maps are patched together at different times. Also, I'm not certain if google maps are always higher resolution than Nokia. Perhaps someone can comment on that. Anyways, I agree, saying they are 5 years old is an overstatement.
Also, I think that, visually, the Nokia maps are quite nice. I've mentioned this elsewhere but I really like the way the street names snake along the road as you move the map around. It's a nice design touch.
