I dont really know why but i m guessing that is has something to do with parser forum creatin:p u dont need accounts for forums you like to read. Thats optional.
please try the nitdroid parser and tell my if something dont work:)

IIRC in the dedicated thread here, he mentioned that may not be necessary eventually.

You could ask mods to create sub-forums, or just have dedicated threads for different topics.

TY.

Why should I (try!) to ask someone if I able to do it by myself?
Also I doubt it's good idea for "development" topics here, they simply would be flooded by off-topic posts.

Good point about development topics....

T'was just concerned about you (unintentionally) fragmenting the Maemo user-base.
For e.g. there'll be end-user testing of Iced Robot here eventually...
It'll be unfortunate if most users don't participate because they're distracted by your forum.
But it's still some way off, so I guess it's pointless worrying about it...

(Look at tags for topic). I just want to minimize the usage of _this_ badly moderated forum.
Splitting community? Heh, I really unsure it's my problem.

"Android blows" is not the opinion of everyone on this forum.
Go to any Android forum & you'll find far more people who are quick to say the same for Maemo.
This forum is well moderated in my experience, & I often hound the mods.

But it sounds like Maemo6x is of very little interest to you...
So I guess my argument isn't going to be persuasive. Your choice of course.
But naturally disappointing for users that will be supporting you, whom are also Maemo users.

Sniper_swe 2012-02-26 21:36

I dont see the harm in having a dedicated forum for the nitdroid part instead of having 3 threads about every issue and question here.;p

for instance I personally would NEVER put Android on the N9. Though I don't have it yet, I'm gonna exchange an Android for Harmattan soon and am looking forward to it very much.

Maybe it's not a big issue at all.
Lets see how it evolves....

Sniper_swe 2012-02-26 22:47

Maybe its just me but im following like 10 forums right now and i think its fun:) It keeps me occupied:)

jalyst 2012-02-26 22:51

Re: Nitdroid on Nokia n9 and donation thread.

I follow a lot of different forums too but we are the exception, not the norm.
Anyway that wasn't really my point, lets see how it goes, prolly no "biggy".

Hauzer 2012-02-26 23:13

Re: Nitdroid on Nokia n9 and donation thread.

I do understand jalyst's point though. Why drive all the 'traffic' of this forum onto another? This could be another means of advertising. Although you maybe following 10 forums at the moment, other user's most likely wont. :( They may only visit the NITDroid forum, and stop visiting this forum; where other events will occur, such as Iced Robot.

Of course, I still support the NITDroid team 100%. :)

Re: Nitdroid on Nokia n9 and donation thread.

By the way, just to keep everyone and this thread updated:

Quote:

What is working [on the N9 Android port]:
- dualboot kernel (without reflashing), ability to choose OS after power on.
- 3D drivers, OpenGL
- hwrotation (portrait mode only, accelerometer HAL doesn't work)
- touchscreen (multitouch)
- hw buttons (volume, power)
- USB networking
- lcd off in sleep mode
- alarm driver, RTC
- mounting MyDocs as "SDCard" (realized; NOT FIXED, but HACK EXISTS]
- basic video decoding (sw) and playback, youtube (choppy)
- basic CellMo functionality: network registration, USSD, SMS, data (GPRS/EDGE/3G), signaling. Actually, ofono/ofono-ril stack is used: all things that it able to do on the n900.
- bluetooth (scanning, can pair devices. I didn't test deeper).
http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?topic=67.0

Also e-yes has tested the Twitter app (a while ago) on the N9, and states everything is working perfectly: http://yfrog.com/oceunwrj :)

Hey e-yes or others working on n9 nitroid development,

I was wondering if it would be possible to get involved with the development. I am new to this particular phone hacking but feel I could pick it up quick. I am a hardware design engineer/ coder by trade and would like to help debug some of the non-critical features that are still not working.

Mike

Awesome, Mike! This is exactly the community spirit that has done so much for the N900 and the N9. If the N9 can access the Android market successfully with a dual-boot approach, we will have the best phone on the market. This is the dream.

'Last effort before alpha RELEASE: wi-fi or 3G. #nitdroid #n9'

i would prefer 3g data :)

Re: Nitdroid on Nokia n9 and donation thread.

3G worked before the 1.2 Harmattan upgrade so I think that will come first....and it would be more useful of course.
But either way would be cool and both will probably be added further on.

I'm saw it on the the forum but I'm somewhat slow I would have to see how it is done. Did you get it to work Sniper .

Sniper_swe 2012-03-17 23:47

Re: Nitdroid on Nokia n9 and donation thread.

Im not going to do it because my n9 is going in for sevice to get screen replaced. (3 months overdue:P)

To get an idea on how its done lawl138 you can watch this clip on how its done on the n900. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pdlwGAn6DU

Use the flasher recommened over at nitdroid forum and the kernel image and the line in the how to from that thread. If you feel insecure about how its done maybe you shouldnt, but its always fun to try some new things:)
