[Request]Call auto answer on N9

I am looking for a way to get my N9 to auto answer calls when I am using it with a BT headset. Unfortunately there is no such setting in Menu. That was the case with N900 as well, but thanks to the wonderful work of nicolai, auto answer feature was implemented in his ProfilesX app.
Does anyone know about a similar project for Harmattan? Or somebody willing to develop it? I think I am not the only one who will be interested.

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Hi, I think I could do that, maybe a daemon and some UI to start it, I'll write here when I have something that can be tested

@Iktwo
Thank you! We will help with testing.
This is great to have when skiing! ;-)

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Here's a .deb that you can try, the UI is simple, and I need to test what happen's when you get two calls, it should only take the first one, but you can test if this is what you had in mind..

YoContesto 0.0.2:
http://iktwo.wikidot.com/local--file....0.2_armel.deb

please test it and tell me what's wrong or what needs to be changed..

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Sorry for the delayed reply, but I was on a ski vacation in the Alps without internet connection.
Just tested the app - can not get it work. No auto answer was performed. Also I am not able to open settings via the button down left on the GUI.
What can I try?

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

The code is there.. I'm going to test it and let me reupload a new version, open settings? there's no settings tab yet, just the main tab with a simple toggle button, I'm working on it, and also adding a white and black list support..

zlatko 2012-01-24 06:36

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

@Iktwo
By "settings" I meant a bottom tab with cog wheel icon on it, which normally is used as "setting" icon in many Harmattan apps, so I decided that that is a "Settings" button that is not working for me. Otherwise I can toggle the the state with the main button(green/red, on/off), but there is no auto answer in neither state.
Just give mi a sign when new version uploaded and I will test again.
Thank you for your efforts!

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Sorry for the delay bro, I've tested this one many times, just open the app, set it to be activated and that's it, it will answer the calls, I'm working on the other features (blacklist,whitelist,block unknown..), as of now the phone does not ring, cause the call it's answered once it's received, I'll add a configurable timer in case you want it to ring some seconds before auto answer, please test the basic function and tell if it's working for you http://iktwo.wikidot.com/local--file....0.2_armel.deb

zlatko 2012-02-02 06:37

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

No problem with the delay! :-)
I just downloaded and installed new version, but unfortunately still no result.
Am I doing something wrong? I just open the application, press the red button, it turns green and then I call my phone. Phone keeps ringing without any difference from the normal behaviour. I have tried with app in foreground, background, phone locked or unlocked - no change.
Anyway - configurable timer will be great addition, please implement it.
Thank you for your time and effort you are putting into this! I want to ask other members with N9 to test and comment if it is working for them, because may be it is just my case and there is no need for you try fix something that is actually not an app's fault.

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

I found the problem, I was asking I current call wasn't active, but haven't set that in my code, now it should work, please test and tell me so I can start working on other features.. http://iktwo.wikidot.com/local--file....0.2_armel.deb

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

@Iktwo
Confirmed - working! ;-)
Answers the call without any time-out as you said. Good work! Keep the development - I sense it will be a must-have application for N9!

PS. I wonder about timing - I only use autoanswer when skiing with handsfree in my ear, so I needed this feature. Today I am leaving to the mountain on 3 day skiing vacation and your app come just at the right moment! ;-) Thanks again!

Great :D I'm happy it's working, I'll add those features I told you and of course a pretty icon..

Happy you found your bug! I write simple code myself occasionally and know how it is itching until you find what's wrong with it!
Keep us posted about any new developments!
Cheers! :D

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Today I field tested autoanswer when skiing, accepted like 10 calls without a problem. Sometimes phone rings twice before answering, which is perfect for me.

@Iktwo
No problem buddy! It works for me perfectly in this incarnation :)
I just want to see it developed as a finished app, with all the bells and whistles, so other users can benefit from it. Publish in OVI store and we can buy you a beer! :P

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Hi!
Nice app! Would be more, if there is some time between call entering and auto answer- at the moment I don't hear phone ringing, just suddenly somebody start to talk...:) And no need for those "beeps" during call- usually in our networks it means the other call is waiting...;)

Any news? Is this app still in your plans?

I'm so sorry buddy, I moved to a new country, got a new job, big changes in my life in few days, but I promise I'll finish this, now it's on my calendar so I won't forget. I'm really sorry, I just don't have enough time to do everything I want :(

@Iktwo
Great to hear this good news about you buddy! :)
Take care of all important things in your life. When you have free time - you can work on this if it is still interesting for you.
Wish you good luck with all your projects! :)

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Seems development here has stopped. Too bad...N9 needs this app to fill the hole in functionality.

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

I'm sorry again, here's the application in case you still want it

iktwo.com/callmee

There's no UI, it's integrated with system settings so you don't need that ugly icon in the menu.. please give me some feedback and features that you want and I will add that ASAP.

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

No problems buddy! :)
I will test and give feedback soon.
Actually I am not too much into other features, for me the only improvement needed will be having an toggle icon in launcher, setting Autonaswer On/Off with every press.

Thank you once again for spending your time on this project! :)

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

@Iktwo
Just tested - working OK. Missing feature is ability to set answer delay.
Also I think that a icon in app launcher toggling between On/Off states of the autoanswer feature will be very convenient.

Iktwo 2012-10-29 13:35

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

I will work on the delay, and on the shortcut also, what's wrong with going to settings -> applications -> callmee to enable and disable? I did it that way because a lot of people doesn't like having icons on the app launcher for apps like this.. but I can add it if you want

zlatko 2012-10-29 14:12

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

@Iktwo
There is nothing wrong in going to Settings. I think such an app place is exactly in Settings.
I don't know if I was able to explain my idea: I don't want an icon that start the application itself. I just want and icon that will serve as a toggle switching the On/Off states of the application. Similar to 2G/3G toggle. You just press it - it goes to ON. Press it again - goes to OFF. I think it is very convenient. To make this perfect you can add icon as a setting for the app. Like a small switch "Toggle in app launcher screen" that when set places icon in app launcher grid, when not set deletes it from there. But all that is just refinement :)
For my needs application works as it is currently, does the job. You can leave it without any further development. But if you think of getting it to OVI some refinement will be nice.
Many thanks for all the time and knowledge you put into this buddy!

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

I'll have to contribute to this, as this app would be huge help to me. I'm not able to use any buttons, and that's why N9 has been a dream phone to me.

I think zlatko is correct about the UI, but it definately needs an answer delay. Samsung TouchWiz had only 3 delay options (2 sec, 5 sec and 10 sec) and they were enough to me.

I'm eagerly waiting for your result!

zlatko 2013-01-16 12:24

Any development here? I am only missing answer delay to be added and it will be perfect! :)

Thank you for initiating the development of this App.

features required:
  • Call timer delay should be 15, 20, 30, 40 secs.
  • Ability to play a recorded message (MP3 / WAV) format.
  • Should have the ability to record the message from the caller.
  • A remainder and playback ability to be provided.

Hope this is possible and expecting to be developed accordingly.

Thanks in Advance.

Re: [Request]Call auto answer on N9

Is the delay working for anyone? I can get it to work with my N9. I tried reboot as well - still call is answered immediately, without even starting to ring.

EDIT: After reboot call answer delay is working on my N9! :)
