For nth time - for things like OS install, solid class 4 cards (Sandisk) are better than class 6 and 10, because they have faster random I/O, unlike higher classes, which have bulk I/O better, but suxx at random.

I am having pacman errors of 'unrecognized archive format' for the n900-base and n900-extra. Any clues as to cause and fix?

That's because the domain of the repository seems to have expired. Skry, are you still there, and will you bring the repo back up again sometime?

Sorry, that domain was user contributed. I'm not sure if/when I have time to get into this again.

Not sure those old packages in repo had anything worth saving, if you disagree let me know and we can take a look what can be done.

Anyway, one can install Arch Linux ARM normally and compile kernel from linux-n900 or if necessary, that old 3.5 from github.

Re: Arch Linux ARM on N900

Hi, I know this project is nigh-on unmaintained, but I'm curious about something. I've been running Arch on my n900 for a bit, and recently decided to test out the phone functionality (despite you saying it requires downgrading Pulse, but hey, I'm bored and fancy messing about).

Quote:

Modem initializing is done by systemd service n900_modem, which you need to either start and/or enable manually with systemctl.
OK, so I started this service, and it doesn't kick out any errors, but when I do systemctl status n900_modem, it tells me the file /usr/bin/n900_modem.sh doesn't exist, and I've had a quick peek in /usr/bin to check this. Is this file available online anywhere, or is this something I definately shouldn't be trying anymore? :D

I think the mirror that had all the packages went down some time ago. It's all somewhat outdated by now and I'm not sure if voice calling works with upstream kernel yet.

Anyway, I can probably put everything up somewhere. If nothing is changed, you need ofono and some sysfs magic to power the modem. For voice calls you can use the ancient pulseaudio with nokia blobs, or try version that are used in mer/nemo/whatever with their modules. It's a mess (or at least was) and I never got it to work that stable with newer pa.

Skry - I don't mind hosting your repo (though not maintaining it)
Can you PM me and I can mirror for a bit

Re: Arch Linux ARM on N900

FYI, Maemo chroot:
Code:

installing gcc
FATAL: kernel too old

UPDATE: downgrading gcc-libs and glibc helped:
Code:

pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/gcc-libs-4.8.2-7-armv7h.pkg.tar.xz
pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/glibc-2.18-12.1-armv7h.pkg.tar.xz

Added them to IgnorePkg in /etc/pacman.conf. What's the latest 4.8 and 2.18 versions do you have in cache?

UPDATE 2: We either need 3.7+ kernel or have to keep systemd<=216 because
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archive...er/024662.html (thanks to my friend for pointing this)
Code:

Userspace firmware loading support has been removed and
the minimum supported kernel version is thus bumped to 3.7

I have 215 only, anyone with 216 in cache?
