thanks sifo, but i don't use qtlockscreen at the moment. it's beautiful and functional but i need to maximize my battery, so my inquiry. :)

MaeMeeMo doesnt have any big impact on battery. I'm using KP51 @ 950 mhz + MMM (lockscreen+walls+qbw+theme..etc)+ tons of widgets and contacts and shortcuts+ 3hrs-5hrs wifi + 30mins call + 5 msgs my battery last 24 hours... :)

p.s Keep your N900 in a cool (preferably 25 degrees Celsius max) and open place away from direct heat and open apps for long. ;)

what I did :

1- enable portrait wallpaper by :
Code:

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/portrait_wallpaper -t bool true

(need to reboot after it)

2- clear desktop from any widget

3- install maemeemo from extras-devel

4- from Theme Customizer choose:
- Theme ----> MaeMeeMo
- Font ----> Nokia Pure Text
- Icon theme ----> harmattan-icons-pack-for-white-themes
- Snap-to-grid size ----> 14
- Widget opacity ----> 130
- Menu bar opacity ----> 0

5-Download wallpapers from :

change portrait wallpapers to LeafP1.png and LeafP2.png

6- rearrange widgets on desktops

7- add favorite apps shortcuts and place them on the dockbar

8- download transitions.ini from :

and place it in /usr/share/hildon-desktop/ (take backup from transitions.ini that exist)

9- enable MaeMeeMo 1.4 from QtLockscreen Configuration

Then reboot :)

everything is correct but you need to select Harmattan-icons-pack and NOT ~for-white-themes (because MMM is a black theme.. ;))

Hi,

I installed the newer Maemeemo, and I'm impressed! Well done!
But there are two things that should be improved.
1. I have no menu button in the top left corner, something only appears, when I click the corner (but it's still task switcher icon, not the menu's)
2. The lockscreen should have MeeGo look & feel, as for me, so: it should show what's behind the lockscreen, as with the MaeMeeMo lockscreen I don't really know whether I'm unlocking or not.

Thanks for your hard work!

Thanks mate,
1. The menu on top left is moved to bottom center in homescreens when any app is NOT opened, when you will open an app the menu button (task-navi-button) on top left WILL appear back to access task-navigation (still the button on homescreen at bottom center can be used to access app-menu), so you have two kinds of button... hope you find it useful now... Its (Task-navi+app-menu button) is not lost but its toggled differently.
2. The QT lockscreen MMM 1.4 theme is made to resemble MMM in general and nemo lockscreen is possible to make but we need some resources to make it.... you can ask @zifis to make one if you really needed that look. ;)
2.1 QtLockscreen app has restrictions to show the homescreen as background while its locked... ;) nevertheless to unlock you need to Press and Hold 70ms to unlock... :)

Hey Thanks for the instructions and info, I already new that before but using that method we cannot get the black status bar, so again there is a need for a custom wallpaper... :( but again only one step is needed to create wallpaper to add black status menu and an extra step(s) to add a new widget on all or one homescreen...;)

So custom wallpaper method is still more useful... :) anyway thanks again... :)

Edit: and its only for landscape i believe?

Do you need a .deb of it? but there's no need for it with current style... :) I thought (only) you wanted that maemo's task-navi+app-menu button back?

Its (that archieve) just for getting that menu button back if you want... or else its (MMM) perfectly fine without it...

I'll be able to do it without a deb, but this may be useful (maybe some other users will want it). If a user want the app menu back, he installs additional package.

Sure, I may do it provided you put the source on github/gitorious (I'm using the second one for my programs). Then I can easily clone, make the needed changes and make a merge request. But if you're not familiar with git, it may be easier for you to manually make a deb.

@everyone: what do you think about "meegotouch-theme-hildon". This may be a nice thing - a MeeGo-like theme with MeeGo design, but Hildon UI.

It's just a concept: use the meegotouchtheme (symlinks) to provide MeeGo look & feel. I was interested what other people think about it

I used MaeMeeMo theme V2.0 with transition, after reboot my beloved N900 crashed! Hildon-desktop not responded and nothing worked!

Doesn't matter, I had a backup ;)

The question is, the problem just because of transition or the whole MaeMeeMo theme!

Can you test the theme without transitions file... becoz for some reason my backupmenu-backup is not working to create a full system backup... :( ...

Btw Thanks for reporting...

Edit: How did you use the theme file... it needs to be packed into .deb first... or did you try theme-customizer?

Possible solution:
Try setting font as Nokia Pure when you select the theme in theme customizer before applying and rebooting. :)

p.s. I checked everything and cant find hildon-desktop crashing... I even tried "killall hildon-desktop" to check the problem.

Dear Melisa queen, since im packaging the new release, i have tested everything myself on my device and the only thing i found is a little bug in Notes app ( 2 things are not visible )

@TransTech

The problem is caused by the transition!
I tested the manual and the deb package, both of them are working fine.
The problem is just the miss gesturing some icons in the status menu, e. g. Conky layout switcher.

Ok I will look into it... thanks...

btw did you try changing font while using the maemeemo-theme-with transitions file? or only the transitions file? Because I don't find the problem using the transitions file without the theme....

I only used the maemeemo-theme without transition and I got the desired result :)

So I concluded that the problem is just because of the transition file!

@TransTech - Thanks so much for finally a great theme. Beautiful colors + icons + font setups

Installed V2 from the above link. Having these issues :

1. The background doesn't change to portrait mode when i turn the phone.

2. I understand there are multiple wallpapers but haven't found a way to switch between them. Do we have a GUI based option here ?

3. qtlockscreen config utility has set the lockscreen to an image other than the current background. Also i see just the "DEFAULT" setting in the lockscreen config utility.

Hope you could help me with this

Thanks :)

Sorry i forgot to remove qtlockscreen from the dependencies because the new build doesn't contain any qtlockscreen,
and the wallpapers can be found in /opt/maemeemo/wallpepers

I just installed and applied this theme. It looks awesome, however, I have one problem -- there is no "start button" (top left) on the default screen (on all of them, actually; the button appears briefly when I tap the upper left portion, though). As a matter of fact, the whole upper bar seems to be missing. Is there any setting/tweak I should change? The device has been rebooted twice already, as well as turned off, and on again.

Also, folder icons in file explorer are very dark compared to the (black) surroundings.
