what about toodleTasks ?
I use it on my HP Touchpad and it's really great.
If you like to see more, just visit www.prodisoft.ch

PIM sync tool like syncevolution is my first solution, but unfortunately I can't sync tasks and notes with my N9. Sync of contacts and calendar works fine with funambol (now also called onemediahub).

Currently missing: Harmattan

Honestly, I really am right now ;)

When my n9 is working, I do miss Swirl-to-Zoom from microB.
I know it's not technically an app but two finger pinch zoom is so 2007 ;)

* FEATURE - I miss the left and right arrows on the keyboard, as in Symbian.
** Extremely handy to correct typo's not picked up by auto-correct (numbers, other languages, etc)

* FEATURE - I miss the ability to copy / paste full appointments in my agenda.
** Extremely handy for entering e.g. doctor, dentist, physio, sport appointments made on the spot, at a counter, etc., instead of having to type the whole thing again. Used to be in e.g. PPC, UIQ, and in S80.

Hi

I'm missing using my n9 as a remote touchpad/keyboard via bluetooth. There are some solutions in the ovi store but they all require server software to be installed (and most seem to only provide it for windows).

For maemo we had bluemaemo, so maybe someone could start from there.

a funambol resp. onemediahub sync tool like funambol for symbian would be great to sync all relevant PIM data like calendar, contacts, tasks and notes.

I know of someone who has Abi Word running on their N9. I asked them to put it up on the Nokia store but they refused because they didn't understand the Nokia store agreement and so therefore didn't want to agree to something they didn't understand (I think that is a fair call).

Re: What apps are you missing for the Nokia N9?

It would also be a fair call to ask what is the part they don't understand, in order to clarify. Without that is difficult to help. :)

ScummVM has already been ported: http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic....ghlight=#72379. It's not in the store however.

I asked him last night and this is what he said.

Quote:

You agree that Nokia may increase the percentage of Net Revenue payable to You for either operator or credit card billing without having to amend this Agreement. For purchases made via operator billing, You acknowledge and agree, that payment and bad debt information received from operator billing arrangements may be based on aggregate amounts and not itemized, and that if Nokia is unable to determine the exact amount directly attributable to all Content, then Nokia may allocate and apportion such revenues or bad debt according to an equitable prorated method across Content sold through a particular operator.

I'd love to sign up for equitable prorated bad debt to distribute a free $0 app.

qgil 2012-05-27 04:49

Re: What apps are you missing for the Nokia N9?

Any % of 0 = 0, right?

Free of charge apps (like I guess is the case of Abiword) shouldn't worry about this.

Anyway, is there a place to download and test that package? What about http://apps.formeego.org ? I'm sure your friends will find a bunch of users / testers here. Thanks for sharing!

It says "... Content SOLD through a particular operator." This clearly excludes free apps. In any case it is quite impossible for Nokia to claim any money from developers of free apps as no revenue money is in their hands.

The problem is that few Maemo5 developers want to port their apps to N9. But whenever there is a new N9 app not available on Maemo5, N900 users will be the first to ask for it. In the majority if cases they are obliged. But ask a Maemo5 developer to port his new app to N9 and only in the rarest of cases it will be obliged. This is why N9 users still don't have any MS Office editors. N900 users have got a lot from the launch of N9 but N9 users have got almost nothing but hostility from N900 developers who refuse to even port their existing apps over.

I believe this has everything to do with the fact that Nokia did not provide enough resources to entice developers to jump onto the n9 bandwagon (limited market release/ burning platform). Also, because of the larger number of n900 handsets in use compared to the n9, the incentive to backport is worthwhile.I think patience is key here. It took almost 2 years for the apps on the n900 to get really interesting

Wrong thoughts.

The answer is simple : MeeGo Harmattan uses Qt Quick (QML) for GUI (Graphical User Interface) on top of Qt, instead of QWidgets UI used in Maemo 4 & 5. So the majority of Maemo softwares need huge UI rewriting to Qt Quick/QML.

Re: What apps are you missing for the Nokia N9?

N900 apps are usually written with Gtk+, Hildon, or Hildonified Qt Widgets.
All this does not exist on the N9, so porting an app from N9 to N900 is often a lot easier than vice versa.

Thank you for pointing this out. It explains partly why few N900 apps have been ported to N9 but the the other part is still lack of developer interest to do so. Many Maemo5 developers have actually left the platform due to impotent rage with Nokia over the termination of Maemo5 and remain hostile to N9 as a bastardized child of Maemo and Moblin.

However the fact remains that the N900 has enjoyed a new lease of life with the coming of N9 with more apps and renewed community interest by association.

That may have something to do with it. And there's nothing wrong with it. N900 is obviously in many ways much less restricted than N9. This can put off many developers. And since we're talking about hobby developers doing the stuff for free, why would they use significant amount of time in porting to a platform that they are not excited about?

But I think the biggest practical reason is this: Many N9/N950 developers do not have N900, and many N900 developers do not have N9/N950. It's quite futile to try porting an application if you can't during development test that it works as intended.

Apps privileges UI (maybe in the original applications manager details of an app to make it easier if it's possible) http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82564

These are things I'm really missing and would appreciate it if someone had time to make them.

i find f.lux very useful. it is available on mac, linux, windows and ios if jailbreaked.

of course it doens't need to be f.lux itself. maybe this could be included in the color profile settings we got with pr1.2?
