got 1.35 Ghz too - seems that this is top value that n9 can get, except few lucky people with 1.4Ghz.

no, didn't change anything but freq, voltage boosts automaticly.

Hello all, Did again some benchmarking and this time with browser speeds. Methods were similar than with app launch. Three different shots on each page with both clockspeeds an average of them.

Phone was connected to wifi whole time without any other network action. I have very slow (2Mb) wifi connection right now if you wonder my download times. I downloaded full desktop sites on both browsers and thats why I didnīt benchmark stock browser.

Result seems to be quite similar to app launch test. +300mhz will give you about 10-20% speedboost depending conditions.

Strange thing was that talk.maemo.org download time on Opera actually get worse after OC. I dont know whats going on, maybe something to do with my wifi...but it was very odd indeed...

Mine seems to be stable at 1.3Ghz and 1250000 (SR on) :) Much lower than default oc voltage, quite happy about. But totally unstable at 1.4 and 1375000 (SR on).

That's pretty good. What is your voltage at stock clocks? In theory that should also correlate with how good the particular chip is if SmartReflex does what it's supposed to.

It was 1175000 if i'm not mistaken.
Now I pushed it up at 1270000, it had a small tendancy to reeboot seldomly...

Just upped my N9 straight to 1.35 Ghz :P

A noticeable performance improvement in a few apps ( Settings is much faster, twitter app is quicker). I got a score of 2766.8 on Sun spider , a big improvement ! Will keep you guys updated.

Sure, but not in the first version.

Yes, of course!

Btw, it looks even better than in those screenshots, and it includes a cpu-intensive benchmark to help validate the settings. itsnotabigtruck made an installer to install the modules on each reboot, I tried to do it myself but couldn't get mine to work and asked him for help about 300 times so he just did it himself lol. Only thing missing is ability to apply the clocks on reboot also.

Hi, I'm new here and I'm a total noob at this overclocking stuff. I read the inception instructions from that site. With no luck, I don't understand anything at all at the "Harnessing INCEPTION" section. If anyone could make it clear to me, please help. I'd really appreciate that :)

- to install Inception, opensh and aegisctl, see the Inception web page and copy the 3 .deb files to some directory and type :
$ devel-su
and type the password (rootme is the default one), go to same directory;
# dpkg -i inception_0.1_armel.deb
# pasiv
confirming with yes;
# incept opensh_1.00_armel.deb
and type the password (rootme is the default one);
# incept aegisctl_1.2_armel.deb
and type the password (rootme is the default one).

I got this error :
Aegis rejecting inception_0.1_armel.deb: Could not open debian archive
aegis is aborting dpkg -- all listed package files rejected
Compilation failed in require

I got that after inserting :
~ # dpkg -i inception_0.1_armel.deb

Re: overclocking kernel modules for PR1.2

Hmm have you got the new version inception_0.1.1_armel.deb? You'll need that version instead of 0.1 if your phones fully updated on PR1.2, though if you have the latest version, and judging by the error message you probably do, using the wrong filename is the problem.
You need to type "dpkg -i inception_0.1.1_armel.deb" instead of "dpkg -i inception_0.1_armel.deb", the version changed since those posts.
Also I recommend once you've typed "dpkg -i in", hit the tab key and it'll auto complete the file name.

Re: overclocking kernel modules for PR1.2 [v1.4]

I know this is probably a noob question, but I can't seem to install opensh :(

I installed inception, installed the wget utility, and then have tried to install opensh multiple times but get the following error:

Error: certificate common name 'www.endno.de' doesn't match requested host name 'endo.de'. To connect to 'endno.de' insecurely, use '--no-check-certificate'
Unable to establish SSL connection

This is what i've been typing in to terminal:
wget -O opensh_1.00_armel.deb https://endno.de/~itsnotabigtruck/in...1.00_armel.deb

I have also tried putting http:// rather than https:// and that comes up with the same error :/

There's a link on the inception website with a direct link to the file, its down the bottom of the page.....
or click here https://endno.de/~itsnotabigtruck/in...1.00_armel.deb

But that's the link i've been using.... Have i been typing the correct thing in to terminal?

Or do you mean i just download that directly on to my phone and install it like a normal file?

Did you invoke pasiv?

with opensh you need to download the .deb and drop it in your MyDocs folder.

Assuming that is done

devel-su
rootme
cd /home/user/MyDocs/
/usr/sbin/incept opensh...deb
rootme

it'll install.

There's a bit that says he has inside knowledge not to overclock past 1.2ghz... Yet supposedly other phones using that OMAP processor have gone higher with no problems. Can anyone confirm that going over 1.2ghz is not good?

Then could you please lend me a helping hand. I've installed inception_0.1.1_armel.deb, aegisctl_1.2_armel.deb and opensh_1.00_armel.deb. But the problem is that I can't seem to incept them all. I'm at my wit's end. And there'd be no UI if I overclocked the N9? This is my first time doing this. Need some guide lol :p

All you have to do is the following:

Install inception (which you've done)

Go to terminal. Type:

devel-su -c /usr/sbin/pasiv

Go to the inception site in your web browser on your n9 and download the opensh file and aegiscti file

Incept them by typing the following in to terminal:

devel-su
rootme (that's your default password)
cd /home/user/MyDocs/
/usr/sbin/incept opensh_1.00_arml.deb
rootme

then

devel-su
rootme
cd /home/user/MyDocs/
/usr/sbin/incept aegisctl_1.2_armel.deb
rootme

and voila! both of those files are incepted. Just wait until the Opptimizer program is released, then you'll be able to overclock easily :)

Not sure then what you're doing wrong, i think before you incept you have to install the files like you would a normal application, and then incept

Until it's stood the test of time it's pretty hard to confirm that you wont do damage to your cpu, hell even at 1.05 you should probably expect the cpu's life to be slightly reduced compared to stock frequency, but realistically how do you confirm that until a few years down the track, even then it would be pretty hard to prove conclusively.

It's hard to go exactly off other phones results as the conditions the cpu lives with aren't necessarily the same, they should obviously be a good guide though.

I haven't noticed anyone else report this so far, well besides something rainisto said way earlier that may be taken similarly, but on my N9, at 1.2ghz I find it stable with or without smart reflex, well that's normal but bump it up to even 1.225 and I eventually get a reboot even if it's not for a day or two, I'm yet to spend any time playing with the voltages mind you.
