Are you sure uninstalling fastern9 solves your GPS issue?

Or maye you have some other tweak/mod that is affecting the GPS?

I also have fasterN9. Seems it's the opposite for me. When outside, all it takes is 3s to lock, much faster than before.

No, I dont think that this problem is because of fastern9. I just hope in ppl here. Wich could know something about this problem. I tried to solve this by n9QTweak, I hope that fastern9 could solve this, but it doesnt work. So, I'm asking here if anybody doesnt know this problem.

It's same like a battery issue. When my battery is below 30% (mostly when its 23-26%), when I'm using phone (internet browsing,maps,..) it falls down to 4%. After reboot it's back on 20-22%. (but it's not because of fastern9)

So... newest "unstable" version performs faster than the stable one?

IMO, yes...

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Thanks for your work traysh. I decided to try fastern9 and chose the stable one. After installing I get two application .desktop entries, which cannot be removed because "application doesn't exist". Cannot get rid of them using purge to remove fastern9.

Also when I boot up phone is on Safe mode.

What is wrong?

thedead1440 2012-10-01 14:26

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Phone on Safe Mode means a system-ui fault not fastern9...

Try deleting the entries from /usr/share/applications/

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

The only problem that I found with the version 1.1.0 is that when the GPS is in fuction...the screen after a while is turned off...Without tha Faster N9 I don't have that issue.

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Well..Now my phone is semi-multitasking device. Noticeable when listening streams and browsing webpages, music skips. Not so surprisingly FM-radio works without skipping. On the bright side responsiveness is now on level that I excepted from day 1 from smartphone!

So to my usage case it seems that I might keep this app. Lets see what happens after 4-5 days uptime..currently my device tends to slow down mostly because of open webpages on background.

If we could get user configurable (no thanks to CLI, yes its possible from there :D) priority settings in order to give more cpu time to apps that possibly need it. And if possible then naturally option to give more cpu time to audio-system modules would be also good option to have.

ps.
What net-radio app might take less system resources than this:

Maybe this has been convered before, but does this not work with HSS or create any issues with HSS? Or can I just refrain from certain tweaks that would interfere with HSS? Any info would be apprectiated :)

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Just re-posting from the Wazapp thread. May be useful here.

Quote:

One observation: I have latest Cepi build installed ie 21092012. I have been monitoring the power consumption trends . Meanwhile I also installed "FasterN9" deb just to try it.

Wazapp when launched for the first time, does some CPU activity at startup , which is expected and then the process goes to sleep or something like that, it does not show up in "top" . Now, on receiving a message, the process wakes up and constantly stays at 1.5-2.5% CPU usage, thus never sleeping , even after I am done sending-receiving. This seems to have affected battery life a lot.

Now, with fastern9, same happens as above, except that along with wazapp process, the pulseaudio process too stays woken up with 5-6% CPU usage and goes normal down only when I quit Wazapp. With fastern9 installed, I noticed average idle current of 30mA on wifi!!

I have since removed fastern9 , and idle current is back down to 20mA on wifi, which is still more then previous builds.

I cannot go back to previous builds because this is the build which is very stable even with 10+ chats.

@Cepi, its just a guess, but I think this bug was introduced with the new chat sound message scheme, as with fastern9, it seems to drag pulseaudio down too.

Download link is in first post or click here

Just install it over v0.9.7...You don't need to uninstall v0.9.7 first...Either click it after download for installation or use terminal to install...

I discover another bug. When I make a reboot it doesn't has any problem, but when I turn off my phone, and reopen it again, when the phone show me the keyboard to enter the pin code...it entered in a reboot loop. The reboot lopp stopped when I take out the sim card....

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

i dont know if it is a bug or no, but using unstable version when the alarm must sound, the n9 tell me REMINDER SERVICE NOT RESPONDING or something like that.

thanks amazing job

So, it turns out my first post (I've been lurking for a while) is going to be a thanks. I put in a small donation a while back, but seriously, this is great. The worst of the lag is gone, and my phone feels way faster, so cheers!

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Had to uninstall stable version.Alarm bug emerged this morning, screen went black and had to reboot device. Also I have had weird problems with fm-radio app and finnish location app tässä.Longish stsrtup times and heafphones related audio problems. Also it feels like data connection is now bit flaky.Sorry for not giving detailed report, simply i do not have enough time to investigate issues :(

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Trying latest unstable version;

More or less ok, defintly smoother and better; however, still significant lags when receiving a call or when calendar reminder pops up....

Artyom 2012-10-05 07:56

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

So it still needs a little more work to be "stable". Right?

Kozzi 2012-10-05 09:48

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

I think due to the new processing prioritization some audio apps like Pianorama, Internet Radio, etc. will lag when you have them in background while browsing (Opera, Web).

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Hi,

I had a few issues after installing stable version :
1. Camera is Laggy
2. Reboot app doesnt work anymore

I have installed Wazzap and FDB 7.5 theme pack.

Most of the other apps installed are working.

Great work though...makes the fone less laggy overall.:D

Use reboot from N9QTweak Tweak T-3 as part of system widgets...

The reboot app even without fastern9 has always been buggy for me...

Hey guys, a question.

- After opening tweetian I can't open it again if I close it. It won't open again till a reboot.
- Every time I open the built in twitter app it lags and says "twitter not responding" twice and then works just fine

using 1.0.0 Stable

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

switch to unstable mariusmssj :p you can handle it :D

I'm on unstable and don't have those issues...Shame I'm not on stable otherwise would be able to report about your findings...

OK i'll bite the bullet and try it xD I don't don't need to uninstall the 1.0.0 so install the 1.1.0?

thedead1440 2012-10-05 16:45

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Yup just install over it...

If you don't like it just uninstall and install the stable...I tried it a few days ago just to see if any consequences but nothing untoward found and switched back to unstable :D

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

i had time to investigate on the spotify - sportstracker bug. i tried it with 0.9.11 and qspot (since it is the only spotify client that is still getting updates) and i had no problems, the music and tracking worked fine.
next time i'll try it with the current unstable (which is working great so far!) and report back.
so if you use your n9 for sports, there is a (temporary) solution!

Is there any way that this app might cause problems with status menu extension?

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

I just wanted to say thank you for this great mod! After installing it and increasing the CPU clock slightly to 1.1ghz my N9 is like a new phone!! Hitting the Refresh button on the feed screen followed by some serious swiping doesn't lead to any kind of lag anymore, amazing!!

Nothing that is known about... I use Tweak T-3 from N9QT which contains some similar widgets like status menu extensions and I've had 0 issues...

I will try that for the reboot. However reboot worked perfectly for me before installing fastern9.

How about the laggy camera? It lags after each pic i take and then becomes fine after sometime. I think i have geo-tagging on for the camera. Can that be an issue ?

thedead1440 2012-10-06 02:52

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

yup it could be the geo-tagging...

if you require it maybe compare it without fastern9 and post here if its really slow... Maybe traysh can take care of it in the next release...

Ok its not geo tagging. I tried by turning it off and then taking a couple of pictures still lags. However, If you disable the option to "show captured content" then the lag appears. Once you change the setting to "2 Seconds" or "5 seconds" there no longer a lag even with geo tagging enabled.

Edit : Ok, i was wrong, there is still a lag when the camera is displaying the picture irrespective of geo tagging being on or off. But with geo tagging off the lag is lesser hmmm....

efion 2012-10-06 04:28

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

What do you mean by the camera lag after taking a picture, maybe its image processing?

Mine was about half a second "lag" to process the image had taken, and showing the right and clear image after that

MK99 2012-10-06 07:53

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

I have to tell you that, I use v1.0.0.
I think everything works better than before, and I have not noticed any problem.

Thank you very much! :D

thanx mate! really smooth, hope no tracking issue :D

patlak 2012-10-07 13:12

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Some correction needs to be done. Notifications use a lot of the cpu and cause lag when trying to do something else. Otherwise quite smooth.

imaginaryenemy 2012-10-07 15:31

Thought I'd give 1.1.0 a try since i was so happy with 1.0.0. For me, my feeds started to 'stutter' again. Once i scrolled through them once, it was great, but the first time after each update was not. Went back to 1.0.0 and it was great again.
Don't know if it is an individual finding or something everyone is experiencing.
FYI, i just have twitter and facebook on my feeds, and it updates every hour.

Hello guys,

I have installed the N9tweak. and I like it.
But is not as fast as I thougth.

This FASTERN9 its better than the N9tweak?

Because I will like to flash my N9, and then install this...
Opinions?
