Schturman,
Thank you for the info. I called to the phone, N9 and it went crazy. No sounds, jams and strange information panels...
Back to 1.1.1.

Ok, I could reproduce it, so removed from the first post...

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Sorry about the 1.1.2 version, I made a foolish mistake in it.

So, version 1.1.3 corrected this mistake (so instability is gone) and also corrected the lagginess in Spotify when playing in the background. Now waiting for your feedback.

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Hi traysh,I installed the 1.1.3 version in my phone but something weird happens, when I first boot in the device and open coderous system ui the sim icon seems to suddenly appear even though I am using the Remove Sim Shortcut App,then for some minutes the phones lags a little and it's not as responsive as it was. When the icon dissappears the device becomes responsive and fast again.

Thank you very much traysh for your awesome work keep up,I will continue testing.:)

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

smiler,

I haven't tested fastern9 v1.1.3 yet but from what I know is when your phone boots you should wait around 1-2 mins before opening the status bar if unrestricted sys-ui is installed; on my regular phone also the unres sys-ui lags the phone for around a minute if I try opening it just after a reboot...

Due to the unres sys-ui lagging things up, other daemons like the remove sim etc are delayed too...

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

Well I with stable version I didn't have this problem I tried waiting a little but it's the same.

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

A quick test with 1.1.3 and looks like that all works.
Thanks!

My N9 lasts for 3 days in general with moderate usage. But this comes at some cost:
- I have only one daemon running in the background (battery usage).
- I have nothing that updates in the background (mail, feeds etc.) - only manual update.
- My WiFi is only working on demand (N9 never ever connects to internet by itself).
- PSM is always turned on.
- Desktop background is default one (blackness).
- Standby Screen is turned off.
- Dark theme for all applications that support it.

Moderate usage includes some internet surfing, music listening, youtube watching. If I use N9 ONLY for calls and SMS - it can even last for 5 days!

Sorry Traysh, but stutter in spotify hasn't disappear with 1.1.3. :(

When you open messaging bulk app or look for apps in Nokia Store stutter is coming back. I'll be back ! ;)

imaginaryenemy 2012-11-25 20:56

Installed 1.1.3 last night, and it's amazing! Everything seems super smooth (including last.fm and cutetube). Best yet!

Is it at least any better than the previous version you had? And what about without FasterN9, is the lag gone?

The above 2 mods and faster n9 are all mutually exclusive so go ahead and use all 3 of them...

Performance gains/losses are totally use-case dependent so can't be generalised...

@traysh hi there, first of all thanks for your great mod, it works like a charm for me... I would like to ask you if you know this bug http://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1144 which provides the battery level to jump randomly to 4%, expecially when the cpu charge is heavy. Is there a way to fix this with fastern9 maybe? Thx keep up the good work :)

Is that not because of the unrestricted-system-ui rather than FasterN9?

I had the same problem (with 1.0.0)... The battery level went down rapidly to 3%... Few minutes later everything was normal and it went to 31% and after this I had an call for 15 min and I was using Wazapp and the Internet (after this ca. 27-29%)!

Re: [Stable!] FasterN9

I've tried unstable version up to 1.1.3 and stable 1.0.1. In my option unstable version 1.1.0 is the best in the overall performance for my device.

Not a fastern9 issue but a harmattan bug...The poster who you quoted is asking if fastern9 can do anything to help control this...

I won't disagree, but 1.1.0 was just not stable enough, some applications had strange behavior

1.0.1 is the latest STABLE version

1.1.3 is the latest UNSTABLE version

Luckily I don't have strange behavior up to this moment. Perhaps I didn't tweak too much for my device. And I don't have system-ui other than the default one.

But version 1.0.0 stable is bad and 1.1.0 unstable is soo good.. so? which ones are good? is that 1.0.1 good? or is unstable again better :)

In my option It's no absolute right answer. You gonna try yourself and find it out. I've seen many reporting strange behavior with whichever version but luckily I didn't experience those and I've found unstable version 1.1.0 goes best with my device.

The STABLE versions are less likely to cause you data loss and instability, that's the criteria. The UNSTABLE versions are a lot more experimental and will probably increase more the performance, but are more likely to cause trouble, sometimes even requiring a reflash.

Features in UNSTABLE versions will probably be ported to the STABLE versions after this community test them and conclude they are safe.

Honestly, it's better than the previous versions for spotify (online mode) but not perfect. The stuttering occurs far less often but is always here where you scroll in large list of items for example.

Without fastern9 no lags in spotify, i'm very sure of this.

I confirm : without Fastern9 (stable or not) no safe mode at reboot in unrestricted-system-ui from MAG, with faster n9 safe mode each reboot.
