Thank you, finally somebody understands. I can handle the terminal and don't mind flashing my phone. Most people do.

Can't promised not to talk about them with anyone.

They are pretty quick. The longest time it took a message for me while online was all of 3 seconds. It's faster than text.

Isn't the source code going to be released? If it's released now we can probably fix all the bugs in a week.

If the source code isn't going to be released, I may as well start a Whatsapp port from scratch right now.

Also releasing the source code will allow WhatsApp themselves the ability to see how the app works and block it.. (If they are bothered)

Doubtfull, the cost is some ridiculously tiny fee for the year, and WhatsApp has been out for longer then a year, people are still using it as the fee is tiny.

Its $1.99 for 2 years subscription... Not exact gonna break the change section of your wallet.. Its the price of a burger lol

I hacked the qxmpp to be able to communicate to wa servers... It is working really good, almost most of the wa packets are like regular xmpp ones, someones with extensions, and others are new... Basically WA binarizes the xml packets before send/Receive. If he is not going to release the code or the app, maybe i will release it, but I am a little bit scared about the legal issues of reversing etc.

ps. I find it hard to see how im 'spamming' and where are these apparent useless posts? Coz so far I have been giving information that people want to know, such as the subscription fee ect.

you would not even have to release the source code for them to figure out if you are using an n9 - you are.giving them your imei, which they can run in any public database (or use an automatic script) and just bar all imeis that come up as Nokia n9's if they really wanted...

releasing the source would make development quicker but that is up to the original author at the end of the day!

The java port of whatsapp let you write your IMEI, and could be fake. This could be a solution to avoid problems. I'm not sure, but I think that the IMEI is just used to generate by md5 the password for logging.

As malkavian said before me, the IMEI can be falsified and WhatsApp will still work.

Don't need to use a real one :P

Also do you honestly think WhatsApp are going to go through all the IMEI's for every N9 and block them?

I personally don't think they will bother blocking this app, I think the only reason they didn't give us an official solution is that it required them to spend money and they didn't want to spend money on a platform that is considered 'dead'

I'm a bit of a newcomer here on maemo.org so I just Introduce myself fast!

I'm 21years old geekish fellow from Finland and I love to play around with Electronics, mostly something like disassembly -> repair -> assemble. I don't have a mind of a Linus, but I totally love to play with the open source stuff.

I don't know much of any coding or scripting, but I really could try to help you out with this. I'm ex-engineer student from ICT, so I still got some magic in my hands!

I could for example, be a "lower-developer" by just finding bugs and stuff. I own the N900 AND N9 64Gb by the way.

Your ending has been explained so many times. As for your subscription fee, if you haven't noticed, these viewers are current or ex whatsapp users, and to make it clear, nobody asked for the subscription fee.

Webos programs arent compatible, just the games because they dont run on the webos api itself

read the webos threads and you will figure it out. Or do you think if it was that simple no one would have tried it?

The only thing similar to that is running the S40 java whatsapp and you already have that.

every platform can maike aplication... i am just telling web os becuzz i am thinking that if 48 up games are runing by 1 aplication that is big ...

if we will try on that plat form may be lot of aplication we can use ..

i am nt telling that wich platform is good i am just advice if we will select right platform it will good in futcher .. all aplication may be will run bye one manager ...

Does Wazzap store the messages in a database? How is it done?

A new Whatsapp's security hole (Spanish): Whatsapp encrypts the messages database always and for all users with the same key.

No it doesn't store messages as far as I am aware, I only have a record of so many of my messages per convo.

About 30 days stored on the phone, if you want to scroll back to older messages you need to be online. Encountered that once on an iPhone. So it definitely stores some messages, don't know what the max is from looking back...

The only reason the games work is because they use SDL which is also used by the N900.

The apps are another story, and definitely not something that will be an easy port. What you are saying it to build a WebOS emulator which would not be easy in any way, emulation never is.

The games manager just uses the same SDL 1.2 environment but I think it tricks it into thinking it is being run on a WebOS device, which is fine as the N900 supports SDL1.2.

Im pretty sure he is using Python to make this or PyQT which I think is easily portable, apart from any resolution differences and other small things.

Probably best if he doesn't give an estimation, after what happened last time when a deadline was given. Even if its an estimate, people will complain and moan if its not ready by the estimate.
