[Announce] Echidna Messenger
 

Hi there,

I have written a small Messenger Application for my N9.

It's written in pure Qt/QML so ist portable to Symbian without problems.
As protocol I use XMPP (I use QXmpp as library)

Here are the features:

- Chat with one person
- Send and receive pictures
- Buddies linked with the address book (automatic search)
- Delivery confirmation
- N9: Event notification on new message

I have written the application in just 6 days, so maybe there are some bugs :-D

At the moment it's not possible to auto-register an account.
So who likes to test my messenger app please send me a PM with your mobile-phone number (is used as username :-) and I will create the account and send the username and password.

i would like but i have an N900:D is it possible to compile one for the N900 ?

yes the n900 does. for ex cutrtube qml

there are many application in the repositories written in QML and working fine unless the one you made is too heavy ?

if you want to do that you need to recompile your program depending on other libraries that N900 support
ex : N900 does not support libstdc++6

a question does it eat a lot if we want to use it with gprs ?

You can chat with other users who use this app.
BUT, it's based on xmpp, so theoretically with all xmpp-accounts.

I created a package for the n900 but I can't test if it works.

Echidna needs QtQuick and qt-components (Harmattan)

I had some trouble to install this 2 packages in the emulator, so I couldn't test the package.

i tried the N900 one. installed but when clicking on it the only thing i can see is black screen !
+ it is only locked to portaite mode but this is not a problem ;)
and much appreciated man keep working on it looks promissing :)

do you receive a message when you start the application from the terminal?

i think you must install qtquick from extras-devel repository

I updated Echidna to 0.5.4 with some new features:

- delivery notification
- Meego: Event notification on new msg

when i dpkg it terminal didnt give me any error or missing dependency message but i'll install qtquik and test it .

i installed the app and when i go to contacts an push the refresh icon the application stops respoding then crashes and exits...

Edit: i have around 1200 contacts in my contact list..

Now all my contacts are chowing in the chat list this can't be right can you please show us te way to use this app...

Hi adrenaline,

the app must check every contact and number...this need time.
with 1200 contacts I sincerely don't know how much time this need :)

as I explained this is just a first version...I need some time to fix everything.

If you it shows all contacts then try to sync again and let me know.

i did as you asked and it still shows all contacts i tried uninstalling re-installing and it is still the same...

yes and still the same all my contacts are showing ...

Edit: it works now after another sync but have no one to chat with :s lol
