I also customized and fixed some issues in 0.2.5 but I'm not sure if I should share since we are forking in so many directions already. I always keep to the official one.
I've fixed the landscape send new message issue, reverted the arrow in Conversation, reverted back to unified Softbank emoji, added a button to open an emoji dialog plus some small fixes...
Do you want it or should I keep it for myself?

P.S. The last bug with emoji is not critical but aesthetic, unicode shows in input area instead of an emoticon. Sending and receiving works flawless.
Replacing it in input area is not really straight forward because what you see is not what you get, if you know what I mean. Unless, you want to send and receive HTML tags.

This is not an official update and emojis are not yet official 100% done.
If you can help and solve the bug, be my guest. Best whack I had at it was when using a dummy TextArea that stored the real raw message and input one was just a preview for user.
However, once unicode is inserted, it messed up the message length that I was using in onTextChanged signal and adding only the last char to raw message.
Also emoji selector could be multithreaded so it gets smoother and faster. I'm still thinking about it. Maybe later today...
I wanted to emojify notifications too, but that part is in compiled Python part of the app, so only TGalal can do that, sorry...
Anyways, once I deal with the last emoji bug, there is nothing much I can do until the rest of functionality is implemented like Image sharing or Location share...

Two bugs to report.


1. Keyboard automatically closes on pressing enter (Send), not sure if this is
deliberate but it can be annoying when in a very active convo. (solved with McPollo's modified UI)


2. The theme isn't saved anymore. If i choose the Inverted (dark) theme,
then quit wazapp, when I reopen it, it opens in the white (light) theme.

1. It does that for EVERYONE unless you have used a modded UI. Its how the app functions with this release.

2. If you read what I posted, you will see that I am talking about when I 'Quit' the app.. The theme should be saved if I quit the app, it is a bug.

The disappearing keyboard after pressing send isn't a bug, it's a feature but many users don't like it. Personally I think it is fine. You just have to tap the screen again to get back the keyboard.

In my case most of the time I took the phone and reply a chat in portrait mode. I took the phone with my two hands a type with the thumb finger, so if some else sends me a message, without moving to the top of the screen I was able to get back to chats view.
Is just an observation.
Another more justified observation, back button in top reminds me to Iphone. THIS IS MEEGO, and the back button is in the botton, so I think we should respect that.

By the way, I show my brother the N9 Wazapp (he owns an iPhone) and it says that the app look far away better in N9 that in iPhone.

If you have a look at the default messaging on the N9 the button to return to the main messages screen when viewing a conversation is at the top.

In my opinion they are going for the default look in the OS and are doing a remarkable job at that. Its just the text area and the send button that needs a bit of tweaking to match the default messaging interface.

That said, I'd like to thank Tarek, CepiPerez, @knobtviker, enki71, MohammedAG, flopjoke and anyone else who was involved in getting this amazing application to the stage it is at now.

Also, I can appreciate the amount of hours that Tarek has put into this project and that definitely deserves some compensation, so I will be donating once payday comes around.

Just to avoid any trouble in the future, Tarek should modify the splash at the Confirm Quit of the wazapp. It is asking:

"Are you sure you want to quit Whatsapp?"

Yeah, some of the files also say whatsapp as opposed to wazapp which could may well be law-suit fodder for whatapp inc.

still having this connecting forever bug , mostly when changing 3G/wlan.....and with v 0.2.5 and i realised wazapp saying not responding more frequently after updating to 0.2.5

Thank you, your improvements look great and also right - right in the way that everything matches better now. Original Emoji smile are still the best and the way you integrated Emoji selection looks promising.

As you mentioned by yourself landscape mode still is a problem. Furthermore send/emoji buttons should be smaller (like original messages). I'll have a look at the QML myself so that I can show what I mean.

Great work that "unofficial" update :)

i've been having some problem with the installation...

the installation would always stall when it attempts to download the 4.2MB of dependecies...so I attempted to install it via cmd and this is the log I got...:

anyone got any ideas?? much appreciate any help.

thanks a million 4 bringin wazapp 2 da n9, really appreciate it.
my text box doesn't resize when i get onto the next line while typing. this problem only occurs on versions after 0.1.8.
pls help- i always hav 2 install 0.1.8. cos of dis, bt i'd like 2 use da feature packed nu versions. thanks in advance.

I prefer Maemo 6x, as Harmattan's like referring to Maemo 5x as Fremantle, but each to his own.
It's certainly nothing like MeeGoCE (now known as MeR/Nemo), & it's also very different to Maemo 5x.

After the update of today .5 version my ui doesn't look good anymore.
Above the virtual keyboard i got a new line with only the 'send'-button.

Emoticons do appear but the ui which is shown at meegoexperts.com looks different.

Any tips/tricks i can do? Already did a reinstall and reboot...

Sorry may be the back button in the tool bar is to move back in the stack (previous view). I guess in this case the top back button is to move to the Chat's View. Sorry.

One more thing about keyboard, I already test it when sending sms, the keyboards nevers hides, you click send the sms view scrolls automatically and the keyboard controls remains open. Would be great if Wazapp could work the same way.

Thanks a million @tgalal for porting this one. I am using it from the first hour of its release by u without a single issue. Keep up d gr8 work !

Small bug, when the internet connection is switched from wi-fi to 2g/3g the app is being automatically quit but swithching from 2g/3g to wi/fi is compeletely fine, and on loading the app the theme reverts back to white eventhough it was set to black !

Would like to say: Thanks for the Great App and thanks for everyone who participated in the development and in the ideas.

Could somebody confirm these points if they are bugs or still not updated on the app:

1- In the group conversation I am not getting any names in course of conversation, so I am not aware who is saying what...
2- On the top of the conversation I am only getting 2 phone numbers out of the total parties in the conversation (Is that Normal?)
3- My lines in the conversation are still pointing to the Orange clock and not updated to green although parties in the conversation read my lines.

Hey guys:

- Wazapp doesn't have a settings file, that's why the theme isn't restored at startup. It's not a bug. It just not implemented yet.
- When you send a message, the vkb is closed because I like it more. It's not a bug, but I can change it again if you want it.
- The landscape mode sucks, as the stock messaging app does, just because the vkb is big. I'm still working on it, now the header dissapears when the vkb is open, and seems the send button is always on top. But I need to test it a little more.

for me, i was already in a group chat as i said b4...i think if u open whatsapp on android emulator(youwave) and tell someone to make u join a group then this would work...after that open on ur n9 and ull receive all msgs in group chat but from unkown senders...hope i answered ur question :)

Error fail-too-many

After 3 days with my account blocked, I wrote to Whatsapp support on monday and today I received Reply from them. this was their email

So if you are having this same issue, you should contact support team at support@whatsapp.com they might take a few days, but totally works :) try not to mention the unofficial client or they wont help you, and dont forget to include your phone number.

And now, things to fix for developers:

1. KB closing feature is not that great, we should decide when we want to close the VKB, most of people like to write in multiple messages.

2. The push notification widget still has the square profile pic, should be squircle

3. The scrolling is laggy.

4. The header on landscape mode should disappear when opening VKB

5. The emoji in chat are weird? Why not use the default ones?

6. And the space reserved for emoji and media sharin can be a tad smaller (5px?)

Background color is always white when i start up, even if i have changed it to be black. Not a big deal but little annoying.
