duuude.. You used some of my design ideas! Awesome :D I'm loving it already!

formats we can add:
mp4, avi, 3gp, wma, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, tif, mp3, wav, m4a, aac, ogg, pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, vcf.

just a quick question. . I made a comment about adding numbers to the new messages in the chats screen. Any way you can add it?

I can add pdf, doc, xls and more. But, can we send those type of files through whatsapp server? That's the real question. You can't send those type of files in android, and I supose the same happens in other systems.

BUT that depends on whether this is WhatsApp not wanting users to have the extra functionality OR their servers are physically unable to send/receive such files.

TBH a file sending server can't really be unable to send different types of files, they are all just pieces of binary. The real limit will be the sizes of the files.

Meaning you might be able to send .flac files but not 100MB ones.

If that makes sense.

The files may be pieces of binary code but Whatsapp servers can easily filter them out by file extension. If the extensions are renamed it is another matter of course.

IMO, it is better not to put extra functionality beyond what the official Whatsapp client has. This may be used as a red flag by Whatsapp to filter and ban N9 users using such functionality. Nor do we want to mess up their servers if they are not equipped to handle them.

also clients on iphones and androids might not know how to handle new extensions. They know right now what extensions should fire what apps (pictures fires the media viewer) but what will PDF open if the client doesnt have a PDF viewer, same for ppt, or other extensions

Not sure if this helps, but there is limitation of 12MB (or 9MB?) for media sharing

Excellent work so far..

But how possible is it to integrate wazapp into the availability pane?
With all the issues related to connection, we can have an icon on the status menu informing us (at a glance) if we are connected or not.
And have the flexibility to go offline "Quit" wazzap without opening the app.

Well, I suppose we can start off with the basic formats .mp3, .jpeg, .mp4, vcf and location. Then other formats can be added in future updates when we know what we can send. I contacted Whatsapp, but they still didn't reply. So I'll use an N8 and iPhone 4 and try to send a couple of formats and see which ones go through. Stay tuned.

And how about this red thingy for new messages.. I tried adding a temporary counter to count the number of new messages received and change the number, but that would require adding images from 1-99 for each message. Also, I can't seem to distinguish between which user has new messages, so a little lost there. Any ideas?

guys i just want to ask .does whatsapp block some no, from registeration if it faild for many time ,,, if it true how can i unblock it shall i send e-mail to thier support or shall i wait till next month ,, cause now i got failed without any minutes numbers to wait,, thanx in advance

Hi guys,

In the initial registration form there is a country missing,
my country.

Its "Israel" and the country code is 972.

Btw, gaza strip/west bank is 972 also and not 970 as set.

Can you guys please add Israel to the countries list or at least put a free text zone for the country code?

Hi y'all,

I've just started testing 0.2.6 and I've encountered a strange bug already.

I was trying to re-sync my contacts through Wifi, but then during the re-sync process, I got disconnect from my Wifi and my Wazapp have been stuck at that loading bar screen since. I tried closing the app and reopening it, but I still got the same screen. I had to uninstall the application to by pass the problem.

Hope this is useful feedback for you guys and hope the developers can look into this issue. Thanks!

Ok so here is a bug ive been really experiencing a lot... If i don't open wazapp for a while or leave it open... it closes the app. I then have to reload everything (chats, and loading screens). Just thought to throw it out there... it wasn't present at first (or maybe its just 'coz i always kept it open that only now im noticing this) :) still testing for any unnoticeable bugs :)

i proposed to add cancel button or/and timeout to dev.
btw you could just kill the process and restart app - as closing app - didn't really close it.

I guess it's crashing then (happens on my 2nd N9 as well). Run it from Terminal and check the output when it closes.

Hi,

first of all many many thousands thanks for you effort to bring whatsapp to Meego.

Now a suggestion/question:
Do you plan to integrate the chat/status to the native IM 'app' Meego, so that e.g. the online status is integrated with the contacts just like skype/jabber/... accounts? If so, this would be brilliant...

(Or has this been addressed already (sorry, didn't really search and did not read all 119 pages of this thread)

So I'm having this behavior and only want to confirm that is the way it should be work.
I open wazapp, receive a message and the usual tone, then while the app is open if I receive another message it's a small bip with a short vibe, but if i left the phone and the lock screen is active if I receive a new message there's no loud notification, so if you have your phone in the pocket or out of you sight you won't notice you have a new message.

This is how it should work? Or is a bug?

Please can someone tell me.

for next version, it's not so important to me the settings change or status update, I'd be more than happy only with the the app working fine without losing internet conexion while switching from 3G to wifi or having the app blackground for a long time besides a beeping to notify a new message

I can confirm that the multimedia file sharing (receiving) works great, the settings menu is also nice :)
there are also many bug fixes too. (like for some people no more crashing when changing from landscape to portrait and vice-versa)

keep up the great work devs!
