hi

i found your post and followed it. Maybe i have done a mistake but it did not work. Do you mind telling how you did that change in the file and check if your post has the exact details?

i used xterm and nano.
logged in as root
opened file
changed the codeline
saved and exit

after the change wazapp showed the bootscreen a while and then exited.

yeah i noticed that some hours later :D keke

i use winscp but i was not able to gain root access with it to edit/replace files in a root level directory.

so I had to use xterm on the n9 and change the file there. not really comfortable....

tried to follow some posts to gain root access with winscp, ssh, etc but i failed.

how do you do it?

unfortunately there is no way they would ever get a profit back from developing an official whatsapp for the n9...
without further development of the OS and increasing user base there is just no ROD (return on development :D )

you access N9 via winscp using user "user".

Step to do it

[1] Go in xterm
[2] devel-su
[3] passwd user
[4] enter password for the user
[5] you're done, can use winscp to ur N9

note that you don't need to be root in order to modify wazApp related file :)

and what do i take as username in winscp? "user"? :-)

when i tried to edit/save the walogin.py file in the /opt/... directory, winscp could not save it. thats why i thought that i needed root.

yes, "user" user.

after you edit the file using "vi" command, did you save the file with "wq!"?

i assigned now a password for the user
login with winscp works fine with user/pass

with winscp i opened the walogin.py file in /opt/waxmppplugin/bin/wazapp

when i click on safe, winscp is giving the message that it cannot save the file at that location

thats why i think that the file cannot be edited with only user rights. looks as if root rights are necessary?

but then I am not able to login with winscp using ssh as root... looks thats blocked with v1.2

alright

for users with the following problem:

v.0.2.4 working well
v.0.2.6 not connecting, red-dot, contacts syncing well

changing the codeline in the walogin.py did work for me

samething ... What i did that i activated my number on onther phone i came back to my N9'' and remove it.then installe ...after this i am trying to activate it.and failing each time... I tried the last code but the same ...

Hi, your problem maybe that you are trying to register with Whatsapp too many times with the same mobile number.

Have you have registered on one phone and then tried to register again with the N9? If yes, that may be the reason for your problem. It is not Wazapp, but Whatsapp.

I think you have to wait 1 month. Whatsapp do not allow you to change your account to different phones frequently. This means you need to keep to one phone.

I think that you can change your Whatsapp account to a different phone one time a month. You understand?

If you change of phone, you obviously change of IMEI, so you have to register again, and the code to complete registering will be different. "fail - too - recent:119" means you have to wait 119 minutes (it's near 2 hours) before trying to register again. You can't use Whatsapp in two phones because the problem of IMEIs and re-registering for every IMEI change.

registration is made with the IMEI or phone number? in a few days it's going to be a full year of my WhatsApp use, mostly on N97, only these last few weeks on N9 - would I have to pay now, or after a full year on one IMEI? ok, I guess I'll be notified by message from WhatsApp server, but - how to deal with the payment, someone had any experiences?

EDIT: to be clear - I'll be glad to pay it, just want to be prepared...

Registration made by phone number. think "phone number" as account is whatsapp server, like urs in forum.

As far as I know, WhatsApp will silently extend your period without you worrying on paying it..happened alot to people who used whatsapp (on android,symbian, bb).

notification..i dont think you will get it, but as fow now...no one can test account expired process since whatsapp keep renewing the period :D

the payment done by clicking account info / about form your WhatsApp official client....there will be paypal link

i thought so, but saw these posts on the previous page about the need of re-registering in case new IMEI is being used, so had to ask...

huh, that would be nice...

so, I'll have to find some phone with the IMEI not being previously registered with any number on WhatsApp servers (to avoid being blocked), then register my number on it, pay for whatsapp, then return my SIM back in N9, and then register on it once again, but only after 24h, not to get the "too many times" error?... mmph...

[1] The re-registering happened because you switch phone....the "password" for the phone number not valid upon switching phone. (you need to google on understanding whatsapp account's password details)
[2] Actually you can use any phone to 'pay' your whatsapp account (think about switching to new phone ;) ). Actually, I did tried on switching my whatsapp account from android->N9-> android back in one hour period....no problem...I believe the one have issues previously really based on telco of WhatsApp server resides in specific country.

The phone number is the login, and the IMEI is used to generate the password. Whatsapp security is s h i t , and it is just one of the reasons.

i tried now and its the same problem failing and more than 2 hours i waited ! ! maybe i have to wait more than this ... some times ... the 120 is change to 16 or 1 or other ..
