Sure, but it is. I don't know if it is legal but Whatsapp policy says that if you use the app you accept the applicable laws from California, and that you are responsible to respect the laws of your country. I think that Whatsapp might be banned in my country because of privacy infrignement, but it itsn't (nowadays).

Sure, but only in that special cases. I don't want my data in publicity companies. Whatsapp could sell all your information in some cases, they tell that in their policy (wich could change when they want).

I do too, but most of my friends use only whatsfack and even deactivated gtalk in their Android phones. So if I can use whatsapp with a non-real number and only adding the contacts that I know are using Whatsfack I will be happy. If not, I won't use it, I prefer to pay the SMS and calls or use gtalk/facebook-chat/msn/skype.

It haven't to be just a clone. Some things could be diferent. I am not whinning at the great effort that tgalal and other are doing. I just asked for an option to deactivate the sync. Alright, everyone's made their point, its over now. Lets forget about this and move onto more relevant things :)

Lets get back to bug reporting and the unfortunate whining for updates. It just wouldn't be a WhatsApp thread without little kids whining now would it :P

Whatsapp's privacy policy is the worst I saw. It can even change without notice the users (that's illegal in my country, Spain) , and it is considered accepted if the user continue using it after the change. In PeterBornx Java Port I used a false IMEI and a alias phone number from fonyou.com to my real number. In Yappari I have to use my real IMEI but I continue using not my real number.

I tried to register a completely false phone number but the free SMS services I tried didn't work.

Is anyone forcing you to use the app? If so, complain to them!

Seems like we're all in agreement then. I had a look at their "already existing app" on the iPhone and ... yes, please replicate. :D

Wazapp is early beta, so I trust this will be taken care of in time.

Well, you know an app is good and reached a high level of maturity when it attracts newcomers that never used the service before and have no clue about how stuff works, but complain about disclosure dialogs. (which BTW are built into iOS not the app itself).

So, in this high level of maturity, do you newcomers have any new bugs or other useful stuff to report that we all already don't know? :)

If (userful) { run to Github, project is open source, commit a code (maybe for a DisclosureDialog.qml) ? Make sure you use the dev branch.

It is not necessary that the valuable time of developers being wasted with this useless function, the solution is simple:

1) Open the wazapp
2) Register
3) Do not sync contacts
4) Ask your friends to write you a message to wazapp (sending them an SMS or calling them by phone, of course)
5) In the list of chats will appear every conversation, but phone numbers without the names (as it does not synced)
6) Enjoy chatting with your friends using the wazapp, without having to compromise the security of your address book.

The problem is not wazapp relatet.
It's a problem of the N9 that every app can have access to the private data whitout the knowledge of the user.
For example you could write a fart-app that uploads the whole contacts database to a server in the background.
Or did I missunderstood something?

IMHO it's not an non-sense requirement. Most people don't seem to put contacts with prefixes in their addressbook. I wonder if actually none of those lazy guys calls people while being abroad, then...

Please tell me how Whatsapp Inc. pay the big servers thay have and the salaries. Facebook privacy policy is quite better than Whatsapp one. But don't worry, mainly I use Google+.

I thought that Wazzap makes a synchronization when you run it first time (and maybe every time you run it) and the sync button is for resyncing it. Wazzap do not automatically sync if you don't touch the sync button?

Thank you for the sugestion but then I would prefer to use Yappari.

If Wazzap only makes synchronization of numbers with international prefix (and not all) I will be happy too, because I will only need to add the prefix to the contacts I want in Wazzap. Please tell me about it.

@don_falcone:

I like your signature, but even friends that like free software didn't want to hear me :(. So I will try to use my google-talk account (where I have all my contacts from google-talk, facebook and msn through the use of transports) whenever is possible but most people only uses Whatsfack.

Allright we should just stop answer to there stupid posts....

An idea i had a few seconds ago is the connection status of wazapp... If it's connecting oder offline we see this on top of the app... when it's online it disappears... but if it's offline its in front of the contacts if you scroll down...

so my idea is to connect the status with the wazapp icon on the left side off the bottom changes it's color... for offline we can have a red wazapp icon, for connecting a grey one and if it's online its the normal green one...

i hope you understand what i mean.

You come on this thread to find out about the latest bugs and solutions all you get is someone complaining about data privacy.Which logically you need to harass whatsapp!

I assuming those very "private" data contacts are already on whatsapp so you trying to protect them/data makes no sense!

I am only 19 :P

Don't have to worry about being harassed by customers :D

Probably why I don't care much for the number situation, sure if I was older and my number was related to much more important things, then I would go get a personal life phone and use that number for such services.

It's already fixes
But I've changed it again, no more header for connection status. My wazapp version change the icon color to gray when I'm offline, yellow when connecting and green when I'm online. But I didn't give this to tgalal yet. I'm waiting an update in github

I meant a graphical glitch that appears in the contact-view where the connecting/offline state is transparent and you can see the contacts below. In the chats-view this doesnt appear.

First, you dont just clone a dev repository and get mad if it's not behaving nicely.

Second, you dont just glue codes from two sources together and get mad if it does not behave nicely.

So yes, you are doing at least 2 things wrong.

So about the contacts privacy controversy, i've decided to add "Selective sync", where you get to pick only a subset of your address book to sync if you dont want to sync all. At least it would make wazapp one atep ahead of original Whatsapp in terms of privacy. You will not enter manually the numbers, you will just mark those you wish to sync.

You need to remove your database file too
It's located at /home/user/.wazapp

I tested your version, it works fine, just observe something to improve or bugs.

1. Emoticon cant be show if you enter a text with 2 lines "Press Enter for each line", see the below screenshot

2. The Group Chat title only show 1 people name, not all

3. The emoticon little bit small to show, compare to @tgalal one

4. The Change status: After I changed it, working fine, but displaying not fine, still is "Hi there Im using Wazapp", but I confirmed my status is changed, as I read from other phone.

Thats is all I found, but I think you know them too, thanks anyway:):)

Obviously the port cannot be started until the N9 version is stable and all important features implemented. Otherwise it will just be carrying over bugs and incompleteness to the N900.

It is too early to ask when the N900 version will be out. Just be satisfied with the answer that it will be done.
