As for this part, I'm asking you not to get my words wrong. What I was referring to, saying about "big boys", was just about two different ways to distribute devices among categories, which were discussed in that thread. And it was a figure of speech, don't hang on this.

Also, I am not whining princess, as you probably thought. Read the first sentence in this post. Taking devices from other competitions absolutely was not what I've asked for.

But as long as kojacker propounded to see if it's possible, I don't see any harm in asking.

You can have the extra N950 from the activities I'm handling and you can have more if you wish, since a big majority there is preferring the N9 fkr various reasons.

Awesome!! We'll grab that extra one for a start, that will give us a great mix of both devices :) I know it will be appreciated, many thanks!

Still thinking about this. I understand it is more uncomfortable for us organizers. But then again, if some users prefer an N9 and some others prefer an N950 and we have the numerical flexibility to satisfy both... why not trying?

For instance: would it be an alternative to have 25 N950s for the Code Competition by borrowing 5 from each of the other 3 activities, where more people are clearly interested in the N9?

If the Community Awards organizers don't feel like swapping numbers at this point I would still happily do the change for Qt 5 and Nokia Store activities, since a big majority of developers prefer N9 there.

At the coding competition we're expecting to have a mix of new and experienced developers, some of them may already have a N950 and some of them would just prefer the N9, so it suits us to have a mixture of both devices to be honest. It sounds like the N9 is being a big draw elsewhere though, and as you say we should try to satisfy everyone's choice if we can :) Im really happy with the 11 N950/14 N9 mix that is currently penciled in for us but I think we'd be equally happy to swap it around (e.g.14 N950/11 N9) and free up a few more N9s for projects elsewhere if that's helpful? :)

The number of N9 / N950 devices for each activity is now reflected at http://wiki.maemo.org/2012_Device_Program

Thanks!

qgil, you mentioned at the start of this program in the Coding Competition thread:
Quote:

Another possible prize could be an invitation to Nokia World or Qt Dev Days, but I would need to ask. Not for all winners, maybe as an extra fior the top 1-3?
Is there any possibility of this happening?

The timeframe of the competition looks to be finalized now, with the closing date for submissions 10 September. Add on a couple of weeks for the voting process, and you have a minimum date for any event you can provide invitations for.

Venemo tweets saying that he got his device by hand at Devaamo conference. Great! Two more community developers in that event are getting their devices by hand as well, and another one will receive it by hand at the Qt Contributors Summit next week.

I have updated Venemo's entry at http://wiki.maemo.org/Summer%2712_De...jects#Accepted with '''DONE'''. Please update your entries as you get the devices, so we all know who is still missing. Thank you!

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

New Apps for Nokia Store activity is completed.

Next week I will be busy traveling and organizing Qt Contributors Summit. I wouldn't want to be the bottleneck processing data and therefore I have asked all participants to send me their developer.nokia.com ID asap.

Hopefully the selection for the community awards and the recopilation of data can be done quickly as well. With Finnish Mid Summer coming, July's beginning of holidays of many and the sudden announcements I really want to have the first 75 devices on their way asap.

Don't worry about the 25 of the Coding Competition. Regardless of what happens their distribution is assured.

Council members, for the Community Awards data the best would be a spreadhseet with these columns:

Full name - developer.nokia.com ID - email - N9 or N950

Remember that all those users need to have their postal details and phone number in their developer.nokia.com profile!

Thank you.

Council doesn't necessarily have every Community Award winner's email. Wouldn't their email necessarily be in their developer.nokia.com ID? If so, it would be faster if we just left that information out of the spreadsheet. Will that work OK?

Yes, that's ok.

I have it because people ar sending me the details via email and it's a useful way to solve cases if there is any problem with the username itself.

PS: also they made the nominations through the mailing list, so retrieving the emails should be feasible. But again: not required:

I think we should be able to get all emails from their self submissions to the community list.

The question isn't whether we can get the emails; the question is what way will be the fastest?

qgil, in what form (service) devices will be send? It is possible, to give winners at least rough estimation of delivery date?

It's summer = holidays, and it would be pity, if some devices would travel back to Finland, because someone got 2 weeks vacations :)

Thanks in advance,

/Estel

Many Qt 5 and Nokia Store activities participants have received their devices already.

I recommend you to send me the data available for the Community Awards without waiting to the last guy. This way we can process faster the devices of those that answered faster.

Getting all the data next week (June) is definitely better than getting it a week after (July), but still we will be delivering devices on that month (as we did last year with the N950 program).

i would suggest you to read http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=85003 btw, there is a lot offtopic there. But few important points are made. As i'm not sure if Estel is worried about others getting device, or himself getting device as quick as possible, before more people speak up.

Nokia Developer Logistics sends devices via DHL Express. You usually get a notification mail with a tracking ID, and (if you're in Europe) it will usually arrive at your door within 24 hours after leaving Helsinki.

That thread is indeed full of off-topic / off-the-mark posts, if you ask me. Please don't bring any of that to the productive thread we have here. 25 people have been awarded in the Community Awards and they will all get their devices.

All of the data for the winners was emailed to you by Ivan two days ago.

qgil, as SD69 said, we've already sent you list on Friday. SD69 has just re-send it. If there are some technical problems with delivery of mail with attachment, we can use any other form of Your choice.

Also, please keep in mind, that Felipe Crochik donated his device to Coding Competition, for "best N900/Maemo program" (You will find info about it in spreadsheet, too). so, we have 24 people that should get their device, and one transferred to CC pool.

We have received the data of the 74 participants awarded with a device through the Community Awards, Nokia Store and Qt 5 activities.

All these devices will be shipped by the end of this week. Please make sure that you have added your postal address and phone number to your developer.nokia.com profile.

The remaining 26 devices will be allocated once the Code Competition is completed.

Could anybody confirm if :
- the Nokia N9 are sent from the country we live or from Finland/Germany ?
- have experienced any customs import taxes to pay ?

My case : I live in Brazil. 6 years ago I have had to pay US$300 of taxes to receive a loan Nokia 9290, plus 6 months to deal with customs import procedures. I hope to not have the same problem now.

The devices are sent from Finland. Yes, it is a pain to get devices to developers in Brazil. Usually it takes extra time, but no extra money from you.

Glad to hear about Brazil here.

The last developer device I got took about 2 extra months to arrive but I didn't have to pay anything for it.

Is there any possibility to get the N9 directly at Nokia (Store, etc) here in Brazil, as it is selling here ?

Nope, even if the devices look the same they come from very different sources inside Nokia.

Hey Quim, I tried merging my Nokia account to my developer account, and apparently the system is not case-sensitive anymore (it apparently linked to my old developer account, which I thought I'd terminated)

In any case, I've updated my information on the older profile (Hurrian) to match the newer one's (hurrian).

EDIT:
It seems that vi_, and possibly some other developers got their details mixed up in the SSO merge.
Can you please, please double-check the details of devs before the devices get sent out?

Regardless, it is still a very good idea to double check addresses with the other CA winners, it is possible it is not only vi_ with wrong details, but only he to see it.

I've tried to check my Nokia Developer account and somehow the contact information was changed to phone number and email totally unrelated to me. The account seems to be so corrupted that the password is no longer valid, and with the wrong contact information I can't change it. So it's quite possible this was an unintended mistake caused by change to single sign-on. I guess it's also possible that there's some malfeasance going on.

I guess it would help if Quim can confirm the present status.

Estel 2012-06-28 22:39

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

I've tried linking my nokia.developer account, and it worked - although, "city" was smashed out to clear field, probably, due to change made (now it's "nearest city"). I've fixed it.

In any case, it's really good idea to - somehow - confirm data of other winners too, as with vi_ false location of "Papua new guinea" and SD69's phone/mail belonging to someone else, it doesn't look good. Reportedly, some people have problems with "Nearest city" too - as it doesn't detect nearest city properly, even if it's capitol...

So what is happening here? Are the CA receivers to create new accounts? Will our old accounts be resurrected? Should we send our details to someone?

SD69; I do not think this is a case of malfeasary, simply a colossal F'up on the part of the people who merged the databases. I think they have blindly combined developer.nokia accounts with ovi accounts. Unfortunately anyone with the same user name as you on OVI seems to have won the altercation.

I got mail with right address but i checked it after merge and before it was sent. Maybe if you have all contacts with people, you should gather the info (as i don't think anyone would like to go public) and sent one email with all addresses and all the data in privacy to qgil?
