Personally, I'm traveling quite a lot, and due to that, every week or two I change my address at Nokia developer, to match my location :/

Well, I hope everything will turn out OK.

Perhaps Quim would be kind and follow up on the shipments?
To me it's obvious that not all devices are even shipped yet, like I wrote, DHL has no records of any shipping to me.

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

Called DHL today, but they don't have anything for me. Well, at least I'm sure it wasn't bounced back to Finland.

It's a pity, that "promised" mails with tracking code are not sent - it would be much easier to track package (obviously) and expect arrival, without calling DHL every few days.

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

The principle is simple: you don't need to do anything if nobody contacts you. This program is not the only activity Ville is working on. Again, please be patient and wait. It's an award you receive, not a product you have purchased. I understand you are impatient but please understand that there are other activities and stuff going on. Thank you.

I don't think anyone is impatient. We just have concerns because the outcome of the user databases merge between developer.nokia.com and ovi(or whatever) accounts was a mess. Things like vi_'s address being Papua New Guinea :) . Things like missing cities. etc.

Hope you got my point.

Heh, I'm quite convinced some people here begin to show preliminary symptoms of what might indicate impatience...
I, for one, can't !@#$ wait for my own oft-dreamed-of N950 :D

Keep calm and carry on, gentlemen.

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

I'm worried about things mentioned by freemangordon + the fact that it's holiday season, and following Murphy's law, there is a chance that many devices will "hit" recipients during their absence.

I'm all ok with receiving device in August or September (seriously!), without any worries. What worry me is lack of predictability.

SD69 received e-mail announcing his shipment + tracking code, today or yesterday. OTOH, other people haven't received it at all. It creates quite a bit of uncertainty :) I hope that You understand us, Qgil - we're not impatient or pushing You, just a little bit worried about logistic, with the unfortunate database merge being main reason.

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

Can anyone pop Ville an email?

Customs wants an invoice for the device to let me get it in without dealing with lots of hoopla.

Basically, it needs the type and amount of devices shipped, declaration that it's a gift, and reason for sending it.

DHL rep says that it can be sent to me by email, I'll ask DHL's customs guys if they want it sent direct to them too by Monday.

People have patient I am sure they will come to us, no meanimg sitting here wait go out in the sun instead

btw if you look on old repost you all see that qmgil had worked hard to make the devices come to us ASAP.

and even with the mess with accoint migration it will be solved if you.had done what they pointed out us to do. (merge all accounts amd fill in adressinfo)

mike, with all due respect, we're solving serious issue here - look at Post Before Your Post (tm) - so suggesting to go into the sun is little out of the line here.

yes but dont get it why not mail ville directly instead of ask here someone else doing it? Same goes for question related to dhl if u have shipment bumber contact DHL instead of ask qgil to ask DHL.

I dont want to be rude here, just saying..

Edit: just pm:ed villes email to Hurrian when I realized maybe he didnt have his mail.

Yes, its been almost 2 weeks now since shipments apparently began, some duty issues. Some apparently are on the way. Did anyone from the CA program actually recieve devices?
Cant help but feeling concerned, Would have loved a more tidy process, to make the worrying less.

Does anyone have Ville's mail?

I think its due time some sort of status is being reported to the many people waiting.

I have his mail, but AFAIK few people including me sent him mails, but it would be more practical to send him one mail with all problems of all people.

qgil, i was called toda, and said by DHL that Customs for some reason valued the price of phone 400+$ and there is need to pay 100+ $ taxes and as it's DPP Nokia would pay, but they refused me few times to contact DHL Finland and Nokia to figure it out. So after all i get the device, but Nokia needs to pay extra for delivery just because DHL Israel are stupid and no one contacted with them or contacted Customs.

I sent email to Ville again explaining that as well, as i don't feel it's right. But as well i have nothing to do about it.

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

Just to let you know: Today, I got my DHL shipment email.
So they are still processing the list.

qgil 2012-07-10 12:45

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

Let me insist again: please relax and wait.

There are other device seeding activities at Nokia, we are in the middle of Summer holidays and we are processing devices for all developers as we can. Unless you have a device stuck at customs, pinging Ville to know about your device doesn't help.

Thank you for your understanding.

PS: about people leaving for holidays, usual arrangements with couriers should apply. Last year we sent hundreds of devices during July and there were no incidences. Business as usual?

What do You mean exactly via "usual arrangements with couriers"? Last time I failed to receive shipment from DHL express during 2 days (two attempts of delivery) resulted in me being forced to pick it up myself from DHL point (central) ~100 miles away. And, without me doing so in 12 days (2 days of attempts +12 more in central = 2 weeks) would result in package going back to sender.

While I understand that it may look different via special arrangements between Nokia and DHL, I'm not aware of such being in place, so I'm - for one - really worried about Murphy's law, and "receiving" package on first day of my 2 weeks holidays, returning home, just to find out that I could pick it up since yesterday from 100 miles away - and now it's on route back to Finland.

Yet, as You've asked to relax, I'm putting my faith in Your words :)

/Estel

Ps.

By any means, I'm not trying to rise panic. The fact is, that I don't have idea how it looks in this case, if I can expect "warning" e-mail or not (reports differ greatly), etc.

I'm absolutely sure, that most of concerned people are worried about exact same thing - lack of clear information, or general "what to expect". Bugged migration of database via infamous "one signup experience" added it's own weight to this.

Thanks for understanding it.

qgil 2012-07-11 06:37

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

Ok, please send me an email explaining the case and I will forward to Ville. Plase include the dates you will be away. Thanks.

Estel 2012-07-11 15:50

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

All r right - we will forward mail to all CA winers, asking them to provide such data - then, we will send You a mail with batch data about people availabilities.

Thanks again for ensuring, that it will go smoothly :)

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

I've received an email from Ville asking for my details last Monday and got the device the very next day :). That's some fast shipping!

On a funny side note: after fully charging the device and browsing it for a bit, I updated Harmattan (MeeGo update) and got stuck in a boot loop upon reboot! I hadn't even installed a single application or performed any tweaks! Luckily, a reflash solved the issue swiftly. Nonetheless, it was quite an experience to say the least :o.

I'm in almost the same situation. Without installing any app I updated Meego with battery fully charged.
Now my n950 is stuck at the Nokia logo and does not boot.
I'll reflash it as soon as I have time to read a guide to do it... ;)

Btw: is this the latest firmware for the N950 (Win_OCF_02-6_RM680-RM680-OEM1.exe)?
http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/release/N950/firmware/

Does the OneClickFlasher completely reflash the phone or should I use the flasher with different files?

EDIT: Ok, reflashed and now my N950 boots. :)

Dear friends of Summer'12 Device Program, I hope you are fine.

I am one of 9 people who has DATA RECEIVED on program wiki page. I checked that my information was correct in nokia account but I have not received the device yet.

Does anyone know what is happening?. Is there a way to know where the device could be?.

I write from Mérida, Venezuela, South America.

Best regards

Antonio Araujo Brett

Re: Summer'12 Device Program

According to our records, all the devices haven been shipped EXCEPT those shipping to Latin America:

N9 Roberto Colistete Jr.
N9 Victor Bravo Bravo
N9 Mikhail Yasha Ramalho Gadelha
N950 Antonio Araujo Brett
N950 Fernando Muñoz
N950 Matias Perez

The reason is the more complicated customs situation there. These devices have departed from Finland this week and are making a stop in North America. From there they will be shipped to the different countries. Sorry for the extra wait. Not really our fault. :/

Hello Quim, I would like to know if we should wait for a tracking number before waiting for the package to arrive :) College started classes this week and there is nobody else at home.

Hello qgil,

I just received an e-mail from DHL about the N9 shipment and I'm in Brazil so I'm worried about the taxes here...

I know that you already said that we wouldn't pay any taxes but the shipping adress is my home and I just wanna know if (and how) Nokia will deal with the customs here.

Thanks very much for all Nokia guys who made the Summer'12 Device Program possible.
