DepCompareOp ???
Tell us what you can do with this bug?
When I do, 'apt-get update" everytime at the end there it is: W: Ignoring Provides line with DepCompareOp for package binutils W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems I tried to remove and reinstall this package, tried "apt-get clean / autoclean / autoremove" but it did not help, in the end still appears the error. How can I fix it? |
Re: DepCompareOp ???
It showed for me after apt-get update, but vanished once a run apt-get update again.

maybe problems in "binutils" ? |
Re: DepCompareOp ???
That's because some person uploaded in extras-devel package binutils2.22, which contain 'binutils (>= 2.22)' in its Provides field, which should not contain any version.

Re: DepCompareOp ???
You might want to unpack the package, edit the Debian/control file and change the 'Provides:' line to be empty! Or use, if you trust me, the package file from my dropbox here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59165022/bin...B0m5_armel.debCheck the md5sum of the file after download
Code:
md5sum Downloads/binutils_2.18.50.20070820-4+0m5_armel.deb |
Re: DepCompareOp ???
You can't fix that, as it is not issue with device, but with repository.
And I don't know what the hell the guy above talking about /: |

He could simply download the .deb file that's causing problems. Unpack the .deb file, rather than installing it, then browse to the control.tar.gz file and open it or unpack it. Within that .gz package there is a file called control, which tells the installer for which versions of deps it provides. Change that and... PRESTO. To make it even easier, michaaa62, kindly created an adapted .deb file to do just that. That being said: If OP would have simply used google to search for the error string, the problem would have been solved within minutes. |
Re: DepCompareOp ???
Eh. What he's talking about is the solution for him as a user without access to the repo's on how to DO NOTHING.
It's not the .deb file cause problems. It is OLD (2.22-6-maemo3, newest version is 2.22-6-maemo6) entry of package binutils2.22 (not binutils) in extras-devel. |
