Increse your gprs connection speed
 

Install application "speedy" from application manager

Install application "2G/3G switcher" from application manager..

Reboot your N900 and make your N900 in 2G mode...connect to your sim internet connection and then Switch your N900 to 3G mode..without disconnecting your net connection..

Open the app "speedy" from Menu and click start and see the magic..

It worked for me and i did it on my friend's device aswell(we live in INDIA)..

what could be the theory behind that? if you know please share? btw when we change back to 3G its no more gprs right? 3G is definitely fast!

Can't see how this would work but will try when I get home as I only have gprs. I'll report back and hope I'm wrong

As I thought, just switches the connection off as I have no 3G signal. never mind.

so speedy will make your internet connection faster?

i thought it just measures your internet speed.

@praveen...hope ur an indian ....in india u have different net package for 2g and 3g....wot i told is how to use Net in 3g speed using ur 2g internet package

@kent....No it doesnt make ur connection faster...in this case it just let u know if u have beeen successful or not :)
its just an app to measure speed of connection ..nothing more

ya i got it now! but this works only if 3G network available near to your location right? Did you try connecting in 3G mode?

yes.....u should get network if u switch to 3g mode to do this...
I always do this and get speed upto 2Mb/second!! with my normal 2g net package of Rs.98......

2 Mbps is great speed yaar! u didnt answer my second question? whatif u reboot , select 3G & then connect to internet?

I'm sorry yaar...i didnt notice it.... if u reboot....again u wil have to switch it 2G mode.....then connect to internet and then switch to 3G mode without disconnecting ur net connection....using 2G/3G switching app....

by the way....did u try doing it?
