No server response is that your phone couldn't connect to the WhatsApp server. Are you sure you were connected to the Internet on the phone when you tried to register?

:confused:scorpius soy de paraguay y segui todos los pasos de instalacion pero al momento de registrar mi numero no registra me da un mensaje de error old version osino otra cosa pero no puedo registrar mi numero porque? Ah y no me sale instalar juegos del palm pre de forma nativa utilizo el webOS manager pero no soporta varios titulos

Asegúrate que tengas la última versión 1.0.38 instalada.

Hi Scorpious, Having a minor problem with chat history. I had a reflash recently(emmc+rootfs) and i had taken the .config\scorpius and .yappari folders. After restoring these folders, i installed Yappari. It was logging in, but the each of chat window once closed, the history is not getting saved, it goes back to where it was in the backup i've taken. Plz help me with this issue. Thanks

It seems I'm gonna have to write a FAQ about backup and restoring Yappari data. Looks like this is the most frequently asked question EVER.

The problem is that you backed up and restore your data as ROOT and Yappari runs as USER and Yappari can't write to ROOT files, only USER files.

After you restore Yappari data, you had to type this command (and type it as root):

chown -R user:users /home/user/.config/scorpius /home/user/.yappari

That will change the permissions to all the files you restored to user:users and Yappari might be able to modify them.

If a hacker could find an exploit in Yappari could control your phone completely.

Your problem DOES create a log file, you just don't know how to get it. So keep reading the first post over and over again until you get your log file.

The "no_routes" error means that WhatsApp Inc. doesn't have a way to make a call to your country.

So you can only register via SMS. You already tried too many times and have to wait about 12 hours to try again.

What you can do is BEFORE trying again use the link in this Leinad post to request a code. AFTER you get the code in your phone, write it down and start Yappari registration. Wait for it to fail and then type the code when Yappari asks you for it and that's it.

Your dedication never ceases to amaze me.

Bluestack method is annoying me. I've tried installing it on 3 computers and each time it has failed.

I'll give this method a try and report back.

I've decided to share with you all a Whatsapp client I've been coding for a while now.

You just need Qt and Qt-Mobility (I guess all N900 already have this installed but just in case)

THIS IS NOT NECESSARY IF YOU ARE INSTALLING YAPPARI FROM THE REPOSITORIES

You can load the client and after it logs in you can close it and it'll run forever in background (you can see it in the status area running). To quit the application select Quit in the menu. If Yappari can't find a connection it waits silently until you have one so you can really "set and forget". Yappari will never force you to connect to the Internet, but it will always connect to the servers if you have a connection.

Yappari is event based so if your client is idle then it does absolutely nothing (no threads, no while(1) loops, etc). This is to maximize battery.

The first time you run the application you have to type your phone number and country code. Don't type any leading zeroes in those.

I think it's pretty usable.

We can continue the development depending on the feedback (that is depending on YOU).

If you people want good news, I have installed in my N900 a Yappari version with FULL push-to-talk functionality and it WORKS GREAT and the audio quality is SUPERB while data plan consumption is VERY LOW!!!

I'm still testing and fixing crashes. I had to contact PulseAudio directly through GStreamer to play voice notes even when the phone is Silent.

But I'll be uploading it to extras/devel very soon so that more people can test it. If it doesn't crash on you guys then we can promote it to extras/testing and start the voting process again.

Hi Scorpius, i really admire your good work towards giving us (N900 user) the opportunity of having access to Whatsapp on n900. Thanks in a million. I have this naughty question have been willing to ask due to my novice status on this community. I downloaded Yappari from Extra Devel, though i never activate the Extra-Testing repo. If yappari is also available in the Extra-Testing. Why cant it be graduated to meamo.org repo?

It actually doesn't matter if you don't have extras-testing. The Maemo process of promoting packages to the extras repository is like this:

extras-devel -> extras-testing -> extras

If you have extras-devel activated you will always receive new updates first, but they might be not stable.

The application will be tested heavily while it is in the extras-devel and/or extras-testing repositories.

Once the application reaches the extras repository is considered stable and safe to use.

A more precise answer of your question is in this link where you can see which version is alive in each repository. Right now 1.0.38 is everywhere, but when 1.1.39 reaches extras-devel you'll see the difference between the three repositories.

I have to admit I didn't even know that whatsapp allows voice notes. But I do find it weird that you want yappari to play voice notes when the user has explicitly set the phone to be silent.

I just hope you're doing this because you anyway need user interaction in order to play a voice note (in which case it would make sense). If the voice notes are played automatically without user interaction then I hope there's a way to deactivate it. In simple words: I don't want spam coming out of my pocket :)

You always have to press the play button to listen to the voice note. No automatic play.

EDIT: Nokia interpretation of Silent is "no ringtones" and I do like that interpretation. You should have realized by now that even when your phone is Silent the Media Player plays files with no problem.

Not really, try to play a video through cutetube when silent profile is active. No sound will be played...

That's because cutetube developer wasn't interested in figuring out how to do it.

But all applications that came with your phone when you bought it (that is all Nokia apps) produce sound even when the phone is silent.

Yappari 1.1.39 is alive now in extras/devel.

As usual and first: Thank you all for your donations! have been really helpful.

Features of 1.1.39 are:

* Fixed registration. I just tested it and it works, so no excuses.
* Push-to-talk: Press and hold the button and start talking, release to send. You have to at least talk 2 seconds to send something.
* There's a little green microphone icon at the side of the double green checkmark to indicate the other party listened to your voice note.
* Fixed random locations bug where the "Go" button wasn't working.
* I removed the "x stopped typing..." because it was annoying. If somebody stops typing/talking it just shows nothing.

You can all start testing!

EDIT: I forgot to tell you that there's also an option to change the quality of the voice notes you send:

- AAC (default), files are around 64 KB in size in average depending on how much you talk of course.
- AMR (tiny files - low quality), files are around 5 KB and recipients get it instantly.

The problem is that AMR encoding seems to be slow so you have to release the button like 2 or 3 seconds after you finished talking to avoid cuts in your audio.

AAC works perfect though.

In contrast Android clients send superb high quality voice notes that are around 200 KB ~ 300 KB in size and I think that's annoying.

tried push to talk but is not working
with aac settings when tap and hold shows recording but the counter stay on 00:00 and nothing is sent
with amr not even recording appears just the "how to use" alert message every tapping on the microphone

Press and hold and keep your finger there don't move it and you should see the seconds increasing.
