Anyway I haven't had any positive feedback about the voice notes (nobody has said: "hey it works and works great"), so I don't think people were interested in that feature :(

I wonder what people want to see in their Yappari then...

hey it works and works great for me.. :)
Isn't it a good idea to have an option in settings to preview the recorded audio before sending it?

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

Here's a fix for the people that have problems sending images to iPhones and Androids with the last WhatsApp version released like two days ago or something.

Please test it sending an image to an Android/iPhone and opening the thumbnail (the thumbnail will always be right, try to open the file):

Download Yappari 1.1.41 for armel

I tested it sending images to my Android device and it works.

Since it's an unknown network error I don't know what to tell you.

hello scorpius, in the process of installing nitdroid on my n900, I ended up having certain problem on the phone which included inability to launch some applications including yappari. I unistalled and reinstalled but it would only boot as though it was going to open but never open. I tried to start it from xterminal with the command 'start yappari' in root but it shows that yappari attempts to star and later stopped. I dnt knw ow to access the log pls help. Thanks

First: You can't use the same phone number in WhatsApp using NITDroid and in Yappari: WhatsApp WILL BAN YOU.

Second: Never attempt to start Yappari using root.

Third: You can try deleting the file /home/user/.yappari/chats.db or the whole folder /home/user/.yappari

That's so absurd. From root:

chown -R user:users /home/user/.config/scorpius

And that should fix your problem.

People is messing a lot with the root account forcing Yappari to behave inconsistently. Learn Unix basics: NEVER use root!

Hi Scorpius gr8 work dude. I have a feature request for consideration for future release.

I hate spam as more as you if not more. So, how about an additional media mute that only blocks all media for days/hrs/perm, similarly like the mute we have right now (IM+Media).

Well the current mute is very helpful no questions asked, but do u know there is always a couple of groups where ppl (media) spam all the time and they never had or will send any useful media ever. So to block those crackpods group spams.

Currently I am using a workaround by limited the download size to min from option but the thats not very efficient as it blocks media comming in from use full ppl in other groups.

Please do think about it.

I think it's very useful: If you disable the automatic download (set it as 0) then you will always have to press the "Download" button to download what you want. It doesn't "block media" like you say, you just will download what you want.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

Since Yappari 1.1.40 has this image sending bug it won't reach extras, so now we have to vote again for 1.1.41 to reach extras which seems stable.

Vote here

Hi Scorpius, I have more info regarding the problem of cpu usage, again I found my phone's battery drained and this was the situation:
yappari was using 80% or more of cpu and the log file showed the following:
Code:

Yappari will retry the connection in 10 seconds.
connected(): There was an IO Exception: There has been an unknown error: 11
Connection closed.
Stopping timers.
Freeing up the connection.
Yappari will retry the connection in 10 seconds.

I waited a while and checked the log file again and there was no change, could be something in the auth process?

For how long it was at 80% CPU?

When I start Yappari it reaches about 30% CPU while logging in (for like 3 seconds) and then goes to 0.0 ~ 0.2 % while idling.

Do you have a lot of open chats and groups?

EDIT: Close ALL your chats, leave ALL your groups, and measure it again with NO chats opened.

Normally it works as you say, this happens sometimes when I'm connected to the router I mentioned some posts before (I know I can resolve this not connecting to this router, but I think the app should never use so much cpu, this could happen with other routers). The cpu usage goes to 80% indefinitely. Looking at the log it looks like something hangs during the auth process (no more log in the file in the middle of the process), caused almost certain by a connection problem.
I had no yappari chats opened a the time and Yappari was started several days before.

Scorpius, I understand the risks and I never attempted it. The problem I had was that the nitdroid could not complete installation due to a bad internet connection. For the deletion of /home/user/.yappari/chats.db, cuteexplorer is corrupt and it won't open even as I tried to re install it. All I need is how to get my ohone back to normal even if I have to forfeit everything I have on it. Thanks

Delete it from terminal: rm /home/user/.yappari/chats.db

Remove cuteexplorer from the Application Manager and try to reinstall it if you like it. There are other options, like FileBox.

Do you have CSSU installed? If not, install it, and test it again.

To update the application? Maemo is debian based and that's what repositories are for.

thanks for the prompt response. I am relatively a newbie in the technicality of the phone. I dnt knw what CSSU is all about and how to get it. Is it going to remove broken packages which i believe are the cause of the problem? The phone has been misbehaving since i tried to uninstall maeflight which has refused to leave my phone after several efforts. It got worse when I couldn't successfully install nitdroid which leaves nitdroid kernel in the phone and cannot be unistalled. Please i really need a way out. Thank you

In this case you should try a total reflash of the phone.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

you have to download rootsh from application manager & install it on yo fone. after that you have root priviledges. open X-Terminal & type, "sudo gainroot" & root shell will be enabled

You need to sort that out as the very point of maemo and the 'nix type OS is that they can update system and apps from repos. Not a Yappari thing. Search for solutions to add repos to HAM.

Yep, but no need to type anything, just push space once to appears the send button and press send.

Works both ways, with the enter button on or off.

Not present in 1.1.41.

Also install CSSU.

Hi,

I'm trying to use the push to talk feature with no luck.
I get "Permission denied" error when trying to run "mkdir -p /home/user/.yappari/cache/sounds" command (with no root user)

How can I create this directory and solve this issue?

Thanks,

Bentzy.

what version of yappari you use? Simply download 1.1.41 from repos and you will not have to create directory

ok, try to install any file manager (like mc), exit yappari, delete yappari folder and then launch yappari again

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

Thanks it worked.

This is for people with the same non working push talk issue:
1. I created a compressed backup to this directory before delete.
2. Yappari created this directory automatically on the fresh clean session and the push talk feature works.
3. Last thing is to decompress the backup file and now all the chats & media is there and also the feature is still working.

Cheers,

I never used it on another phone besides I never had nitdroid on the phone. It was in the process of installing it that these problems started cos I couldn't not complete the process. If your applications don't open I think it's kinda futile to make Yappari work. You should try to make all your phone work.

You can try from terminal: sudo rm -r /home/user/.yappari

And try again with Yappari to see if it does start.

Like I said, install CSSU, which is like an update to your Maemo OS made by the community. Use the search button in this site if you don't know what it is. It's in the Application Manager anyway.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

This is what I got after entering the command.

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

~ $ sudo rm -r /home/user/.yappari
rm: cannot remove '/home/user/.yappari': No such file or directory
~ $

I'm on the verge of installing CSSU. Thanks
