hi everyone few minuts back i have got a message from server that new version of whatsapp has been released and there was a link to urgrade whatsapp i have opend it and the original whatsapp site opend after downloading it for symbian phones but it doesnt work....... is any body there who has got this message or how to upgrade it and does sync problem is also in it??

i received also messages from whatsapp server alerting me to update new version for new features. i was near to reply "please hire scorpius and tgalal in your dev team to support maemo meego and sailfish os" but i guess nobody will read except a bot or something like null

This is getting hilarious!!!

There is no official application from whatsapp for Maemo, they do not care about Maemo!!!
These helpful people try to connect us Maemo users to the noob world of iOS and Android toget snooped on, just WAIT for the update

1.register your phone number on another phone or easier on pc via bluestack (android emulator) until the step where you have to enter the digit code ( 6 numbers)
- use bluestack, so you don't have to switch your sim card
2. You should get an SMS with the digit code
3. DON'T enter the digit code on the other phone/pc
4. start yappari and continue the registration on N900
5. enter the digit code you got before
6. yaparri should log in

ok I've read the last two pages. I never used yappari before and decided to install it yesterday. Bad timing it seems... So does this 404 error means that
1- for now it's totally unusuable
or 2- is it usuable if you already have contacts in yappari?

If 1: ok let's wait and hope for an update
2: Then is there a way to manually add contacts to yappari? (I have none since I installed it only yesterday and there is this syncro failure)

if you not used whatsapp before you cant just add contacts without synchronization. you will be banned in whatsapp servers if chatting with not synchronized contacts.

From what I see the protocol changed from version 1.2 to 1.4:

Also authentication WAUTH-1 was removed and there's a new WAUTH-2 method:

normaly I'm not like that, but why-oh-why is everybody complaining about a FREE program, that somebody makes in his FREE time?!?!
I'm still happy using it, everything works...if you wan't to have a full working program, buy a new phone that works on a OS thats supported by its manufacturer, and not by ppl that who do this for "fun"...or be happy with this,or program something your self...

The problem is the free time to do this, which I don't have.

Once the WAUTH-2 authentication protocol has been reversed the contact synchronization must not be very hard to implement.

The problem is that those encryption methods are pretty hard to reverse.

Whatsup doesn't use wauth-2, but new syncronization was already implemented a lot of time ago. You can see what to send and what you get in logfiles. It's really simple and a lot faster than old method.

So, ask someone that uses whatsup for log files

Hi I am also having problems I bought by N900 last weekend to replace my Samsung Galaxy S2 as the on screen keyboard was doing my head in for a long time and I like the idea of Linux over android. Anyway after some sucess getting things working (lol took me half a day just to get cutetube to install) I thought I would try Whatsapp so I installed Yappari tonight but am getting an old version error when I try to register my number.

This is an awesome form factor for a phone I hope things continue to get supported :)

Well, thanks to coderus who did the work I was lazy to do I might be able to release a 1.1.42 with registration and contact synchronization fixed BUT it will only work for a few weeks since protocol 1.4 has to be implemented.

I'll take a look later at protocol 1.4 so far it didn't seem complicated to me but since everybody is struggling with it then I'm pretty sure I'm wrong about it but I won't ever find out if I don't try it.

Hi coders (Scorpius, Coderus, CepiPerez, ...) , BIG Thanks for all you effort and passion in OSS and keeping N900 alive.

It's somewhat fun that just when I've decided to buy the Whatsapp subscription to extend support until 2016, and just made a new small donation to thank and support Yappari development, the company changes the protocol leaving my Yappari unusable :-)

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if 1.1.42 is published, and check implementation progress of new protocol 1.4 .
