Ummm, they modified and improved a lot (in my opinion) their privacy policy past Jule 7th, but it's not aceptable by me yet. As popularly said "If You're Not Paying for It; You're the Product".

From 5 B: "...by submitting the Status Submissions to WhatsApp, you hereby grant WhatsApp a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the Status Submissions in connection with the WhatsApp Service and WhatsApp's (and its successor's) business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the WhatsApp Service (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels..."

Nowadays they don't do the same with all your messages, like in past policy revisions.

From Privacy Notice, Changes and updates to this Privacy Notice:
"revisit this page to stay aware of any changes. Your continued use of the WhatsApp Site and WhatsApp Service constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any amendments."

They won't notify you. Tomorrow they could change it and say that all your data is selled to spammers and you are focked. It would be easy to send you a notification throught whatsapp about it.

In the Event of Merger, Sale, or Bankruptcy:
"In the event that WhatsApp is acquired by or merged with a third party entity, we reserve the right to transfer or assign the information we have collected from our users as part of such merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control. In the (hopefully) unlikely event of our bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, receivership, or assignment for the benefit of creditors, or the application of laws or equitable principles affecting creditors' rights generally, we may not be able to control how your personal information is treated, transferred, or used."

Other business assure you that in that cases they will ask for your acceptance of buyer privacy policy.

Don't use Google Chrome they save your passwords so if you use Chrome in another computer you don't need to type them, etc.

... and I'm sure after a year you won't pay for Whatsapp anyway so you should just give up now.

Have you ever used an Android? the very first thing it does is synchronize all your address book emails everything with every detail to Google. Nobody cares about that but you.

My mobile company privacy policy is ok. I don't use Chrome, I have Chromium (that is equal to Chrome but whitout privacy ****) and I use Firefox with Addblock Plus, Cookie Monster, Ghostery, Priv3 and Flashblock to protect my privacy. I think that anybody payed for Whatsapp yet, do you know somebody that paid? I don't used Android but Google privacy policy is acceptable, I don't know if Android have something extra.

You have issues. I suggest you should go see a doctor.

In the meantime just don't use Whatsapp ever again, and be firm with your friends about that decision.

Not sure if already reported but when sending a larger link then the chat window you are able to move the window from right to left.

This might also be a QT bug?

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...712-222302.png

I hope these screenshots explain it well. Closing and re-opening the windows doesn't fix it. It fixes itself once the link needs to be loaded when scrolling up.

Nothing to worry about, it's not something major anyway. Should be one of the last things on a to-do list ;)

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

My problems with Yappari regarding the address book; no matter if it's a local number or the mobile one of a contact - they both can be chosen, no way to differ them as just the name shows up.

For example

+49 12345678 <- mobile phone number as it starts with a "1" - easy at least in germany, all mobile numbers will have a "1" except it's a service number.

+49 654321 <- number at work

+49 321654 <- number at home

Any way to just show up contacts that are registered with WhatsApp as the original client on Symbian does?

Thanks for your coding work!

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

RX-51 that's already implemented in the version I'm working on, that eventually will become 0.0.17. No need to put the plus sign anymore, contacts numbers can have spaces, dashes etc Yappari will show you just the ones that are registered with Whatsapp.

I've read it already... In java port i can see the people who is already added and i can add new persons too.. But yappari doesn't show them?? Anyway to add numbers with yappari, not java port?? Or another way to see my contacts??
Thanks for your return...

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

Ok, confusion is possible. You don't have to add them, you have to edit contacts in your phonebook and add there the international prefix to the contacts. Close yappari (with quit button) and reopen it and you will see the contacts of the phonnebook wich already have international prefix.

Scorpius 2012-07-13 01:01

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

As malkavian and the first post say, Yappari will only show contacts that are in international format (start with a plus sign +)

Woah.. How about everyone just chills out a little?

malkavian simply asked if you would consider implementing a feature to the Yappari client. If you don't want to do it, that's cool, it's your project. I haven't read anything from him criticising you for saying no.

Now, everyone's got different levels of their desired privacy, and what information they're ok with companies collecting. If any of you disagree with malkavian's personal level, that's fine, but I'm not sure where all the hate is coming from (not singling anyone out, people just seem hostile to his opinions).

For another data point, I would consider it a good feature of a program that allows this customisation of which numbers are sent to the whatsapp servers. Now, I'm not criticising you either, if you don't want to implement it.

I lean towards malkavian's viewpoint on this, though I don't hold so strongly to the principal (I don't use Facebook because of it, but I've never checked my mobile company's privacy policy - I've no doubt all the Singapore providers have equally awful ToS).

I'm not trying to tell any of you that you should feel differently about it, but maybe you guys can all have a little respect for other people's opinions?

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

@gr8rishabh,

Last weekend I was on another country (obviously roaming) and Yappari continued to work equally well.

You obviously are aware that Whatsapp/Yappari needs a GPRS/UMTS connection. That means you have to enable data while roaming. Check in the Settings/Phone/Data Roaming ("always allow" or "always ask")

I do not see any need for doing so, unless yappari did not run on your device.

Do not expect yappari to show your contacts in the main window of the application, your contacts will show up when you press on "Create Chat".

Hey Scorpius, thanks a lot for making this, I've wanted a Whatsapp client since I got the N900, two years ago :p! I've been using Yappari for about 2 weeks now and I find it working pretty well :). I had some small issues with it, but since version 0.0.15, everything is working nicely. I'm really looking forward to multimedia messaging :)

Greetings,
Jim

Delete the file /home/user/.config/scorpius/yappari.conf and then run Yappari again and re-register.

If a contact has a Mobile Phone in international format like +17861112233 NO spaces, NO dashes, just the plus sign and the numbers, it has to appear under Create Chat.

Not YOUR number, but the other contacts in your phonebook's number
Basically open your phonebook, look for some contacts that you believe is registered to Whatsapp, and see if their numbers are already in international format. Change them if they haven't

I know that the concept of Yappari's usage for now is for experienced N900 users. However, might I suggest that when you consider making a Noob Friendly version, including a Reset Configuration and View Log options in the Menu might make the app look complete. However, this is just a suggestion.

Hensch 2012-07-15 12:30

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

I also have two suggestions:

If a chat was created once and has a chat history, it would be nice, when this chat appears in the chat list automatically when Yappari is being started the next time.

I sent a message to my friend and he said my username was "s042" or similar. Is it possible to set an username in Whatsapp?

Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to v0.0.17 :)

I am having problems connecting via wi-fi, and this only started after installing CSSU.. Yappari just gets stuck on "Connecting" but works fine with my phones data connection. i tried uninstalling, and deleting the .conf file, then reinstalling. but still the issue remains. Anyone with an idea how to get around this?

I think it would be interesting to have this in the first post of the thread.

Thanks for your work, Yappari is working perfectly for me :)

I'm not really sure what could be the reason for this problem but the first thing I would try is to delete the WiFi connection in the connection settings list and create it again. I don't really know, but maybe it helps...
