Superb!
Everything is working fine. Is it possible to use the picture's you already have with your contacts? For example Hermes grabs the pictures from Facebook. If I find any bugs would you rather have me post them here or in a PM? |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

But my question: how can I use with "Emoticons" on Yappari? Only I can saw "Emoticons" from another (send an message to me) Can someone tell me how? Thank you! |

Great update, thanks! What do I have to do to preserve message history from 0.0.16 over to 0.0.18? (Sry when I missed that on pages before, haven't found it)

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.16

@Scorpius:
A suggested feature... I have 2000+ contacts in my phone and they are all in international format. May I suggest that you place a progress bar when doing a sync with whatsapp server? |

Right now it makes Yappari laggy but the idea is to work on that and fix it so even if the synchronization takes 20 minutes you don't even notice and keep working with Yappari with no issues. |

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
I just happened to reflash my device 24 hours ago to test CSSU and hostmode-gui on kernel-power-flasher. So I installed everything after reflashing and found that mscim didn't work on yappari again (remember me, Scorpius?). This had happened before with some other apps that I wanted to try (e.g. jspeed, cell-modem-ui, etc), even with mscim-bridge-client-qt4 installed. In order for me to use mscim on yappari, I have to choose not to use those apps, which is fine as they are not critical. So now I'm reflashing again and installing yappari first, then installing other apps one by one to find out which app is crashing mscim/yappari (and I have to reboot after installing each app!). I hope it's not one of CSSU, hostmode-gui or kernel-power-flasher because I really like to have them.
Anyway, the above is just a side story. The following is what I'd like to report. Since I just reflashed my device, I installed afresh the 0.0.17 deb instead of upgrading from 0.0.16. After installing 0.0.17, I could not register. The progress bar just kept going for 2 minutes, before the main window showed up with the message "The verification SMS was never received. Please try later." showing in the status area. No logs or yappari.conf were created. So I uninstalled 0.0.17, installed 0.0.16, registered, and upgraded to 0.0.17. And things seem to work fine so far. |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17

2. If your contacts are not in international format, did you use the correct country code while registering? (you might want to recheck your .conf file) 3. Are your contacts using non-digit characters/spaces? (Although this supposed to be supported on this release as well IIRC) |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
I updated from v0.0.16 to v0.0.17 today and everything is working as proposed. Good job Scorpius ;)

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
is it safe to downgrade from 0.0.17 to 16? either 17 is doing more stuff in background or the higher memory comsumption is making it being swapped out and is making my phone more laggy

For version 0.0.17, is there a significant difference in 3G data usage with the new feature contact sync ?
I didn't upgrade to v0.0.17 yet |

In an official Whatsapp client would be that number every hour, so if you have 1000 contacts you'll be consuming around ~2 MB each day. I have this idea about "Smart sync" to optimize that a little bit. Something like sync your whole address book once a day, and every hour sync just confirmed Whatsapp users (so people's status would be refreshed every hour). Maybe code a GUI to configure it even more. There are some people that just don't care about people's status and could turn that off or set it like once a day or something like that. Other people just LOVE reading people's status like every minute and would love to sync even more often than an hour. That's why the option "Sync Now" was added, for those status freaks :) |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
Great Job Scorpius. Thank's a lot. Sync works very well.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
I have just upgraded to v0.0.17
I noticed that while synchorization if I click "create chat" it closes I think this happens because of high memory consumption plus I have opessh-server which takes huge portion of RAM. I hope in addition to memory optimization of sync in future releases that you allow sync to be completely disabled. I have a question. What happens if a contact with same name is saved but with like 2 or 3 numbers fields, which number will receive messages? |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
I don't receive messages since v 0.16. any hint?

About the other question, like malkavian says, with Contacts Synchronization only the Whatsapp registered numbers will appear. If you have a contact with two mobiles and both are registered in Whatsapp, then there's no way to know which number will receive the messages so far. Eventually I'll code something like if you keep your finger pressed above the contact a little menu will appear and will show you the phone number. I said "eventually".... |

It was the top selling application in several countries with revenues even bigger than Angry Birds! YES: PEOPLE PAID FOR IT. There are 2 billion of Whatsapp messages PER DAY, Whatsapp Inc never reveals the number of users, but it must be like half of what Facebook has... I don't know a single person that uses Facebook and don't use Whatsapp. I actually know a lot of people (from work actually) who uses Whatsapp and will never have a Facebook page... Just use Google. Example: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/30fd99a2-0...#axzz21W46XTT1 Actually now Whatsapp Inc has a newer strategy that might end without charging anymore: Whatsapp Inc is talking directly with the cell phone companies all around the world to include the software preinstalled in cell phones. Cell phone companies see Whatsapp as a boost of the data consumption, and doing so will really increase the data consumption. Why almost everybody uses Windows? because it's preinstalled in every PC out there. That's the strategy. People think Whatsapp hurt the SMS traffic but that's not the case, since the great majority of cell phone users have low end cell phones, and just a few percentage use smartphones. In conclusion, they don't need to sell your number to anyone. They are already millionaires. |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
I think, this is the wrong place for discussions like this. Therefore I will come back to the topic, because I need some help: I changed my N900 and flashed an image with BackupMenu. When I am opening Yappari (actually Version), I cannnot connect and shall send my number for registration. After sending the number I have to wait some seconds. Then I get the information, that I have not received registration message. What to do?
And again: Many, many thanks for the development of Yappari. I will donate this work. |
Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.17
Acurus_ like somebody said before, registration is broken in 0.0.17. You have to install 0.0.16, register, and then upgrade to 0.0.17.
