Setting all of that aside, the real issue is the conflict of interest, not who "deserves" what. It's absolutely impossible for the judges to decide what they themselves deserve with any objectivity.

It was NOT a contest! Period! It was an AWARD!

You're quibbling over semantics instead of defending the actions taken. The nominees contested over a set of awards - it's a contest. In any case, whether it is or not has nothing to do with the situation.

I was being charitable to the council with those numbers. Valuing each N950 at $1434 (= £920), the council is laughing its way to the bank with $4702 in misappropriated awards (3x N950, 1x N9). That's only for those four phones - the total sum for the entire program is a fair bit more.

The motivation for greed is rather obvious.

That the councilors consistently sidestep the issue of conflict of interest demonstrates that there isn't much of a defense. That's why the only possible solution involves stripping the councilors of their improperly granted awards.

today, i've not seen Arie or itsnotabigtruck get personal or aggressive like what Council were objecting yesterday (they were just objecting to unfairness yesterday but the Council can have their own opinion) then why have the councillors gone away from the thread? isn't it better to thrash things out here at the same time?

At least Rzr did here : http://maemo.org/community/maemo-com...ission--e-yes/

Can i make a suggestion here in that someone, not me, needs to start a vote thread and get the whole community behind this one way or another because it will be the only way to make something happen in my opinion.

Something like 1/ Do you agree that 4 members out of the 5 should grant themselves this award or 2/ it is a conflict of interest and the members of council should not be applicable for this award and therefore forfeit.

This will be much clearer if done this way and you need to hide the voters names because if not anonymous might put a lot off from voting.

Yes that's what I wanted to highlight , any projects that can ensure a future for the project is a good thing for community and for our environment...

If you never heard about "planned obsolescence" watch :

Nokia used to be make solid and long term devices ... but it's future is a bit compromised ... what a paradox ?

1. Learn what Nepotism means.

2. Read the archived thread you dense headed turkey. Estel is disagreeing with a cut off date ffs. That makes you and your cohorts eligible.

3. WTF is your damage? You are now trawling my name across the internet to try and find some dirt. Get a grip son.

4. If you are too stupid to figure out what is and is not a contribution to the community then I give up. I will give you a clue, there is in fact no less than TWO numerical measurements of this.

5. Abill, seriously STFU. You are standing at the sidelines stirring for no other reason than you have forgot your meds again.

6. Please in some small words explain what benefit nitroid is to the maemo community at large other than providing a nice long list of devices to troubleshoot and fix over IRC.

7. I am done with this thread. Aries, welcome to my ignore list.

Finally you get it ;)
There is no way any councelar can convince the (few) people firing here.
The same people would be flaming, yet with other arguments, if the council members did not get any awards.
But, perhaps you will just get lucky, and this thing will die with the community?
I for one will stick and fight for this to the end to keep what we have, hopefully more and better.
Wish the good people fighting here would spend their horses the same way.
