Now half my application icons show red (!) and installing is taking long. =D
I hope it wont break my phone.
And longer it installs more icons turn to red (!). =S
Soon all icons.

Installion didint work and it broke half of my applications and I have to install them again!:confused:

Reboot didint help.

I know theres risk testing this stuff but can you explain why did this happen.

Aaand again edit: re installing one (filebox) fixed all. :D

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Just wanted to thank everyone involved for letting a silly noob like me try this baby out. Its crazy fast, i love it already and it will most likely only get better in time. A few crashes, is all i experienced so far.

Just to be able to use native keyboard already makes it better then opera. Some pages renderes wrong when i dont have landscape but thats nothing to worry about. Its only a few pages that ithappened to.

Anyways, cheers everyone.

romaxa 2013-01-28 21:11

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Btw, if you see any issues with rendering, make issue in github, so we can track it and fix it.

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

I've downloaded the .deb and the app looks pretty good for this first release,
The only thing that I've found is that from time to time the app closes unexpectedly and the other thing is when pressing buttons (I suppose in html5) some times it doesn't work (happened when tried to browse https://touch.facebook.com).

But overall great app, really quick and looks promising.

Please if you can have a repository set up so we can receive updates automatically would be great, if not, we'll keep an eye on the forum for future releases.

Regards.

I have small improvements for Harmattan version ui.
Dont read if not interested. :p
And only do these things if you want/have time. :)

-There should be option to have adress bar always visible.

-Tab bar would be better if it comes from right side, not from down because it would be easier to reach.

-When you start typing adress first letter is capital letter. (I dont know why it annoys me :p)

-I personally dont like rounded corners.

-If you have Qt Fennec open on multi tasking screen home screen icon doesnt open it. (I like to keep some applications open and then press icon so they open very fast)

I dont know why I wrote these things, you know these things and just dont have time to make them happen.

TRied.coderus.early version. Friggin fast indeed. But why android tablet.UA for a start? Better.iphone UA :D

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Just tried it, looks great and a definite improvement over the previous versions. I'm looking forward to a loading notification for when navigating to a new page, and all the text in the URL highlighting when you tap into there for the first occasion. Once this is done, I could consider it great for 24/7 use. No crashing yet from what I've found.

Because romaxa has youtube working on it using Android tablet UA?

@djcrash1981 check link you downloaded .deb file. it's already in repository, and you will receive updates :D

iianm as for now the way youtube pass the video stream to client for android UA and iPhone UA already the same..i might be wrong tho.

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

you can edit UA self.
check /opt/fennec-qml/fennec.sh

Kroll 2013-01-29 08:45

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Well it is not super fast. It is pretty fast… like Opera browser. But for now Opera has so much features which Fennec don't have at this time so…
Good like guys, hope you'll make a nice browser to show alternatives to Opera.

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Hi there,
coderus, the most annoying thing is this "auto" zoom which occurs pretty often. The page is zoomed in or out, we don't know why. I guess you're aleady aware of this problem.

If I can give the most important feature I would like to see in this browser, that would be Mozilla Sync. Once Sync is available, I'll get rid off Firefox.

Demati 2013-01-29 12:38

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

@coderus

Thanks for doing this! Very good work so far.

I have been putting the browser through its paces and so far it has been fast and accurate. My only gripe is that it seems to randomly crash. I have been trying to find a scenario where I can reproduce the crash but haven't had much luck yet. For what it is worth I do not have FasterN9 installed but I do have some N9Tweaks installed (namely modified system UI). I'll post here if I can find a reproducible crash scenario.

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

dont ask me about fennec featues/crashes/suggestions please. use it only AS IS.
thanks :)

Demati 2013-01-29 13:18

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

In that case I'll report it to the github link posted earlier. Still need to figure out a scenario first, though.

no :D
this is only preview demo. 99% of ui and qt functions will be replaced in future :D

Well I must say I'm impressed. Great work Coderus. I guess this one day could replace nokias browser. Keep up the good work!

Even with utube video stutering, can still move around in the page with no obvious lag. Cooool

AFAIK there is no VP8 decoder in DSP, so you may try to disable webm video in prefs.js(media.webm.enable=false or something), so youtube will send H264 stream which is decoded via DSP.

I'll try to upload some POC tomorrow. But mind you, no fancy UI or something. It will be just that - POC ;)

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Thanks. Be aware that quite some people associate POC not only with proof-of-concept, but also with piece-of-crap ;)

djcrash1981 2013-01-29 18:06

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

@coderus Thanks for the pointer, I'll check that.

And I think another feature needed for the next release could be closing a tab, because right now if you open multiple tabs I don't see how to do it.

Regards.

coderus 2013-01-29 18:07

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

@djcrash1981 just hold on tab to close it

I am well aware of that, let everybody decide for himself if it is POC or POC :)

Re: Qt based Fennec (Firefox) - IPCLiteAPI - Hell it's fast!

Thanks for Fennec-QML 0.0.1, it is better than Firefox v0.15-0.17 in some aspects. E.g., for IPython Notebook use on MeeGo Harmattan :
"Fennec-QML (using IPCLiteAPI) v0.0.1 shows promise : renders MathJax, doesn't zoom in/out automatically like Firefox, perfect use of keyboard (vkb or Bluetooth) so vkb arrows and shift+enter are ok, Bluetooth keyboard with all woking shortcuts. But it is unstable (closes sometimes), has problem scrolling long notebooks (only vertical arrows of Bluetooth keyboard work) and can't select "New Notebook" or "Cell" type."

Maybe the new releases will solve the above issues, so Fennec-QML will be the best web browser for IPython Notebook use.
