Re: It's the final countdown!
Good on you Dave....
I highly suggest electric. they are better for the environment , MUCH cheaper to run, and fun too It's been a year now for me, of solid daily driving this... https://mcn-images.bauersecure.com/P...per-soco-6.jpg and it has been a great deal of fun... zero repairs ...virtually zero maintenance... got the torque of a honda civic.. excellent acceleration, excellent disc brakes, nimble quick, turns on a dime. so as well as hauling a trailer of groceries weighing in at about 200lbs I can carry a passenger .. I have loaded it up with girl , cat and dog and headed off on day trips.. the range with a couple extra batts is the equivalent of the range a Tesla has It takes perhaps 3 hours to charge a batt from a standard outlet and costs about 25 cents to charge.. and the money I have saved compared to a traditional vehicle...this last year now...I could buy 3 of these cycles a year in what I save.... E- Cycles are fun...and worth every penny. Just get a reliable manufacturer. There are a few new ones out there... But I went with a reliable .. I suggest Super Soco frankly I suggest one for every member of the family...they are just too fun. |
Re: It's the final countdown!
Where do you put the cat on your motorcycle?
|
Re: It's the final countdown!
I've been considering an electric bike for two years now for my daily commute (70 miles round trip). It has to be not just road legal, but also motorway legal, do the round trip on a single charge with some mileage to spare and not be prohibitively expensive. Such bikes are few and far between, if they exist at all. I would be happy to stand corrected.

Re: It's the final countdown!
a super soco with 2 batteries (both in the tank cavity ..there is space for two there...) would definitely be more than enough
Road legal? Motorway legal? Really??? They aren't making these in basements or garages out back of the house pichlo Mine meets Canadian and and my Provincial government standards (which are the most severe in the country) I have no doubt it will meet yours. as far as I know they sell them in the US, UK, Europe and elsewhere as well... Much depends on the balance involved... You can get a E Cycle that will do in town speed limit, Motorway speed limit, Highway speed limit, and freakin' Autobahn speed limit. But the faster you go...the faster the batts will drain. Of course you don't need to go that fast always ...unless on a road that requires that minimum... Super Soco makes up to the Highway speed limit in model classes...I believe. There are others that go much faster. My bike model came out last year...and when I got it..it was unique. It still turns lots of heads..and I still get people daily asking me questions.. But ... Now I am seeing all shapes and sizes and speeds zipping around me... there are a solid number of companies now... It depends what you want, and your use. My experience after a year....of daily to and from work...off on day trips, grocery shopping ...sun, wind, rain and snow... most certainly it is worth every penny. My cat (Cat-O) ...he either sits in the soft shell trailer with my dog (Eddie)... or if I use the hard shell I just built ..I put him in his cat mesh backpack and strap him to the luggage rack on top of the hard shell ....so he has a view... Both of them love it. Super Soco with their 1st model (2014-15) built a 400lb capacity model that looks like a homage to a military motorcycle from the "great escape" steve mcqueen movie.... They also built a sidecar for it... They are still available to buy... But since it was built before they went Li-ion ..it is Lead Acid. Meaning bigger battery, less battery lifespan, and less range... The cost to convert one to Li-ion was the same price as the model which I bought. At the time I was dubious of the tech and the company, about putting out a large chunk of money ... Now... I am going to be buying a second model like mine for company when they visit...and as a spare... and I am looking around for one of the 1st models .... I want to convert one to LI-ion ...so the boys can ride in the sidecar instead. They have their helmets and goggles ... they just need the aviator scarves... |
Re: It's the final countdown!
Btw. I hope to visit the beaches of La Jolla some time next week. That's pronounced La Hoya!

Re: It's the final countdown!
There are a LOT of e-bikes sold in the UK. Almost all of them dirt bikes, for the off-road use. I found two (I counted them, TWO!) road legal ones. One of them is actually a scooter, limited to 25mph. I asked the distributor of the other one several times what the construction speed limit is and whether it is motorway legal. I never received any answer.

Re: It's the final countdown!
One more thing. I prefer to invest in things that prolong and improve quality of life. Motorcycles are too dangerous...

Re: It's the final countdown!
I suggest looking elsewhere than the local e-bicycle shop.
the alternatives are available in your country. whether one of the super soco models will suit your need is the issue. super soco UK http://supersoco.co.uk/ there are E Cycles available from other makers that are much more powerful and seriously fast . personally I like the collaboration of the Super Soco. Good design, good build... Bosch motor, Panasonic Li-Ion batts. etc. |

The one I looked at more closely was about £1k on a time limited offer, which is more up my street. But, as I said, the distributor ignored me and I eventually lost the details, including the name. I am not even sure it still exists. |

Re: It's the final countdown!
actually pichlo...
super soco also sells a lot more directly and a lot cheaper via their store on aliexpress without the additional overhead from a middleman local distributor. Here in Canada ...the price for a super soco bought local is over $5500 CDN On super soco's store on aliexpress ...shipped straight to my house ...the total is $3930 CDN ... So you could consider that option. Also there are faster E Cycles that are cheaper ... Shop around.. |
Re: It's the final countdown!
Electrical vehicle are all great. But it depends where the power comes from. More wind, sun water power needed. Less nuclear. Less waste.
But I will go for cars. Maybe a simple version of bike at my summer house to pick up breakfast and stuff. But don’t really like to drive bikes on the roads with all “idiots” roaming the world. If I’m gonna die...it should be by an alien attack. Not lunatic with a car. But yeah. Your bike looks awesome! If you manage to rebuild it the awesomeness will be limitless. |
Re: It's the final countdown!
I wonder If US and China can blackmail themselves to bankruptcy with trade wars and taxes :D
|
Re: It's the final countdown!
They certainly are trying.
Both have been pushing for it to come to a trade war. Both have done and do practices that amount to the inevitability of a confrontation between each other. The US wants dominance ...and China wishes to supplant the US dominance. The harsh reality is with trade conflict at the level it is right now, the actual "effect" is far reaching and has yet to be fully seen. It is too soon to see the extent of the damage both parties have done to one another and to the globe. It will take decades for the effects to subside and for the tally of damage to be fully seen. |
Re: It's the final countdown!
The bad part is that it is affecting stocks around world.
Better the two leaders going for a good old Gun fight. Back to back, walk turn around and fire. Then it World be calmness on the global trading scene. |

Ahoy sailors, from La Jolla!
|
Re: It's the final countdown!
Great to see that all the mods/commandors have vaccation 2018 and is no longer harrasing me on a weekly basis. TMO seems to be a nice place again, like before. Just with less active membrers but still. The police state is officially gone!
No personal attacks on TMO anymore as far as I can see. I guess TMO has not yet called the last countdown. Nice Palm trees. Mscion! Jeeg? |
Re: It's the final countdown!
yeah man...
Jeeg.. best italian superhero there is... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvt_48b2y7s I know it is a marketing catchphrase ... but the whole ahoy sailors thing rankles me sideways... for a problematic device I doubt any actual sailor would use.. and I HIGHLY doubt that there are any actual sailors in the Jolla community of users .. If there are ...they would be the freak exception and not the norm. Hell ...I spend more time on the ocean daily during my commute than most Jolla Sailors do...I am sure... Hell..even forget spending my time on my actual sailboat... I AM a sailor in compare to the slogan branded device users ... hm... I think we all need such superfluous catchphrases to designate our device usage. Definitely I could think of a few concerning the flaming phoenix of the neo900... "flaming turkeys" is one that comes to mind. and there are others .. but I won't ruin the fun.. chime in anytime people ...with your nick names for devices based solely on a marketing profile. |
Re: It's the final countdown!
Wow Mike ...
that was good. I completely understand why A- it was removed or B- you took it down That postimage was more inflammatory than jalapenos :D Shame ...it would have started a pretty good and meaningful conversation and debate I believe... |

Re: It's the final countdown!

Up there with Goemon....Duel....Attack on Titan... Mscion cutting down palm trees?? Bet he is cutting them down to try to see if he can squeeze palm oil out of them... :D |
