Re: It's the final countdown!
Why doesn't the 2048 game (on N9) stop even after we make a 2048 tile? Twice I made 2048 and both the times, the game continued.

Re: It's the final countdown!
Arrrgh!
It IS the apocalypse Dave! Hockey playoffs and no Canadian team in sight. It's as bad as Olympic playoffs... if it isn't epic Canada vs Russia or Sweden ...etc. The team expansions never shoulda happened in the 1st place... Shoulda stayed in Canada ... it's ridiculous now....disney?...florida?...Mighty Ducks?!?! ....argh. The REALLY sad thing is that the ENTIRE NHL is made up of the majority of players that are either Canadian, Russian, or Swedish...so in essence ....on the whole...it's everybody else OTHER than Americans..playing for bragging rights for the cup under the mask of American teams. Yargh! They've already taken basketball and called it their own (bad enough). All I can say is thank heaven above America hasn't payed attention to our Lacrosse or CFL (football) ....(ours is a larger field...tougher game as a consequence)...if they new it was a better game than their NFL they'd hijack it too. P.S. Don't mention Crokinole they may try to seize it. :D |

Re: It's the final countdown!
I know quite a few yanks...good friends of mine....
Nice people really... Like most people...fine individually ... get anyone in a group and well....doesn't matter what nationality... they can behave poorly...even us Canadians :D... Kinda on the same topic....it reminds me of something....I can't remember which ancient philosopher said it...but he was asked if there was any hope for humanity...and he answered...." As a whole? none at all...Hope for the individual? ...of course...there is hope...in fact I have faith in the individual..." That is an interesting answer I have thought long and hard on for many years. |

and what is your conclusion after all this? friends with usayers? You are kidding, right ? ;) |
Re: It's the final countdown!
Hahaha
Well...it really does depend on the community...ie when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan ..the individuals and community worked together and there wasn't much in the way of profiteering or trouble...really grand noble behaviour. New York after a blackout....ALOT of profiteering...alot of looting going on...but that is a geo-localized example. After a hockey game here in B.C. in Vancouver couple years back...wholescale rioting mainly by a hard core of troublemakers who sincerely just wished to damage and vandalize whatever they could....plenty of footage of it. That incident isn't indicative of ALL Canadians....just some groups in a specific geographic region. American's aren't ALL bad ...anymore than anyone else.. Hell my cousin on my dad's side was a pretty cool guy... George Carlin.....gone now... but he wasn't all that bad for a Yank. Funny guy....self critical as much as critical of society around him....very Canadian behaviour for a Yank actually. :D |

Endsormeans. You are going for a neo900. Would you prefer replica or Maemo as default? Also do you get a new phone only or can you send in a empty n900 case and get it filled with a neo?

Re: It's the final countdown!
You will not be able to use your iPhone earplugs with other devices in the near future.
Apple has modified the Made for iPhone (MFi) standard to include headphones that connect to iOS devices via Lightning port instead of the headphone jack, according to media reports. Currently, the Apple-made EarPods use a regular 3.5mm headphone jack and hence they can be used with any other device with a 3.5mm audio port. It also means you can use virtually any other pair of non-Apple earphones with your iPhone. But that is not going to be for long. The port switch could also means headphones could be made to work exclusively with a particular app — or even launch a specific app once they are plugged in. So, instead of being able to plug in your EarPods and listen to whatever streaming music app you want, a pair of future EarPods could only work with the iOS Music app and iTunes Radio. |

Tizen OS declared 'dead in the water'
The mobile OS is years behind Android and iOS with a fraction of the developers, says analyst Days after Samsung introduced a Tizen OS-based smartphone, a UK-based analyst declared the operating system a non-starter, despite its backing by a consortium of heavyweights including Intel, Samsung and LG Electronics. "Is Tizen going anywhere? In a word, no," wrote Andrew Sheehy, chief analyst for Generator Research in an online research report. To support his view, Sheehy said the OS is five years behind Google's Android and Apple's iOS and has the support of only a small cadre of developers compared to the millions writing applications for Android and iOS. "Watching Tizen's development is like watching a car crash in slow motion," he wrote. In comments to Computerworld, he added, "As far as a viable alternative to Android, Tizen is dead in the water." Computerworld requested a comment on Sheehy's statements from the Tizen Association, an industry group supporting the mobile OS. In response, "a person associated with the Tizen Association," said in an email that Tizen is not all that different from where Android was when it first started. Tizen also has backing from major companies, including Samsung and Intel, which give Tizen a good chance of succeeding, the email stated. Samsung showed the new Tizen OS-based Samsung Z, a 4.8-in. display smartphone, due to ship in the third quarter, at the third annual Tizen Developer Conference held last week in San Francisco. About 600 Tizen developers attended the conference in San Francisco, compared to the 6,000 attending the Apple WWDC the day before, Sheehy noted. And Apple has 9 million registered developers, according to CEO Tim Cook. It "will be a lot harder [to] attract a critical mass of developers" to Tizen, Sheehy wrote. In an email to Computerworld, Sheehy also said that Samsung may be particularly vulnerable with Tizen's expected demise. Seoul, Korea-based Samsung started shipping the Tizen-based Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smar****ches in April. Some analysts have said Samsung's interest in Tizen comes out of the company's desire to gradually separate itself from Android and Google in order to build its own ecosystem of apps and services atop of its own hardware instead of relying on Google for apps and services. Even though Samsung is clearly seeking alternatives to Android, it makes the biggest number of Android smartphones sold globally of any vendor. "Samsung will eventually have to accept that it needs to find a way of working either with the existing market structure or around it" with the demise of Tizen, Sheehy said. "For all its technical brilliance, its incredibly fast product development, brand equity and global distribution, Samsung's soft underbelly is software. Software will become increasingly important as the market develops and is where Google is way out in front." Asked to respond, a Samsung spokeswoman said the company "is declining to comment" on Sheehy's remarks. Sheehy is not alone in his view on Tizen, although other analysts have not been as definitive in their condemnation. Analyst Jack Gold of J. Gold Associates, said the chances that Tizen will grow and become important in devices are "slim to none." Tizen "may have a niche play in non-mainstream devices like TVs and appliances, but as a general purpose OS for phones, tablets, and PC's, it won't be a force in the market at all," he said. Some application developers said they were excited to see Tizen on smar****ches and other devices in an evolving Internet of Things world. Monica Lam, who is on leave as a computer science professor at Stanford University and is also CEO of start-up MobiSocial, said in an interview that many devices can't accommodate the processing power required for a full Android phone, and need an efficient OS like Tizen. Lam delivered a keynote at the recent Tizen conference. http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic..._in_the_water_ |
Re: It's the final countdown!
It's not the first nor the last time Tizen is declared dead. But it's the first time in water.
