Also, I hope that they do something with skype to surprise us :).

I use the awesome remote/extender that came with my super old Nokia 5800 and all the controls work! Play/pause, next, back, volume, call, stop. Freaking love the remote that came with my 5800.

I see a massive demand to optimize the software, make it less laggy with smooth transitions. Are you listening NOKIA?

If you leave all mentioned IM-accounts enabled, that's normal. It's eating up battery by not letting the wireless connections sleep. Don't remember if that's a bug in libpurple.

Heck, even stock Skype isn't that optimized it seems. I remember the N900 had the same problem to a certain extent with pidgin.
If using Skype (stock lib.) + MSN (butterfly) + ICQ (libpurple), it's the worst combination possible, I think :)

(sorry for the bad English, got a headache -_-)

I think they are well aware of these problems. Updates to Windows Phone are expected. It'll take time to fix all the issues, though... Maybe 2013 until you'll get a decent experience.

I was referring to Lumiaman's valid complaints (aka "massive demand") about the performance of Windows Phone. So: WP, not N9. N9 is cool as it is.

I think the N9 is fast enough.when it's not misbehaving. Even the N900 is ok with 600mhz. It's the lack.of ram that kills it.

fair enough

and also:

* Nokia311 announced end of May with Meltemi/Qt that would be epic win :D

(yes I should stop dream :(

What are the proposed speculated specs for the Nokia 311? Will there be more Meltemi devices released this year? Wouldn't specs similar to the N9's be considered low-end within the next 6 months? Can I hope for a Meltemi device with a slide-out keyboard ie; N950 with lower quality camera? I apologize for the slew of questions, I believe the future is bright for the possibility of a N900/N950 form factor device getting released to consumers with Meltemi. :D

No.N9 needs optimization.

I find it hilarious that a guy called Lumiaman trolls this forum, and weird versions of him fanboyishly defend Microsoft in the comments section of every news website that puts the Lumia in a bad light.

Lumiaman, please go and update your "optimized" firmware so you can properly connect to the internet. I heard Nokia/Microsoft is giving out $100 rebates to cover-up the embarrassment, good news for you.

Nokia Lumia 900 hit by software bug

Ouch.

Re: N9 PR1.3 by end of May'12

I think that Lumiaman, whether he is troll or not, have a point. N9 is great phone by its swipe-ui, but its regular irregural lagging gets me frustrated from time to time.

I really hope that folks at Nokia have concentrated on that carefully because I think that this issue can be improved a lot with some, what that was again? "optimization".

I dont care little tweaks with camera or gallery or little shadows beneath the statusbar. I want phone that works all the time smoothly and without "thinking breaks". Of course that is not possible but that can be improved.

This little lag is not issue for many users out there, but there are also people who thinks that it is. This is my own opinion and it is not for everyone. Dont get me wrong, I really enjoy using my white 64Gb N9 a lot. But still think that there are lot to be done. Really hope that we gonna get pr 1.4 also from Nokia.

The N9 has recently been removed from Nokia's official lineup in the Nordic countries. Not a good sign. It's still available in shops, but that will only last for much longer.

I'm not counting on any PR1.3. The Maemo/MeeGo office is already shut down. I don't even think Nokia will last through this summer.

Re: N9 PR1.3 by end of May'12

Pr1.3 is coming, but the question is what is in it? N9 could have been a better phone, if it was only as smooth as Lumia 800. I love how Lumia is smooth. Why can't NOKIA engineers optimize their products? N900 released in 2009, and they couldn't have learned from N900 mistakes. Sad, very sad.

I hate to bring elops actions here but its not that the engineers are not capablee as much as the fact that they are not getting the support they should be getting.

Especially with the number of programmers that quit cos elop decoded it was better to put all eggs in one untested, declare the rest as dead OSes. If i was a developer and one os which i have been a part of developing is called a dead os and this is scrapped, i would not be very excited. Especially because by your own definition, im working on a dead os.

Re: N9 PR1.3 by end of May'12

N900 was out in 2009. Any serious company would have already been working on a sequel. elop made his decisions at the beginning of 2011. Lack of optimization has nothing to do with Elop. It has to do with previous leadership and engineering. None of the Nokia phones are optimized. Ever use N8? Oh my, what a non-optimized fiasco was that

Oh, you can have that easily. Just remember to close your app before you open the next, just like WP7 does.

Just a little optimization would be wonderful, anything but go back to Android which crashed all the time. (Sensation at least, the Amaze was better but too bulky and had rotten battery life).

The beauty of N9 is the open operating system and it works great on T-Mo USA.

This seems also true for other countries. My favourite mail order shop here in Switzerland has marked his remaining stock with "no reorder possible" about two weeks ago.

I totally agree - this is the main reason I havent bought one yet!

If the transmitter was working I may still still get one, though holding out to see what the Pureview 808 is like. Symbian still turns me off though..

Now, that would be an update to hype about since it would change the hardware :) you can safely stop waiting for it to happen.

some overall optimization, improvement of accelerations in the UI..
definitely proper video calling, at least for Skype..
and a few small improvements here and there..the browser, drag-down menu, camera...

I'd be totally fine, then...
