Put it in your calendar for Dec/Jan+ ;) Just to clarify...
My argument is if it doesn't arrive officially, Jolla will be implemented in such a way that it facilitates the community adding it very soon after the 1st public releases.

You don't need to quantify it to that extent anyway as its almost dead-sure that it will arrive...Unless Dave manages to bribe them into the tune of millions to avoid his signature going will it not arrive :p

Dave999 where are you? You haven't confirmed yet :D

LOL true... :D
Anyway, I'm unsubscribing from this thread.
Happy boredom peeps, adios!

*Update*
If Oppo can release a screen with this PPI, then hopefully Jolla will be as aggressive:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Opp...oid,17494.html
http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/15/o...ppi-quad-core/
I prefer they stick to 4.1-4.8", 5"+ is too big IMO, but the same PPI would be awesome.

Ok, I'm in.

Well, I came here asking a simple question about jolla/python and ended up in a one page discussion about a bet of some kind. Let's focus on jolla.

And I will remove the thank signature soon.

Well its just for LOLZ as you were not getting his message that python is a bang-on certainity :p

Anyway the bet will indeed be fun to administer :D

Why do you ask, is Python support important for some app/s you have in mind?

I also think python will be supported from scratch but not so sure if pyside will be officially supported? Or is pyside in mercore too?

Not, sure but since Qt seems to be important to jolla, pyside will be available as well. This is important to have.

Python 2.7 and also pyside is available in mer. So im sure it will available.

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

A small company like jolla should try crowed source testing. If they dont want or can afford sending realdevices they should set up virtual devices.

I would be happy to help them and that would eliminte more bugs before release. And so would you. I cant believe the vendors dont go for that.especially when it comes to firmware updates and the os is already in the open.

No bugs, no cry!

jalyst 2012-09-16 10:19

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

So suggest that idea to them via Twitter, can't hurt. I broke my rule of not reading this thread darn it! :)
They could have a small external crack team from TMO, who signs NDA's & agrees to provide feedback.

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

No, this have to come from them.

To me they are just a black hole. Nothing gets in and nothing gets out.

Plus, most of them have been locked in in the nokia world and never seen the light outside. I guess they have their way of working.

I'm waiting impatantly and judging when I find the device.

What are you talking about, they're a tiny co. that's nothing like the monolithic machine some of them came from.
Any ideas you can suggest that really are good/practical, may be helpful...

I would love if one of the first issues to be resolved when tmo makes the foundation move is a proper ignore list for this forum.
This is really getting too tiresome to read.

Since last week, the PySide package (ported by Elleo) is now part of the main Nemo repository. This means that it should be now possible to run PySide applications on Nemo without the need for adding outside repositories. :)

Considering how close will Jolla probably be to both Mer & Nemo, it should be very easy to just install the Nemo PySide package, if it is not available out of the box in the first place.

agree it probadly simple but would be great if it was officially supported in the "jolla SDK" and its unknown "store"

well, lets wait and see :)

Do jolla select parts of mer core or just going with what mer provides?

I'm running Nemo, but when it comes to functionality. Do you think jolla planning to follow mer or try to build their own merish. And if so, what version of mer?

Check the Mer and Nemo commit logs and you'll find a lot of work by Jolla on Mer and Nemo.

I have checked the Mer logs. But jolla most close down for release? Can't check in until release...and what version do jolla use?

It's quite interesting that there are 132 pages in this thread - 132 pages of speculation.

But I reckon it just shows that there is a great amount of interest in Jolla and what device / OS they will release.

I for one am eager to see if it's as good as most of us are hoping...

BTW, that Oppo Find looks good too.

Yep i dep. Speculation is a healthy thing and that increasing the interested even further.

132 pages is nothing if you lived during the happy days of n900 and the smaller brother n9.

What do mean with "as good as most of us hoping..." [ what's your expectations?

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

mer/pyside commits
"wrong link see next post"

Mer master
"wrong link see next post"

Wayland 1.0 is 1 to 2 months away from being released which will be a substantial improvement. Here is an hour long video of a wayland dev explaining why wayland http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...tem&px=MTE4NTA

Wayland FAQ's (easier than watching the hour long video) geared towards ubuntu but relevent and informative here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Wayland

Wayland progress for QT5 (<--future Jolla), GTK+, Clutter, SDL, EFL (<--Tizen)

So I'm guessing the way things will go is Jolla will release their first phone with QT4, then Wayland port for QT5 will get released a few months later and they/us will be installing it on the Jolla phones and any other devices as it will be a nice improvement and the second or third Jolla phones will have QT5 and wayland.

Hmm wait a second I guess meegos compositor works with wayland. I really am a newbie when it comes to understanding this linux stuff.

The Jokers at Jolla need to watch the movie: "Jiro Dreams of Sushi". They can learn from Jiro what it takes to be the best. This is how apple operates. This is how winners operate.

Device delays Jan 2013, device expectant May 2013, device arrives Jul 2013, device arrives with buggy, incomplete software.

Major bug fix and software update arrives Nov 2013. People hyped about the Motorola Nexus X in Oct 2013 with Android 5.1 with Mainline Linux Kernel, and new features.

Noone is winner forever, luckly.

You can't dissmis jolla without giving them a chance. New OSes should always be supported by users, at least until you tried it. You can't fly, jump or rule before walking.
